from the first local station with news in high definition, this is 9news now. >> is your neighborhood on the list? 9news now has obtained the list of communities where poor water pressure could make fighting fires a tough task. good evening, i'm lesli foster. the preliminary report into the fire at the home of community activist, peggy cooper referenced 34 locations in dc where water supply may be an issue. most of the neighborhoods and the buildings were a mystery until now. digital correspondent tells us where they are and explains what it all means in this 9news

now exclusive. >> reporter: 39th and t north of georgetown university. 29th and p in georgetown. the 1300 block of northwest, 23rd and wyoming northwest. taylor street northeast. catholic university, and trinity university. all are locations that the dc water and sewer authority and the fire department have identified over erthlast t years where there have been concerns about water. >> we live right there, so i think that d ulwo bebia g issue. >>re: poer brtstsejuauec the neighborhood is on the list of 34 locations, doesn't mean it has an inadequate water supply, similar to what happened when firefighters tried to fight the blaze two weeks ago. that is only one reason that an area is on the list. >> it could be hydrant locations, gallons per minute slow. access, geography. >> reporter: the fire department says the reason they have the list is to prevent what happened on cambridge road, knowing what special water concerns needs.

>> we have many solutions in place. >> i'm sure they have it r au unde ontro i'm not too worried about it. >> reporter: the fire department says thnt do have it under control and believe those who live at one of these locations have no reason to worry what could be issues impacting water supply. >> we want to insure everyone that their areas are safe and we have plans in place to address any kind of concerns that they might have. >> reporter: also new today, spokesman says fire officials will be making new recommendations to wasa to upgrade the standard use to determine the amount of water that should be available to fight fires. in a lesson learned by the fire, the department wants wasa to meet a standard that reaches higher gallons her minute. you can see two of the locations at wusa9.com. two spots were left off. lesli, two years ago, fire officials said that there are smaller water mains around the white house complex. >> are you telling us that

people should not be overly concerned about this? >> the fire department says it is good that they know where it is. on cambridge road, they didn't know about it. they know about this. they have water supply companies in service. they can respond immediately, and try to work around the problems. >> thanks for that reporting. now to anger and frustration today in maryland as senator ben karr begin held another town hall meeting and the topic again, healthcare. >> your government has lost the faith and trust of the american people. >> isn't this a sample of what happened inside and outside the auditorium. scott broome has more. >> reporter: the now familiar anger continues to boil over. >> your government has lost the faith and trust of the american people. >> reporter: a 440 seat auditorium at the college. people here to grill maryland

senator, ben cardin at another town hall style meeting. >> why are you afraid of the book, senator? >> in the reform, we want private doctors and private hospitals. we are not looking at trying to get employees of the government providing healthcare for our citizens. it will be private doctors and hospitals. we are talking about how will we pay for it? >> reporter: outside, a measure of the growing ground swell, an even larger crowd that couldn't get in. >> if congress would vote like we elected them to vote, this wouldn't be happening. >> i don't think we should have a situation where somebody says, i'm sick, i need care and i don't have the money. i think that is absolutely immoral. >> no one is going to buy you a car. no one is going to buy your food. you better be buying it yourself. >> reporter: here in hagerstown, more people than ever are now engaging. although nearly everyone here already has their mind made up.

the hagerstown community college, scot broome. in virginia, congressman jerry connoly scheduled their own town halls. hillary clinton is making news during our tour of africa. this time over comments she made about the 2000 presidential election. she said democracy in this country is not perfect. saying quote, our democracy is still evolving. you know we've had all kinds of problems and some of our past elections, as you might remember. in 2000, our presidential election came down to one state where the brother of the man running for president was the governor of the state. so we have our problems, too, end quote. the state department spokesperson says the comments stand on their own. >> authorities say a domestic fight led to a culpeper man setting a woman on fire. investigators say the woman he was driving with, he was 45- year-old james anderson and he was inside that car with the

woman and his daughter in the backseat. her daughter, i should say, when she pulled over. anderson sprayed her with a flammable liquid. this happened monday night near route 29. the 37-year-old woman suffered buheneck, her head, and her hand. her 12-year-old daughter was not hurt. >> it really is unusual for us to have this type of situation where somebody uses this method to set someonon fire. d anderson has been arge with reckless endangerment of a minor and grand larceny. assault charges are pending. metro rail service is back to normal tonight, following a death on the tracks tonight. metro says a man was struck and killed by a train at the west falls church station and they say that man was intentionally on the tracks. regular metro service resumed at 2:00 this afternoon.

the enincident is the latest in a recent string of bad news for metro and now there is an online effort to oust metro's general manager. an online petition is circulating on facebook, calling for metro's board of directors to fire kato. at last check, 75 people signed it, kato's three-year contract expires in the beginning of 2010. we'll have more at 11:00. you'd expect a judge to be a model citizen. but when a woman parked, he decided to flatten her tires. she spoke with lindsey about the ordeal. >> i was really upset. i was almost in tears. >> gene washington says because of construction, she has been parking along this street for a few weeks. but when she parked there monday -- >> one of the security guards said to me, he said someone from holding called over and said judge nellie flattened your tire. >> she worked for nearly 13

years. she thought the restricted parking signs were meant for visitors. >> the only warning that i got was that my tire was flattened. >> the judge has not apologized and he wouldn't go on camera, but he talked with me before. he said when other cars are parked in his spot, he left notes, but decided against it this time. he said quote, notes are not terribly effective. letting air out of tires is. >> had there been a note, i wouldn't have parked there. >> washington says she wants the judge held responsible for his actions. >> usually when someone has disrupted someone else's property, they are usually given a fine. i would like to know what's going to happen in this case. >> the police chief says he is investigating the incident and does not know whether there will be any charges. in charles county, i'm lindsey, 9news now and wusa9.com. police would not talk with

crime is down in the district this year and that fact makes last night's violence all the more newsworthy. seven people were shot in five separate incidents. one person died. all in the span of nine hours. police have little information on the suspects in those cases. the search resumed this morning for shakita bell. she disappeared 13 years ago. her on again, off again boyfriend has since confessed to killing her and he has cooperated with police, guiding them in the search for her remains. today, police search some woods near fort washington, but they did not find her remains. sky 9 was over this house fire on symphony woods court in silver spring. investigators say the fire started on the deck and involved two propane tanks. no one was home at the time and no one was injured. president obama awarded the presidential medal of freedom

watching for the immediate metro area overnight and into tomorrow. let's go to live doppler 9,000 and we'll pinpoint some of the activity. again, around town, pretty quiet. you know, some showers off north of annapolis and some showers along the delmarva. these showers are back to the west. we'll put this into motion. these storms progress southeastward across 66 toward warnton. these showers hang around the bay between annapolis and gibson island. now we'll zoom in to a couple individual storms. no warnings on these storms yet, but we do know they have heavy rain fall rates and the potential for a little bit of hail. particularly in this storm, just to the north of leesburg, it is moving off to the south and east. we'll zoom into this storm. see this magenta here? a good indication there could be small hail. as you go northward. it is tracking, it will move across 15. it looks like in the next hour or so. in the next hour, here we go.

we'll track it for you. and moves across the river over towards dickerson. around 28. again that's the next hour. now back to the west and these storms back to the west have weakened somewhat. we are concerned about them. pretty good rain fall from millwood. there's paris, and it's on the doorstep. rainy right now, looks like in paris and it will move off to the south and to the east and eventually towards 66 and marshall. back to the computer we go. temperatures, well it is better than it has been. 84 downtown. high was 87. 82 in frederick. look at winchester, 69. you know why? we just saw radar. tomorrow morning, partly sunny, warm, showers and storms again. 50s and 70s and by afternoon, partly sunny and warm. showers and thunderstorms. we get a break on temperatures again. high temperatures near 85 degrees. here's a look at the zone forecast for you. 84 in the planes tomorrow.
