we are talking about, the six- block area was was flooded in the region. just inside though beltway south of baltimore. we are thinking 165,000-gallons a minute so a very big -- good news it is shut off now. back to you. >> it is good news. picture of folks standing in the water. even though the water main has been shut down. we several crews heading to the scene and they will have the latest at 11:00. but earlier today we spoke to bill with the baltimore police. he's on the phone and this is what he had to say. >> i'm with the baltimore county fire department and police. they have their rescue squads out now. i think the most important message is we want to make sure that people, maybe coming from the washington area and this direction to stay away from this particular neighborhood here. >> all right. you are looking live once again at the flood in dunn dak,

maryland. it wasn't caused by the elements but a water main break. a six foot main shattered and you can see the results there. cars are under water and houses flooded and people wondering how long it will take to clear this away. as we said before the water main has been shut off and now looking at a massive cleanup. we will have more details later this evening. reporters are on the scene as we speak. now we get to montgomery county, maryland. police say they locked up a 17- year-old murder suspect. 35-year-old rosa vasquez was found the backyard of her home on castle terrace. that's in the briggs cheney area of silver spring. she had been reported missing earlier this month. now police arrested a 17-year- old and he's been charged with first-degree murder in the case. because of his age we cannot show you his mug shot. he had an argue with vasquez, killed her and placed her body in a plastic storage container

in the corner of the backyard. right now a car jacker on the loose, somewhere possibly in prince georges county. he led police on a wild chase last night. it started in prince william county, virginia where the suspect stole the car and held the driver captive. the chase ended with a five- vehicle mashup on saint barnabas road in oxon hill. several people including a virginia state trooper suffered minor injuries average dc police are posting a picture of a man who is terrorizing cab drivers. police say this have a man targeting cab drivers in northeast dc. he's taken money from two drivers in the vicinity of the 2200 block of 13th street in northeast. >> everybody has their personal fears. i just don't have any fears driving a cab. not only that, i have never been robbed. so that's a fear that i don't have that a lot of cab drivers

have who have been robbed. >> reporter: we will hope that fear never has to come to you, sir. dc police say if you have any information that may lead to an arrest, please give them a call. she used to be a teacher in montgomery county and now she's being taught a lesson. a judge sentenced her to six months in prison for distributing cocaine to a student. her attorney said she provided the cocaine to a tune in her home. she is supposed to report to jail on monday and she also faces three years of supervised probation t. now to a story we broke this afternoon on wusa9.com. prince georges county police have arrested local nba star west for possession of two hand guns and a shotgun. he plays for the cavaliers but he graduated from nor roosevelt high school in greenbelt. last night prince georges county police stopped him for making an unsafe lane change on his motorcycle on 495 but found he had two handguns and a shotgun with him. the cavaliers are yet to

comment. as you first saw the video on 9 news now we are talking about an under cover video of acorn. they appear to show employees advising people on how to skirt the law. yesterday, lawmakers proved to full the funding from acorn and today the agency says regardless of whether they run out of federal money or not they will stay in business. samantha hayes has the story wherever over the last 15 years acorn the largest community activist organization is estimated to have received $50 million from the federal government. lawmakers have moved to cut that funding. by an overwhelming vote, including 172 democrats, the house of representatives sent a strong message to the organization, no more money from taxpayers. >> protecting taxpayer dollars sometimes requires tough choices. but this is not one of them. >> a few people have embarrassed acorn and i think they are having their own investigation in to it, but we have to have our own scrutiny.

>> reporter: the action by congress was prompted by undercover video shot by conservative activists posing as a pimp and prostitute. acorn workers appear to be offering the couple advice. >> reporter: acorn says the tapes were doctored an an internal investigation is underway. >> i immediately took swift action, and i said, you know what, we're going to look at this. we're going to make a review from top to bottom. >> reporter: damage control efforts also include this video of the philadelphia acorn worker who says she was also approached by the film makers. >> when we got suspicious about the questions he was asking about the philadelphia acorn housing office we called the police and filed this report. >> reporter: acorn's chief executive officer says the organization gets most of its money from members and other supporter and it will continue the operations even if money is cut off from the federal government. in washington, i'm samantha

welcome back. metro is struggling tonight to save lives. seven people have intentionally stepped in front of subway trains in the last few months, and the latest victim is a 15- year-old boy at the columbia heights station, a few blocks from his school. metro leaders are urgently looking for ways to me vent more suicides. >> we have on video and so we can see this boy, you know, going from one side to the other. i mean he was looking -- now, maybe if that had been better

observed it could have been stopped. >> reporter: in fact, suicide experts say it is preventible. the rail lines in germany have been able to cut their suicide rate in half. the key look for warning signs and take them seriously. more deadly violence in afghanistan. officials say a u.s. service member and arcade canadian soldier have been killed in separate road side bombings. most attacks happen in the southern part of the country. the bombings are the latest in that wave of taliban attacks. new tonight an afghan national that left his country in fear of his life. he was once a tv star over there but now he works here in washington and found a new way to communicate with his former audience. digital correspondent lindsey mastis caught up with him at the voice of america. >> reporter: you could call him the ryan seacrest of afghanistan. he hosted the show afghan star. it is a lot like "american

a celebration is underway in london at the work house art center. that's the site of a former prison which is now blossoms in to a home for artists but it offers all kinds of art programs for adults and kids. peggy fox shows us what they are learning. >> if we had this when we were 18 it would have been easy. >> reporter: they are receiving

special instruction in a place that's been a hot bed of drama for years the former lorton prison, now the work house art center. >> they converted it and it is amazing to have this culture here in lorton, virginia. >> the center is celebrating the one-year anniversary while exploding with children's art programs of all kinds for all ages. the classes are taught by professional artists whose studios are right here. >> you have experts who bring part and passion for art in to the community and hopefully it permeates to the young children, fantastic. >> reporter: the artists are working with 12 schools in falls church and fairfax and prince william counties. the teachers can go to the schools or they are bus nod the center. >> one nice thing about coming here is we can provide students professional artists and educator with an a fantastic experience.

them's fighting words. moving on, yesterday i asked if any of you attractive ladies use your good looks to dodge a traffic ticket or two. and one writes -- you know, i honestly can't tell whether you are pulling my chain or that one a bit and i feel the same way about this letter from david in olney responding to yesterday's story about that woman who says she's been pulled over by the cops because she's so good looking. she ended it by writing a sign on the wind rear windshield asking police to leave her alone.
