sunday, if i was going to pick one of the two weekend days, i would pick saturday. there's a better chance for thunderstorms on sunday with high temperatures a little bit warmer in the mid to upper 80s. let's talk about the short-term now, partly cloudy skies, pleasant conditions overnight. sunset at 8:35. during the day tomorrow, partly sunny, mild another nice day with the high temperature around 82 degrees. the normal high is 88. we're not going to come close to that until we get into the weekend, and the tail end of the forecast is going to be like the beginning right now, picking up a little bit of cloud cover out there this evening, there's a weak system passing by to the west producing some rain showers in west virginia and western part of virginia. most of that is going to miss us, and the only thing it will deposit is a little bit of cloud cover overnight, and that will keep the temperatures a little bit warmer. right now, it's really nice, upper 70s and low 80s.

the key to our forecast here over the next couple of days will be the wind direction. in the short-term, the winds have historied to the northeast, and -- shifted to the northeast, and that's why we had a mild day today, and we will have another one tomorrow. as soon as the winds turn to the south on saturday, that's when we will start to increase the temperatures and get the humidity a little bit more into the uncomfortable range. the major player in our weather scenario is this big high pressure coming down the east coast, but right now the flow is producing the east and northeast wind. as soon as the high gets parallel with us and moves off even further, the surface wind turn to the south, and we will see the increase in the temperatures, and then the video we showed you from a few minutes ago producing the thunderstorms out here in kansas city, this system will inch its way over towards the heat and humidity and gives us thunderstorms towards the tail end of the weekend. you can see the heat building here in the southern plains states, temperatures upper 80s and low 90s right now. it's 102 in dallas, but 89 in kansas city, and a chunk of that heat will slide over towards us

for the weekend. this is not going to be anything serious, just a little bit closer to normal so to speak by the time we get to saturday and sunday. early next week, a front comes through, and we do it again, drop the temperatures into the low to mid-80s on monday and tuesday with overnight low temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s. so our mild trend will continue at least for the next seven days. there's no 90-degree temperatures, no heat index near 100, no code reds or anything like that. so smooth sailing for the next seven days. >> also no complaints here. >> there you go. >> thanks. >> you know, brett, it's one of those names that longtime washingtonians will know. >> donald dell has an extremely high honor this weekend, and you don't know who he is and you're from washington, you need to because he's one of the most important sports figures in our town. he never won a grand slam or was ranked, but he will receive the highest honor in the sport of tennis. he will be inducted into the
