good evening, i'm leslie foster. risking lives or just doing her job. my toe is under pressure -- metro is under pressure tonight for a bus driver accused of talking on the cell phone while mind the wheel. >> reporter: it started with this picture posted to a blog by a rider on the bus. he complained that the driver got off the bus, made a call, got yelled at by other riders, climb back on, and pulled away before hanging up. here's the reaction two weeks ago for metro's gm. >> the policy is very clear. you cannot operate a metro vehicle or bus while using a cell phone to be talking or texting. and the policy is clear, what will happen if it is determined that is what you have done. >> you'll be fired. zero tolerance. but this driver, they have only sube deenenthspbewid pay and t union is pushing for her to be

returned to duty. union firms insist she never moved the bus while on the phone and they say that she was calling the central control center because her radio had died and she was stuck in heavy traffic. >> it didn't move the bus and she was calling them. that should be okay. >> well based on that particular thing, definitely not to be fired. >> the union officials say that a rider on the bus confirms that the driver story happened. they said that metro has a tape of the driver's conversations with the control center and the union president says she can't figure out why it has taken so long to put the driver back on duty. >> metro instituted the zero tolerance policy to send a clear message that calling and driving is unacceptable. but the devil is often in the details. in washington, bruce, nine news now and wu sr. a9.com. metro declined to comment today. a spokeswoman says that it is never going to or rather they never talked about ongoing

personnel investigation. now to a ray of hope for them and her family. today, the focus is on a shoe found during the search of woods out there in fort washington. our scott has the latest developments in the 13-year-old's murder. >> reporter: detectives aren't sure what to make of this shoe. one thing, family members who were here view it as a tantalizing clue in this case. the sandal was found by heavy equipment operators being directed by d.c. homicide detectives in some woods here. off of old fort road. she was murdered in 1996, but her body was never found. her boyfriend at the timed admitted to the killing in a 2008 plea deal. and directed searchers to this general area here in fort washington. this is a second attempted digging out there. bell's aunt was so sure that the shoe belonged to bell. she tried it on for size. >> yes, it fits. me and my niece wore the same

building in d.c. to read from her biography tomorrow night. the 26-year-old, west washington native, they hope that they would change their public image. only one of 11 soldiers found guilty of doing that nearly five years ago. now to a deadly and fiery end to a police chase in detroit. a news helicopter, they captured the chase, the crash, and that explosion, just as they happened this morning. the officials, they say that the driver was killed on impact. they believe that the truck was stolen and that is why they pursued the driver. the california crews, they could sure use a little rain to help put out a huge wildfire. those flames, they are threatening hundreds of homes, more than 600 people cleared out of the small town just south of san jose. so far, no injuries have been reported. the fire started yesterday and they quickly grew to nearly two miles by this afternoon. >> just south of those wildfires, the neighbors, they were running for cover because of a bear on the loose. and a camera, they caught up with him, just wanting to go for a swim. you know, a little hungry.

lows mid-60s in the suburbs. low 70s downtown. and winds northeasterly at 10. let me show you the live doppler 9,000. these are the same storms moving away from baltimore. actually, they worked their way southward, down out there and around the parkway and also down i-95. well, we'll zoom in. nothing severe, but pretty good rain fall right there. diminishing a little bit out there and the tensity, this storm is running down the green belts. pretty heavy rainfall down there around the boulevard over towards college park. and also this storm, they are just heading down towards the 50s. so if you are headed east 50 towards annapolis, you'll run into this thunderstorm over the next 20 days or so muchment again, heavy rains. that's it. no hail oring strong gusty winds. all right, back to the computer we go. we'll talk about the temperatures. and now, they are warm, but not out of the ordinary. 85 downtown. that's below average for this time of the year. notice baltimore, they are 45. they have been rain cooled. a shower earlier. those are the same showers pushing towards the park. now, not 90 out there.

that is under construction. 86 out there and 86 in cole pepper. low 80s down there. and even they are at 84 this hour. now tomorrow morning, partly cloudy and pleasant. 60s and 70s. winds easterly at 10 by the afternoon, partly cloudy and warmmy. then isolated thunderstorms. highs of 88, 84. not crazy warm. then winds out of the east at 10. that will keep temperatures out there a little bit. here is the model out there. and at 10:30 tonight, a couple sprinkles there. most of the activities, again towards the area. that's where they remain stationary. by tomorrow morning, a few clouds, that's about it. the showers are out there. by lunchtime tomorrow, a few clouds south. then by the evening, the showers again, south, a couple showers, they may develop out there if you're watching the hd. you could get that west of oakland. but even that is pretty far away. we're looking for pretty good patterns for the next several days into saturday, looking at partly cloudy skies with now showers, even at the shore.

welcome back everybody. brett haver is here in baltimore. the preseason games, they are no big deals for the veterans. but we have seen some rookies, they are walking along the stadium tonight with some eyes wide open. they are not in kansas anymore. >> if they thought that the pace of practice was another level, this will be a whole other stratosphere for the whole glimpse of that action. >> they will be getting more attention than most tonight, the first round pick out there, the former texas star, making their debut tonight, the 13th overall pick. but they are changing subjects for them and the defensive end. now, he's a linebacker. out there, eager to prove. they can do it at this level and that starts tonight. and mr. and we'll be, well, watching them and the nfl in my life. i'm actually going to suit up in a real live game for them in
