after nearly four hours what was once a four alarm blaze is under control. it started in the basement of a pizza shop and quickly spread. crews have been fitting since early this morning, sabrina kuriakose has the details after the forecast we had an busy overnight with the snowfall that rapidly moved through the delaware valley dumping heavy snow especially north and west. we'll see lot of sunshine for today and melting, watch out for icy patches temperatures 31 in pottstown, 31 in wilmington 34 right now as you move toward millville, above freezing philadelphia at 35. we'll look at several snowfall totals look at allentown 8.3 inch doylestown five chadds ford almost three, philadelphia a little over one inch of snowfall. florence three inch cherry

all of this starting shortly after 3:00 this morning, sabina kuriakose with the scene. >> reporter: we just got the update look behind me. you can see it is far from over. in fact while we were out here just a new seconds ago, it appeared to be a flare-up actually with some -- with a billow of black smoke coming out from this building so you can see this is far from over. o the left throw lad r trucks that we can count up pouring water on these flames. and you mentioned this is on chestnut between 3rd and 2nd. it appears that the fire started below in revolution diner, that's at the base of two of these buildings, people who live here tell me that restaurant has been closed for a few months now. and there's actually condos above it and we spoke with a little girl she said she woke up to a neighbor knocking on her door her and her brother had to cover their faces as they went

down the stairs and tried to get out. i want to get it out there. no injuries amazingly, despite the heavy involvement of this fire. now firefighters say when they got here around 3:15 it was heavily engulfed. they had to call in 150 firefighter, medics and support staff they had to reach into the off-duty crews. commissioner said they will be here hours even though right now it appears they have the fire contained they're worry about flare-ups again they're telling people who live around here if you notice embers to be on high alert. more than 100 people have been evacuated. red cross and salvation army are sitting. here's the commissioner. can you give us an update on the fire >> we've actually just good news would he have placed the fire under control, which does not mean the fire is out,

i. breaking news out of old city fire crew finally have a four alarm fire under control. that's video we shot earlier this morning around 3:00 a.m. when the fire started but the commissioner said, the fight is far from over. sabina kuriakose live from the scene with the scene. >> this is a massive operation as you can see, behind me water still continuing to pour on to this building from cruz now the fire commissioner tells us that though the fire has been contained the danger right now is from what we can't see, behind the building between pictured and 2nd on chestnut there's more residents, a courtyard and more buildings and he said that is where the major part of the fire continues and that's what firefighters continue to fit. right now, though he tells us so far no reports of any

injuries. that is a blessing. because when firefighters got here around 3:15 this morning, they encountered heavy flames and smoke. they called in about 150 firefighters medics and support team and i think i mentioned earlier they had to call in off-duty crews to come in and help them out. commissioner called this a four alarm or more fire. but again they did manage to get it under control and just a few hours, there were about iphone condos in this building it sits above a diner, revolution diner that's been closed about three month, inside one of those condos was a 14-year-old and her 12-year-old brother, a neighbor had been watching them. he came up knocked on the door the little girl woke up and there was smoke everywhere let's listen to her tell us about those next few moments >> what did it look like? was there smoke >> it was a lot of smoke. and we couldn't really breathe.

we had to cover our noses. >> reporter: so that was sidney she grabbed her little brother, he was just in shorts when we saw him standing outside. she also grabbed her little dog, and they got out of their happily. we want mention her aunt and uncle came and got her and her parents are coming up so she is safe sidney and her brother were more than one of 100 people ho have been evacuated both from that building and adjacent buildingsing because right now firefighters say they're still worried about embers and spot fires popping up so they still wanted to get everybody out to safety. it's very cold out here a lot of those folks taking shelter in some hotel lobby, there's also a spa bus taken some people in. red cross, salvation army. smoke billowing towards us now, we can smell it and taste it and you can see it's still continuing fire commissioner said this will be hours if not days long operation to make sure

so you're graduating already behind the eight ball owing a lot of money before you get a job. you want people to know there's hope >> we do a lot of free programming in the city free student loan repayment clinics where we teach the fundamental ales it's the class you never had before you graduated >> you've been so successful. you went to the white house >> yes. ok. so that was also a woman by name of demarshal connected me and there was a conversation for what affects african-american women and girls. and so we were in the room and i brought up the topic, how many people in this room are affected by student loan debt? 50 women, all 50 raised their hand >> it took me about ten years's i was so embarrassed to talk about it. should it take this long? when i got that note in the mail that said it was complete thank you for repaying it i wanted to have a party for myself that's how exciting it is to free yourself from that and to be able to use that for something better.
