will be given by injection. only seasonal flu vaccine will be available in a nasal mist. anacostia high school is in need of repairs after a fire ripped through the southeast campus this morning. dc fire and ems was called to the st fo10:30. flames engulfed an unoccupied fs m.af mbf sterme floor srasoom. staff member and students were evacuated. the cause is under investigation. right now police are trying to identify a body found inside of a burning car in bethesda. the discovery was made around 4:00 a.m. at the intersection of arlington road and bradley boulevard. montgomery county police and the fire marshal's office are investigating. we're learning more about the drunk driving arrest of alexandria police chief david baker was arrested around 11:00 on saturday night after he ran in to a city vehicle -- after he ran a city vehicle in to another car trying to merge on to 66. as peggy fox reports the

accident happened in arlington county where the arresting officer say that baker acted and sounded very intoxicated. >> reporter: the accident happened along the 66 ramp at fairfax drive. police say that david baker, strand police chief caused the wreck which slightly injured the woman. in court documents the arresting officer reports that baker smelled of alcohol and was repetitive and hesitant and had a blood alcohol content of twice the legal limit. >> i think it is terrible. police should be setting an example for everybody else and when something like that happens it is very unfortunate. >> reporter: the officer reported that baker admitted to drinking two beers 20 minutes before the accident. some found that laughable. >> he said he only had two beers. >> he weighs 38-pounds. >> you don't buy two beers. >> not at .19. >> reporter: a police sergeant gave him a field sobriety steps. he had him walk nine steps and turn and hold his leg up 30

ordered held without bond. she's accused of holding up a sun trust bank in woodbridge. police believe she is responsible for two robberies in lorton and alexandria. crawford was arrested after a trooper spotted her stuck in rush hour traffic on i-95 following one of the heists. the state of the dc mother accused of killing her four daughters is now in the hands of the judge. prosecutors and defense attorneys presented closing argues in the jacks trial. digital correspondent audrey barnes is joining us live from dc superior court with more. >> the judge says he needs until least wednesday to go over the testimony in the trial. 25 different prosecution witness, a handful from the defense. it is jacks own words that may put her behind bars for the rest of her life. in closing argues today, the prosecutor michelle jackson compared the house on sixth

street where jacks lived with her far daughters to abu ghraib prison in iraq. a house of torture, she says somewhere jacks systemically and methodically killed her girls one by one. starving them until they were too weak to exist. they didn't have to live that way, she says and didn't have to die that way. a trial watcher who has been in the courtroom since day one says prosecutors proved the case against jacks. >> as a layperson it is proved beyond a reasonable doubt. i have no doubt she did it. >> reporter: after interrogation by this lead detective and others say that no one else came in the house. four different medical examiners and several forensic experts testified they believe 16-year-old brittany was stabbed. her three sisters were beaten and strangled. defense attorney asked the judge to consider the fact that

days following the december 24th attack outside of holy redeemer church on bear win road. a woman received a 28 year sentence after pleading guilty to a second degree attempted murder charge. this just in to the information center, 7 people arrested in north carolina are being charged with supporting terrorism. all seven were found in the raleigh area. the justice department says daniel boyd trained and fought in afghanistan between ' 89 and ' 92. when he returned to the u.s. he started to recruit others. we will have more on the story as it becomes available. now to a stiffer sentence for a man convicted of plotting to kill former president president george w. bush. ahmed alie was originally sentenced to 30 years in prison after convicted in 2005 but an appeals court felt that sentence was too lenient. so today a federal judge sentenced him to life. montgomery county executive ike leggett introduced a new pedestrian safety campaign

york city. >> reporter: a 36-year-old mother drove her minivan more than a mile and a half against traffic on a highway north of new york city. then it struck another car head on. killing eight people. investigators now say she might have been sick. >> she called her brother because she wasn't feeling well and she didn't indicate specifically what was bothering her but it was obvious something was wrong because her brother asked her to pull over. >> reporter: but there is no shoulder on this stretch of the parkway. the driver, diane schuller, her daughter and three nieces were killed. so were all three men in the suv. emergency workers were able to save her 5-year-old son, now in the hospital. his father is keeping vigil. >> there were i believe six cellular 911 phone calls that were received recording her driving the wrong way. authorities are waking for toxicology test results to come back but they have no reason to believe that schuller was under

much. >> around here it is hot. >> for most of the summer we have been lucky. we have had almost fall-like weather but this week and in to next weekend it could be like normal. normal july weather here in dc. look at the three-day trend first and start with that. the afternoon temperature is 89. we will be right around that mark the next three days and typically we will have some hit and miss thunderstorms in the afternoon. actually just about every day this week. so don't cancel any plans, but just be prepared late in the afternoon in the heat and humidity for a couple of storms to pop up and that is possible tonight, as well. 30% chance of a shower or thunderstorm. lows upper 60s and low 70s and muggy out there. winds are light and variable. and sunset 8:24. during the day tomorrow, a mixture of sunshine and clouds and repeat of today. a chance of shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. not everyone will see the rain. high temperatures upper 80s to around 90 degrees.

sunrise tomorrow morning. switch over to live doppler 9000. the beaches are getting hammered this evening. a lot of activity along the delmarva beaches. i have seen several warnings issued and the southern tip of virginia reedville, for example you are getting in on the heavy rain but for us in the metro area nothing going on. a little shower popping up in the western part of louden county but generally quiet conditions for most of you watching out there this evening. switch over and talk about the weather set up. a couple of things are triggering these events. a wind shift line at the beach. it is a trigger mechanism for the thunderstorms there and we have a cold front on the other side of the mountains. that's been inching toward us since yesterday. it will probably make it through here late tonight or tomorrow morning and dissipate, but that might be enough to keep the chance of a thunderstorm in the forecast. 85 at the top of the hour at national airport with a dew point of 65. that's why it fees so muggy.

we have spent most of the summer with dew.s in the 50s. 87 at bwi but much cooler on the eastern shore with the clouds and showers and 76 in georgetown. here's the weather set up as we head through the week. a shift in the jet stream. for most of the summer it has been in the east coast and now it will move to the west and it will mean the cool temperatures go to the west. and a little heat sneaks up the east coast. nothing unusual. we're talking typical summer weather for the rest of the week and a lot of thunder bolts on that seven-day forecast. don't let that scare you. these will be typical hit and miss thunderstorms and the heat and humidity of the afternoon. while there is a 30% chance of a thunderstorm each day that also means there is a 70% chance it won't rain. the high temperatures upper 80s to around 90 in to the beginning of the weekend. that's the way it is supposed to be in dc at the end of july.

advisers and counselors. i will say that one of the most important things that we talked about is nobody gets through life alone. that you always have to have a mentor. you have somebody who will give you guidance, support at critical moments. michael needs that right now. i asked tony to play a formal role to serve as a mentor to michael and help him and guide thymol some difficult decisions he's going to have to make going forward. i do not expect him to be the only mentor but will be a big part of determining who will be advisers to him but i know tony and michael who i spoke with earlier in the conference call, both take it seriously and are committed to making sure they work closely together to make better decisions going forward. i do believe that this transitional approach that we have outlined for michael is the best thing for him. that it will have the best

opportunity to lead to suck cease for a young man who has his life ahead of him, whether he makes it on the field for the nfl is that something that will be determined on the field but he has some gig decisions off the field to make in the way he conducts himself. i think he is at a point where he is prepared to make those decisions and hopefully conduct himself in a more positive way. i have said repeatedly and many times before that playing in the nfl is a privilege. we are held to a higher standard. and it is not a right to be an nfl player. i think michael clearly understands that and his responsibility and i think it is his opportunity now to earn the opportunity to get that privilege back again and that's up to michael. one final point -- >> we have been listening live to nfl commissioner roger goodell talk about michael vick's reinstatement in to the league. again, a conditional reinstatement in which he

artfully chocolate lathe on 14th street northwest. a warning for beach goers out there most of us are cautious when the surf gets rough but what many don't know how dangerous even small waves can be. this is a practice drill for life guards in ocean city, maryland. a mock rescue of someone whose been slammed to the ground by a wave. >> one, two, three. >> wet sand is no more forgiving than concrete. >> whenever you are ready. >> reporter: the captain of the ocean city beach patrol says every season his life guards handle 100 rescues of swimmers that hit the ocean floor. >> the problem with these types of injuries they happen in a split second. josh basil was paralyzed from the shoulders down after thrown by a wave. >> i was just in waist-high water. the wave came behind me and
