"this broadcast realtime captioned by becky lyon." this is 9news now. >> he was held for almost two hours before being arrested. and he was held for almost four hours without having an opportunity to contact his attorney. mr. barry has said that he has every intention on elevating these concerns. a new statement just released. marion barry stalking case could be coming to an end but new tonight hints another battle between the dc council member and park police could be in the works. and for the first time donna watts brighthaupt speaks out about her relationship with the former mayor. our own gary nuenburg joins us live. >> reporter: good evening, derek. with the reports of the charges are dropped the woman that barry is accused of stalking is now talking about her rocky relationship with the former

should have never taken place. >> reporter: barry has long maintained park police have had it in for him and have unfairly treated him. he meets with reporters tomorrow. >> gary neurenberg. thank you for that. police announced today indeed it was a case of murder- suicide of steve mcnair. they believe his girlfriend shot and killed him in his sleep. meantime, several dozen fans showed up at the home of the titans to honor steve mcnair. many wrote their condolences to that will be presented to his family. he leaves behind a wife and four boys. brett haber will have more on the mind set of the woman who pulled the trigger. he has newly released video of

her encounter with police. controversy over metro drivers caught texting on the job. a youtube video surfaced of a bus operator texting. the video was posted yesterday and metro says at the moment it has no way to identify that driver. metro previously suspended a train operator for a week after video of him texting was posted. that incident happened before the deadly train collision last month. proof of the power of explosives. but these just aren't any old bombs they are bombs that the government accountability office have been able to repeatedly slip right past security and into federal buildings. digital correspondent bruce leshan has more on the investigation and the allegations of a security officer in silver spring. >> reporter: eight years after the terrorist attacks, a month after the shooting of the holocaust museum, troubling new allegations of security holes at our federal buildings. >> these federal workers are not safe.

>> reporter: judy adams is a private security guard. she says she has repeatedly had to wake up members of her team sleeping on the job. >> most of the officers think it is funny. they bring pillows and blankets to work and sleep with large guns on. >> reporter: the preliminary report just out from the government accountability office suggests there may be a whole lot of problems with the federal protective service and its security contractors. this video was released of its investigators slipping bomb detonators through security. they carried low level detonators and put them together in a bathroom then wandered through the buildings with an improvised explosive capable of doing this kind of damage. in all they pierced security at ten different facilities in four different cities and were only challenged once. even then the secret investigators were able to talk their way in. >> in all ten cases gao

fotire web page cadideted that . rt widifiyou llnd it in the livin green. click on green jobs on the right side of the screen. texas oilman pickins has become a big proponent of natural gas and he was showing off his car powered by gas today in dc. he arrived just after joining a group of lawmakers on capitol hill. they are calling for bigger tax breaks for people that buy cars that run on natural gas. a mother named sadina walkering asked lawmakers to pass a bill aimed at cracking down on bullying in school. back in april she found her 11- year-old son carl hanging by an extension cord in his room. in the weeks before that her son had told her, bullies at school were picking on him relentlessly, calling him gay and even worse. walker said she told the school about it. they told her this kind of thing is ordinary, happens all the time. it will work itself out. >> the school did not act. the teachers did not know how

to respond. after carl died i could have stayed home and mourned but instead i've chosen to get involved, to speak about school bullying. >> teenagers who testified at today's hearing say all too often kids stand there and do nothing when the bullies are picking on someone else. it is the largest dogfighting raid in u.s. history. 30 people arrested, 200 dogs seized and it happened in six states all across the midwest. most of them in missouri, southern illinois and eastern texas. and as britney moorehouse tells us this only chips away at what is being called a criminal enterprise. some of the video in this report may be hard to watch we want to warn you. >> reporter: right now your pup may be sitting safely on a rug chewing a bone or playing with a pal. it is hard to imagine at this very same moment fellow cane nines are being trained, pumped, encouraged to fight. fight each other and even other

animals. >> unacceptable. and i can't believe that it still continues and that we haven't cracked it open. >> reporter: today investigators are cracking down on this criminal enterprise in their largest raid yet. federal authorities say they swept through midwest seizing hundreds of dogs at big farms like this one in missouri. the humane society of the united states based here in dc is helping. >> we have been investigating these dogfighting operations for the past year and in the past month we have been gathering our troops, getting our vehicles, our specialized equipment and today's operation went down in six states simultaneously. >> reporter: now those who were arrested face felony charges which carry up to five years in prison. the dogs will be evaluated for adoption. >> it really depends on the temperament of the individual dog. >> reporter: the news is heartbreaking for this woman. she said she adopted her dog from a group that later went to jail for animal cruelty. >> we are glad we got him when we did before something terrible could have happened to

him. >> reporter: today's raid makes her want to adopt more. >> and some of those rescued dogs could find their way into our area after they're evaluated. the humane society estimates there are 40,000 professional dog fighters in this country and they kill a quarter million dogs every year. amtrak and other rail traffic moving once again through north east part of baltimore but an actual gas leak shut it all down late today. investigators believe construction workers accidentally caused that leak while they were working near a bridge. the repairs took a couple of hours. nobody was hurt. a close call for a popular restaurant in pikesville, maryland. the suburban house. a fire broke out in the restaurant's adjacent storage area. the restaurant did suffer some smoke damage. customers and staff managed to get out safely. no word yet on what caused the fire. crews in los angeles are confident they will soon have a brush fire under control.

winds easterly at 10. clouds will come in and keep temperatures down a little bit. don't think we will see any showers. we will look at micro cast. tomorrow morning as the commute gets going. few clouds but dry. get into thursday quite a few clouds because the winds turn earl and we talked about this the past couple of days. sends kind of low level clouds our way. we could see a couple of showers tomorrow with this kind of pattern. don't think we will see any in the immediate metro area. i really think most will stay on the other side of the bay just a lot of clouds tomorrow but temperature wise very nice. clouds on friday. and clouds kind of linger into friday morning. even throughout the day on friday. but not much in terms of green blobs or showers. couple of showers down from fredericksburg and that is it. the clouds will do us a favor and keep us cool. so who is going to complain about that. satellite picture. radar combined. we see some big storms in parts of the plains states. big storms to the south and some showers off to the north and we will talk more about that as we get into the end of the weekend.

likely asleep when the woman approached him, shot him in the head then twice in the chest then again in the head before turning the gun on herself. police also learned about the state of her mind leading up to the shooting. >> she had told friends and associates that her life was messed up and she was going to end it all. she also recently learned before this day she believed steve mcnair was involved with another woman and that too participated in her state of mind, we think. >> meanwhile police released this video tonight of the woman's dui arrest from last thursday night. steve mcnair was in the car at the time but not charged with any crime. he bailed her out of jail later that night. >> we transition back to sports. if you went downtown tonight to watch tennis you walked away disappointed. if you went as many do just to stare at anna.
