home. the young man didn't come to the door. he calmed police. when police -- he called police. when police came inside, there was a small dog also killed. police believe two large pit bulls or pit bull mixes attacked and killed the 20-year- old man. chris jones with the leesburg police say the dogs have been taken out of the house by animal control. into they've been seized by loudoun county animal control. >> reporter: we're told there's two large pit bulls that may have been involved in the attack. there were two other dogs as well. >> that's correct. one dog was found deceased. another dog was alive, found in a cage. unharmed and alive. that dog has been removed as well. >> reporter: they are still investigating the death. they are waiting for autopsy results. police have not released this young man's name. but his friends and family members have been coming by the house all day and they've been

trash in, that's when i noticed it. >> reporter: doctors say with a swollen face, torn ear and lacerations all over her body, it's clear this dog was attacked. whether or not it was a dog site or she was attacked by other dogs. she definitely has puncture tags. she's called trooper. trooper can walk, eat and doctors are amazed at how well she's doing. >> what's most surprising is how good she is and how happy she is. she is just the sweetest dog. >> reporter: now that trooper is safe, russell can turn her concerns from finding out who hurt trooper. >> without any help from the community or any leads, we can't say. >> reporter: and they continue
