tomorrow. scott, thank you so much. let's talk about this sad stranger our city is in mourning after losing a here, lieutenant matthew l atourneau made the ultimate sacrifice, he was trapped inside for 30 minutes, doctors tried to save his life, but he died, the city now morning the loss of one of the greats, jenny joyce live on the scene. >> reporter: good morning, lauren, it is a somber morning here at engine 45. sad day for not only this fire company but for the entire city in morning location of fire lieutenant matt l atourneau. he was an emt and firefighter in his hometown in springfield. he died from injuries trapped inside of a collapsed burning building on the 2200 block of

north colorado street, fire commissioner adam teal said it took took his firefighters about 30 minutes to pull him from the degree, he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced just after 11:00 a.m. firefighters from all over the city stopped by the hospital to pay their respects. hearts are broken, he's one of the best if not the best we've had in the city of philadelphia. he knew his job. inside and out. and it's sad that this has happened and we'll be there for his fellow firefighters and for matt's family. in addition a person who lived in the burning home was killed in this fire officials haven't released much information on that. fire victim. they did talk about the challenges of froze hydrants. we saw several deadly fires in recent weeks as people are desperate to keep their homes warms, whatever you're using make sure it is not a fire

hazard, we have seen way too main unfortunate ununtimely deaths. back to you. >> sad situation for us, jenny joyce thank you. philadelphia investigating after a shootering leaves a third-year-old dead and a 26-year-old hospital hospitalized. after 6:00 last night oh girardo avenue. they say the man was shot in the head and the chest. he was pronounced dead at the scene. the woman was shot multiple times. taken to the hospital in critical condition. right now, police do not have anyone in custody. . right now, a water main break in north philadelphia creating an icy situation cause tape is up around the area. as water flows right down 17 and street to the corner of callowhill. we're told crews will be out to make repairs to that break. it is also forced officials to shut down the vine street expressway. . in olney, water back on after a major water main break there. crews worked overnight in the bitter cold to repair that 12

fire lieutenant matthew latourneau died running into a burning home. jenny joyce live from engine 45 where hearts are surely heavy. >> reporter: good morning, lauren, a civilian and a firefighter died yesterday, we don't know much about the person who lived inside the home, we're learning more about fire lieutenant matt latourneau of engine 45 and 11 year veteran of the philadelphia fire department. before that he worked as an emt and firefighter in springfield, delaware county, which is where he's from, another community mourning the loss, he died from injuries he suffered traps inside of a collapsed burning building on the 2200 block of north colorado street yesterday morning. adam teal said it took his firefighters about 30 minutes to pull him from the debris. latourneau was rushed to temple where he was pronounced after

wondered why no one was helping him. at some point, he sat up and i realized he was completely naked then stood up and you see there he starts running into oncoming traffic on broad street there. time went by, and he was standing over on the other side behind the ambulance out of our sight. when he merged again, i witnessed him push an innocent man down on the ground and you see the video there. he started brutally beating this man >> for no reason >> no reason at all. a couple people jump out. that's one of the emergency responders and the ambulance and a photographer from nbc 10 jumps out kristen and they're trying to distract him. then you see a man in a gray suit standing there, liens down, he pulls that helpless victim away from the seemingly drugged man, he and another guy, and then they try to use those barricades, they had been up for the murmer's parade, they left them up because they were going

to have a lot of police presence, so the man still things theses he's beating this guy, they sort of rearranged the barricades to trap him inside, they held him down and flagged down a police officer with a completely different agency who were there to be able to arrest him eventually. so i put this on twitter, and a woman tweeted me back. she happens to watch good day, and she said, casey roger is the director of facility sales and ipe, hard working awesome guy. he happened to be in early that day, scott, 6:00 a.m. preparing for the inauguration when he saw it from the him a ton garden. came down three story stop sign stop it. he came outside, he did not hesitate. he ran right across the street. he jumped right in. he didn't have on a coat. do you remember tuesday, it was very chilly. he jumped right in. another guy told us he witnessed the same thing, from a different building and he ran downstairs,

died at there was hospital. jenny joyce is live from engine 45 this morning with the latest. hi, jenny. >> reporter: good morning, lauren. it's a somber morning here at engine 45. it is throughout the entire city. learning that a firefighter from this engine company died yesterday while battling a fire here in north philadelphia, mat latourneau an 11 year veteran of the philadelphia fire department. before that he was an emt in springfield, delaware county, latourneau died from injuries he suffered while trapped inside of a burning building on the 2200 block of north colorado street, adam teal said it took his fellow firefighters about 30 minutes to pull him from the debris, latourneau was rushed to temple where he was pronounced after 11:00 a.m. yesterday firefighters from all overtime city stopped by the hospital to pay their respects. >> our hearts are broken, he's

♪ . ♪ . ♪ here's what i'm not going to do, go outside. we're a week into the new year and many of us have failed resolutions because we probably haven't started yet. few of us on good day weekend say we're going to try to motivate ourselves and call ourselves out next weekend we'll start a good day weekend weight loss challenge, we'll have a different health expert and check in with the staffers to see, sores, their progress, and a lot of people want to join in and send pictures and talk about what they're doing.

but before we even get there, it's just been super hard to stay motivated in this weather to hit the gym, eat a salad. look at rehoboth beach delaware. >> it's like a frozen tundra. >> it's a tundra. here to tell us how to keep our spirits up and stay active. it's hard. we just talked about you trying to take the dog out. >> it's 2018, we're seven days in. and we're not even starring our resolution yet because it's too cold outside >> there's a lot of different aspects that are going against people. for me my biggest thing is you got to have a road map. you have to have some sort of plan, what's your main goal? i tell all my clients guys what's your goal? write it down. that's the first step. >> don't just say it >> realistic too >> i call them smarter. not to be -- very realistic. >> don't lie to yourself by sawing like i want to lose 40 pounds before summer.

>> exactly >> small steps. >> small steps is great but they have to be actionable >> can you give us an example >> here's a bad example. hey, i want to lose 30 pounds period nothing else, doesn't have any actions a better example will be hey, i want to lose 30 pounds in six months by going to the gym three, four times a week. better example of a good goal. >> in this weather, there something people can be doing, if you can't make it to the gym or make it outside can the diet side of things help you >> diet will always be the ex-factor when it comes to obtaining any kind of help and wellness goal. small steps in that as well. slowly start oh balance out what you're eating, cut and weigh the added sugars >> pizza for breakfast can be delicious on the weekends if we can try to stay away from that.
