7:17 pm
that is something for them. >> i have seen tremendous games and their abilities to use their hands and all of that, to use their legs. the question is, will there be money to hire new conductive education teachers? for nine news now and wusa9.koápld. this is that time of the year when every other day, theyed could have a thunderstorm. maybe every day. >> yes. >> they could have that thunderstorm in it. >> no doubt. you could put this on there just about every day and be covered. well it feels like a little tropical out there tonight. the humidity has gone up. you speak of the tropics, just looking in the weather office and something surprised me. we have not had one tropical storm or hurricane out there.
7:18 pm
yet this season. >> no name storms? >> we are almost into the middle of august. that is very unusual, yes. there is nothing on the horizon, at least nothing that i see that could possibly develop out there. >> you're not going to complain about that? >> no. just very unusual to go this far or this deep into the tropical season. and that is without any activities. we'll see if that continues. we're going to throw off a few thunderstorms into the forecast here over the next 24 hours. and i think that tomorrow, probably the best chance for rain this week. and until we get, well, maybe into the beginning of next week, let's start with the three-day trend first. i don't think that we'll see the round of the severe weather coming through. but still, the chance for rain, they are going up significantly on wednesday. but maybe up to 60 or 50%. and then that is dry weather. they are closing out the work waoáeb. they will be kind of nice on thursday and friday. most of you will see the dry weather through the night. it will be muggy, low temperatures down around there, during the day.
7:19 pm
that is high temperatures, upper 80s to around 90. southwest winds at 10 to 15. right now, 87 degrees at the national airport with the dew point at 65. that's why it feels uncomfortable. producing that relative humidity. they are falling out there and hat is because we have lettli system approaching from the west. 79 degree, the cool spot out there if you want to call it that. 81 in wind chester and 84 out there at the air station. again, everyone will settle back down into the upper 60s and low 70s by tomorrow morning. here's the weather setup. a little disturbance going through the upper levels of the atmosphere. this might be the trigger mechanism for the widely scattered showers or thunderstorms tonight. again, we put a 30 or 40% chance on that. then we could see some of the activity coming out of the mountains around here. and maybe, well, new markets. a couple little showers approaching out there. these, they will continue to develop as we head through the night tonight. so a couple of you, you will
7:20 pm
get the passing showers. most will not. and most otte thactivityey are on the other side of the mountains going through the ohio value hraoefplt big clusters of the thunderstorms there. dying out and moving to the southeast. that one will miss us. front that triggered the storms, they are going to come through here during the day tomorrow. you'll see them scattered around probably in the afternoon, best chance for rain. and behind this front, they are less humid air masses. they will feel quite comfortable on thursday and friday. after that, they will have a little buckle in the jet stream that will move back to the north. that means that they get to come in from the south. they will kind of be right on the dividing line between the hot air masses and a comfortable one up in the northeast. i don't think that we'll get quite into the the core of the heat. but we'll be close enough to push the temperatures out there to near 95 perhaps, by monday of next week. we'll be in the low 90s over the weekend. each one of those days, a slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm. and then a cold front that will sweep through here on tuesday. it looks like to get rid of the heat and the humidity, with the temperatures, they are falling back into the 80s. that's been the trend for most
7:21 pm
of the summer. you know, even if we get a day or two of the significant heat. it doesn't stick around very long. that'll be the case again this time. >> all right, thank you, tony. let us get to the weird news, following a contest that most of us just wouldn't have the stomach to win. and it is new york city in the ninth annual pickle eating contest. that even looks hard. all about who could eat the most pickles in a five minute period. this guy, i think it is pronounced, showing off his stuff, three pounds of hard sour pickles. this guy, he won a national burrito contest. i could do the ribs. >> right. >> not pickle. >> those things, they actually taste good. at least for the first coup ofl pounds anyway. three pounds of sour pickles. i'm getting heartburn just thinking about it. >> wow. you're the man. >> yes. center we want to hear what you think. send your e-mails to the address, mail bag at wusa9.com.
