paying special attention to water issues. >> taylor street northeast are two more of the locations the dc fire and dms department identified for special attention. the fire at the home of former school board president. but dc fire spokesman says the amount of water isn't the only reason a neighborhood or building is on the list. >> it could be a hydrant location. gallons per minute flow. flow issues. access. geography. >>de fe mepartirnt says it put plans in place to address the problems at each of the locations. >> you want to insure everyone that areas are safe and we have plans in place to address any kind of concerns that they might have. >> i'm lindsey in charles county. it's not something you would expect, but a judge is accused of letting the air out of someone's tire after they parked in his space. >> i was really upset. i was almost in tears. >> jean washington says

because of construction, she has been parking along this street for a few weeks. but when she parked there monday -- >> one of the security guards said to me, he said jean, someone from holding called over and said judge nellie flattened your tire. >> she thought the restricted parking signs were meant for visitors. he has not apologized and he wouldn't go on camera. he said he left notes when cars parked in his spot, but decided against it this this time. he said quote, notes are not terribly effective. letting air out of tires is. the police chief says he is still investigating the incident and does not know whether there will be any charges. in culpeper, virginia, where authorities say a domestic dispute escalated when a man they say filled a squeeze bottle with flammable liquid, sprayed it on the woman and set her on fire. investigators say 45-year-old james anderson was in the passenger seat with a woman

driving and her 12-year-old daughter in the backseat. they say anderson set her ablaze near atlantis road and route 29 near culpeper, virginia. authorities say the 37-year-old woman suffered burns on her neck, head, and hand. the 12-year-old girl is okay. >> i can't answer for the suspect as far as what mental process he was going through or why he chose gasoline. but i certainly think that, you know, the possibility you mentioned as far as disfigurement would be one, possibly making this woman unattractive to others. >> pau.s. marshals captured anderson last night in southeast washington. an update on the pit bull story. first the case out of leesburg. those two pit bulls that mauled their owner to death have been put down. family members of 20-year-old carter met with the loudoun county animal control officials and they agreed to euthanize those animals. and the reward in the capture

of whoever is responsible for the torture and near killing of a pit bull puppy in dc has more than doubled. the humane society of the united states is offering $2500, now that's in addition to the $1500 put up by the dc humane society. that brings the total reward to $4,000. the pit bull puppy now called trooper was thrown in a dumpster and left to die after apparently losing a fight. the humane society says she is in another long fight just to stay alive. more than 204 students are hoping to use vouchers to attend private schools this fall. but they are dismantelling the voucher program. the story now from bruce johnson. >> reporter: four-year-old nia thomas had been told that come september, she would be enrolling in the same private school that her brother now attends. >> do you have any idea what you want to be when you grow up? >> yes. >> what?

>> a doctor. >> a doctor? wow, why is that? >> because i want to help people. >> reporter: niko's private education is made possible by a $7500 voucher provided by the congress. that same money had been promised to his little sister until the obama administration and the fenty administration decided to end the program that allows a few students from places like barry farms to attend private and parochial schools. >> now this experiment is showing that low income ch en ildrra can excel. >> she says her daughter was given a voucher only to have it revoked. thw saying for ilmo saying for ulwoinntco, uevoucrs would continue, but only for students already enrolled in private schools. >> i had a letter of authorization stating that she would get a scholarship. >> president who i support said no kid should be in a failing school. for these 216 kids will end up going to failing dc public schools when they were told they could go to a private school. >> reporter: this is not about

not having the money. the congress appropriated funds to keep the 216 voucher positions going this year and senators lieberman and feinstein introduced a bill that would keep the program going for another five years. the voucher program benefited more than 300 students. niko will keep his voucher through high school. bruce johnson, 9news now and wusa9.com. the obama administration has been opposed to using federal dollars to pay private and parochial school tuition. the opportunity scholarship program costs $14 million every year. the dc mayoral race is right around the corner, but is mayor fenty a shoe in? we'll talk about that after the break. stay with us. 3f?f?f?f

the incumbent, mayor adrian fenty. that according to some analysis of a new poll that is rattling around out there. washington examiner reporter, one of those who took a look at this poll. we have to note, this poll looked at three wards. a little weird. looking at the numbers, the new approval rating for 63%. he doesn't look vulnerable with that. >> no, one of the things that people are seeing is that 46% of the voters said they would gladly consider another option other than fenty. as you know, fenty operates on the assumption that he likes to be adored. so to have that big of decent, people saying we are keeping our options open, that's a big deal. >> i don't know, how flawed is it the fact that there are eight wards in town. what does this mean? > across the board. polls are not necessarily scientific. i don't think they are ironclad, but in as much as

they are effective. fenty takes it seriously. in as much as they are effective. the fact is, wards one, three, and six are the bread basket of fenty's support. when he is pitching his reforms, he is talking to people in those wards. if they aren't with them, he is in deep trouble. >> the second most popular politician is someone who isn't a politician at all. she gets high marks as well, even though some critics for her. >> in one way, it is expected that she is popular, especially again in those wards where they are december pratt to hear a reform message. on the other hand, it seems if you read these findings, it shows there is a great deal of skepticism and maybe people are beginning to peel off their support. >> we should know, this is so early, there hasn't been any talk of the election yet. there are other politicians who would love to be mayor. in this poll, they are not popular at all. >> no, michael brown especially. but i'll throw a name out there

getting hammered. for that, we'll go to live doppler 9,000. this is the activity we are concerned about. around town, pretty quiet. you know, a couple showers out to the west. by and large, heaviest activity along the delmarva and beaches. we'll zoom into a couple of storms. movement is to the east. this arrow indicates the movement. and those storms up toward aldi, which has been working its way down 50 headed eventually toward middleburg. we'll put these into motion. what happens is this one dies out. this one around warrenton slips eastward as it moves off to the south and east. we will keep showers and storms in the forecast all tonight and all tomorrow. all right, back to the computer we go. temperatures, not bad. 70s now. 78 in gaithersburg, upper 70s for wood bridge and fredericksburg. tomorrow, partly sunny and warm. showers and storms are possible. 60s and 70s. by afternoon, partly sunny and warm. showers and storms possible.

we all know there are guys out there that like to dress up in lady's underwear and we say to each his own. it ought to anbe his own underwear. investigators found several garbage bags full of women's under garments. apparently all of it was stolen. this guy looks like an outstanding citizen caught red handed, actually wearing drawers that belong to a female neighbor. he was busted in his neighbor's garage trying to grab some more. the boyfriend wrestled him to the ground. she began to notice several of her under garments missing. he has no previous criminal history, but judging from the amount of underwear, there were a lot ofother victims, not surprisingly, neighbors said hey, he's a nice guy. i never expected. we want to hear what you think, send your e-mails to
