controversial politicians in our area and today's "washington post" article will probably add to that controversy. those who dislike barry will probably say, eh, more of the same. those who love barry will say it's no big deal. the "washington post" says council member marion barry has been six times more generous than his peers when it comes to awarding outside contracts using the taxpayers ' dime. the article claims there is little evidence of what taxpayers got in return. between twerch and 2009, the board eight council member dolls doubt $252,000 for outside contractors for consulting work, media relations and temporary workers. some money may have been for political campaigning and not constituent services according to the post. the second biggest spender was brown, whose office spent $45,000 during the same time period. the council's contracting policies are being investigated

because of a recent scandal involving barry and a former girlfriend who he hired as a contractor. barry has repeat lid said he broke no laws in his contracting activity. nothing in the post article actually claims any of the activities the article are uncovered are illegal. at the wilson building, armando trull for 9 news now and wusa9.com. changes are coming to the dc fire department. according to a spokesman, the department is now staffing two of the city's six special water supply companies so they can respond to all reports -- reports of building fires in part of upper northwest and southeast and northeast. it comes after crews had problems with water pressure fighting the blaze at the home of the former school board president. a 2007 report recommended that all six of the city's special water supply units have around the clock staffing. but chief rubin said last week that the funding one available. you can read more about the

this 6month -old is recovering from surgery. meet tyson the boxer puppy got itself in to trouble by eating -- eating a comb. the vet says it could have killed him. >> poked through the stomach wall an through the diaphragm in his chest through the ribs and it was sticking out that way. >> the vet says he's never seen anything like it in his 30 year career. he says tyson is returning to his playful puppy self.
