i called t the white house to fd out. they say some staffers have been granted access to twitter, including the office's new media team which is in charge of the twitter account. the reason it's blocked for everyone else? it has to do with the presidential records act. every tweet has to be archived. it's not easy to do. so only certain people get access. but what about president obama? i'm told he is allowed to use twitter if he goes through the new media team. in the web center, i'm lindsey mastis, 9news now and wusa9.com. >> he has to go through the new media team. by the way, there are more than 700,000 people following the white house on twitter. best buy is buying in northern virginia. today the electronic chain signed a lease for a building along highland vista drive in ash burn. best buy says it plans to use that space for administrative offices. the company has about 20 stores all around the region.

11:14 pm
welcome back. good evening, everybody. i'm tony pann. it looks like for the most part the start of the weekend is going to be fine. let's start out with the three-day trend. it is going to get warmer and more humid on saturday. nothing unusual for this time of the year. we'll make it up to 91. but i think if i was going to pick one of the two weekend days, i would pick saturday instead of sunday. partly cloudy skies for the rest of the night. when you wake up tomorrow, temperatures will generally be in the 60s.
11:15 pm
there's still a 20 or 30% chance for a thunderstorm overnight. but for the most part, dry conditions. partly to mostly sunny skies tomorrow. the humidity will go up. the high temperatures will range between 88 and 93. sunrise tomorrow morning at 6:03. let's look at doppler 9000 and we'r pstlilicking upl few sher ts udanhunderstormsutd there. this was a lot moree aivct when we were with you earlier this evening. but still a few light showers and sprinkles showing up. these should be dissipating over the next couple of hours. so if you're watching and have you a little rain, it shouldn't last that long. nothing around the city and the northern suburbs are quiet ativ the present time. let's look at the current temperatures, right now we're in the upper 70s and low 80s. the dew points are running in the mid 60s. so the dew points have come up a little bit from earlier this evening. 70 in winchester at the top of the hour. 78 downtown. under partly cloudy skies for most of you. and, again, we'll cruise back
11:16 pm
into the 60s probably bottominga out at 62, 63. we'll see some temperatures. temperatures made it up to around 95, 96 again in dal list. it's still 88 -- dallas. it's still 88 there. a chunk of the heat will make it over here. that's why we bumped the temperatures into the low 90s on saturday. but the whole pattern is about to shift a little bit. by the time we get to the middle of next week, the dip in the jet stream is going to push back to the west. that means the core of the cool air will be up in the great lakes instead of near here. so the temperatures will be a little closer to average, i think, for most of next week. nothing unusual. you wouldn't call it hot for the end of july. upper 80s to around 90 degrees. and unfortunately i think the best rain for rain in our seven-day forecast will be on sunday. about a 30% chance for a thunderstorm each day next week. but those would just be hit and miss type storms. and, again, the temperatures about where they should be at the end of july. upper 80s to around 90. >> thank you, tony.
11:17 pm
>> all right. >> we appreciate that. astronauts from the space shut eevondeaur spent their day installing fresh batteries. but these are not your average every day energize er bunny type bad bath reez. first of all, they are -- batteries. first of all, they are three feet long. they also cost three and a half million bucks apiece. and did i mention the fact that to plug them in, you have to bewaring a space suit? okay. >> i wouldn't want to drop one of those. no. when you hear water aerobics, a lot of people think, you know, a low impact workout for older folks. but tonight an aquatic workout that definitely takes things up a notch in living well. >> advanced aerobics phenomena with the zip ee name of zumba has gained popularity all over the world. now the next challenge. >> i think it's a little harder in the water. >> i step out of the pool feeling a lot more winded. >> these workouts combine the
11:18 pm
same cardio workout as traditional zumba with the natural resistance of the water. >> all right. it's resistant to every movement that you do. so basically it's kind of like you have dumbbells. >> pool workouts are great for rehab. they take pressure and pounding off the joints. >> i just had my knee and my hip replaced. and it seemed like it was pretty good therapy. stress is minimal in the pool. >> balance is the key here or you may just float out of rhythm. >> when you're keeping your body tight, you're burning more calories and toning up more. you're tired and burning more calories. >> of course when the instructor is in town, it's infectious. plus it helps you push yourself to burn more calories. >> her energy is just unmatched. >> it's invigorating. >> you have to scream when i
