for the high. air quality yellow which is moderate, angie goff. good morning. >> hello. welcome back from the spectacular 4th of july weekend. kicking off another workweek, 270 southbound from father hurley to the split, so far so good. 66 eastbound, that trip in centreville through fairfax over to the capital beltway is all clear. to the maps we go, the inner loop to 66, drivers clocking in on average at a great pace here. checking on the traffic on 395 northbound finding lanes wide open in to the district and in the district that's where we wrap it up. inbound new york avenue seeing a good amount of volume between times building and bladensburg road. that's a look at traffic. over to you. new troubles this morning for dc council member marion barry. he is charged with stalking a woman described as one of his close friends. kristin fisher is live at the

wilson building with the latest. >> reporter: in five hours, at 10:00 a.m., marion barry will be here at the wilson building speaking to reporters about what went down over this past 4th of july weekend. a park police officer, patrolling anacostia park on the 4th of july was flagged down by a woman in a car. >> the woman stated somebody in another car was harassing and stalking her. >> reporter: it was a political council woman. >> the only issue is the charge of stalking which is a misdemeanor. >> barry describes the accuser as his close friend. >> the best word to describe marion barry at this hour is betrayed. he adamantly denies the charges. >> reporter: he made headlines last april after he paid $900 to buy her an opera jacket at the same time he was trying to repay taxes.

>> mr. barry has over a period of time lended his friendship and his support to the accuser miss donna watts through her many stages of instability. >> reporter: this is barry's third run in with park police since his drug charges in ' 92. >> we have had several calls today and the biggest thing they are saying off the bat is he's been arrested again, so embarrassing. >> reporter: now, if convicted of this misdemeanor stalking charge, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine up to $500. jessica? police are investigating a multiple shooting that injured a 10-year-old girl. it happened early sunday morning in southeast washington. police were called to the 600 block of 46th place in the benning ridge neighborhood. one man suffered life- threatening injuries. three others including a girl were also wounded. more trouble at the new beginnings youth center in

laurel, maryland. six teens escaped on sunday. they were recaptured within two hours near the route 198 at the baltimore-washington parkway. this isn't the first time there's been an escape at the facility. a teen escaped may 29th, just one daft opened. he was recaptured two days later. a fare inspector deserved teens lying on the track just after 3:00 p.m. on sunday. both were taken to the hospital. one died a short time later. the other in critical condition. the mta says it is trying to figure out what happened. >> we are fairly confident we are not passengers. we don't know what circumstances led to them being on the track. none of our operators reported any incidents, but again at this point it is all under investigation. as you may expect we are inspecting every one of our

trains to see if there is any hint of an accident or a collision or coming in to contact with a human because that would easily show. >> the mta says it will inspect the undercarriage of each of the rail cars to look for clues. time for the first "living $mart" report of the morning and look at the start of earnings season this week. dow component alcoa will kick off the earning seasons but the report is expected to be grim. profits are expected to fall 21% compared to last year according to the latest estimates. the dow starts at 8280 nasdaq lost 49, the s&p fell 26. the selloff came after the labor department released a worse than expected unemployment report for june. a bankruptcy judge has given gm the go-ahead to sell the bullable of its assets to a

new company. it potentially clears the way for them to quickly emerge from bankruptcy protection. it is unclear if any of the groups unhappy with the deal may appeal the decision. cybercriminals are targeting twitter. the popular social networking site. our partners at "usa today" say there is an uptake in postings of websites that sell drugs and porn and experts expect the problems will get worse. stay tuned for more "living $mart" stories in in the next hour hour and we are live on the web at wusa9.com. autopsies are expected for two people who died in a burning home on sunday. prince georges county officials say heavy smoke and flames prevented a rescue at that home on wheeling avenue. one of the victims is an adult man. the other was burned beyond recognition. one body was on the first floor of the home and the other in the basement. fire officials in the

district now say it was a natural gas leak that caused a house explosion on saturday night in northwest washington. the explosion at 6120 oregon avenue caused more than a million dollars in damage. the owner was away on vacation and no one was hurt. the at&t national wrapped up at congressional country club with the host claiming the prize. after sidelined by injury last year, tiger headed this to the final round tied for the lead in his own tournament. hunter mayhem set the pace with a round of 62, posting a score of 12 under. woods was tied with him when he reached the 16th but tiger made the 20-foot putt and that proved to be the difference. >> whether it is my tournament, jack's, arnolds, byrons, doesn't matter you go out with the same intensity to win. >> reporter: here's a look at the leader board. tiger wins at minus 13, mahan

out over the 4th of july weekend. five people have been killed there in the last couple of weeks. all of the victims were bound and shot possibly pointing to a serial killer. a train operator at disney world is dead after a collision between two monroe rail trains. it happened at the magic kingdom in orlando, florida. a 21-year-old train operator died. the other operator and five park guests were treated for minor injuries. the monroe rail was closed all day on sunday. dozens recovering from the 4th of july celebrations after a foot bridge collapsed in indiana. too many people were crowded on the wooden bridge as they will have the fireworks display. at least 16 were hospitalized but none had life-threatening injuries. as great as tiger was it was another athlete that reached the pinnacle of his career on sunday. that's coming up in sports. dozens of american citizens

weather forecast. >> awfully nice but jessica at live stream.com/weather kim, the chat room right now they are talking about the fog and the fog advisory in affect to our west including culpeper, frederick and along i-81. heads up. a dense fog advisory for you. get started this morning and talk about the forecast. it is 5:14. the weather today, other than the fog no problems this morning in the immediate area. temperatures are really nice. in the 50s and 60s. this afternoon it will be warmer than what we had yesterday, mostly sunny and north winds five to ten and highs in the middle 80s. how's everybody doing? let's look at the numbers. 63 is where we are at. northwest winds at 7 miles an hour. a check on the visibility, points east and south no problems to southern maryland. culpeper, a quarter mile. zero for the visibility in frederick and zero cumberland. quarter mile in martinsburg and

granted temporary control over his affairs but that may change when the judge decides who will oversee his massive estate. police in nashville ruled the death of steve mcnair a homicide. the 36-year-old was shot four times on saturday. his 20-year-old give girlfriend was dead by his side. she had been shot once in the head. the pistol was found under the woman's body. she had been in a relationship for several months but say cannot confirm if he died as a result of a murder-suicide. this morning marion barry is scheduled to address the media about his arrest on a misdemeanor count of stalking. kristin fischer has more. >> as you said this is only a

a 4th of july celebration in one florida community ended in tragedy. a lightning strike injured one and hurt others on saturday. a group of 80 people were gathered outside of a church when lightning hit a wooden barn. witnesses told investigators there were no signs of severe weather before they saw the lightning. firefighters in california were battling flames in los angeles national forest. so far the fire destroyed 4 a acres but light winds are working in the firefighters favor, pushing the flames away from homes and buildings. a delightful week on tap, don't we. >> we do. hardly any flies in the

this morning at patuxent river. the satellite and radar loop. with a nice little round of rain that affected virginia last night, jan in reedville, bill in do gnuland called me to tell me they picked up rain. that's good news. focus on maryland's weather first. butteds creek partly cloudy and 83. as we look across northern virginia middle 80s, plenty of sunshine for burke and ash burn. to the west, front royal 83 after morning fog. where's the rain to the south going to go? it's going to stay out of reach i'm happy to say. there's a front to the north that will try to affect us. but i don't see any rain drops falling from them. fog is the main problem this morning and it is to the west. after that plenty of sunshine. temperatures in the middle 80s. we share that goal with new york city, boston is getting a warmup. they have been stuck with rain the past month and upper 80s
