for more than 40 years. a lot of those people will be lining the sidewalks and the biways to bid farewell. now we turn to you. >> in sports. yesterday was uplifting if you are a redskins fan. they had to feel better about what was going on. today, starters have a few extra bumps and bruises after playing their longest minutes last night. if you were a part of the offense, the aches and pains don't matter. jason campbell and company have to be feeling good. with building scrutiny, the quarterback went 4 for 4, leading a touchdown on the redskins opening drive. 209 yards for slightly more than a half work. that was better than the other quarterback, tom brady. jim zorn gave his performance a thumb's up. >> i saw him being real sharp on a lot of the things that he did for the most part. i thought he stood strong on the pocket.

6:27 pm
to stand up and fight. that says a lot. we have a long way to go. >> the skins got a break from brady in the second and that may have been planned or because 350-pound albert haines worth landed on him. it is believed that brady keeps his shoulder today when bill was asked if x-rays were required. he would only say he would not get into a public diagnosis. they are tight lipped in new england. the maryland football team doesn't have the luxury of warmup games. instead, when they take on guys in other uniforms, it's going to count. they start keeping score one week from today. maryland opens the season out west, taking on california in a late one. a 10:00 kickoff last saturday. little is expected from a team. but just because you graduate seniors doesn't mean hope leaves with them. >> i think we can be as good as we want to be. everyone sees that we don't have a lot of starters back, but at the same time we have a
6:28 pm
lot of guys that played. we are going to surprise a lot of teams. >> we can't let all this negative media hype get us down. >> you want randy moss on the redskins basically was our conversation. >> okay, right now we have to go back to u.s. capitol steps where the casket carrying the body of senator kennedy has arrived and you are looking at the service. we are going to close out here. we'll see you back here at 11:00. b@
