hospital's er. witnesses say an elderly woman complaining of chest pain sat for more than six hours. when she was finally seen she went in to cardiac arrest and died. the hospital says an initial review finds her death could not have been prevented. the senate finance committee has dealt a fatal blow to the health care reform plan. yesterday a group of democrats and republicans voted twice to reject a government run health care option. the chairman of the committee said he blocked a public plan because there isn't enough support to pass the public option in the full senate. >> i can count, and no one has been able to show me how they can count up to 60 votes with a public option in the bill. >> reporter: democratic supporters of a public option argue that nonprofit government- run health care is needed to drive down costs by creating competition with for profit

people near the beach in pacifica, california are keeping an eye out because a tsunami advisory was issued. they have reported waves over two feet, not enough to threaten property near the beach but enough to threaten anyone in the water. so they are advising surfers who are probably looking at this as the next best thing to pay attention. >> a two foot wave to a surfer is -- they may not want to go out for them. >> the mold has been incredibly high this season and that is because it has been wetter than normal. >> the wetness kept us cooler

area over here. >> reporter: a total of four tsunamis rolled through, tearing through homes and swallowing up entire villages. dozens were killed including one person. more are missing, possibly swept out to sea by the ferocious waves. >> when i came to look at the house the water was coming so quickly. there was no warning. >> reporter: president obama has declared american samoa has a major disaster area that paves the way for funding to help recovery efforts. officials are struggling to assess the amount of damage. the power and phone lines are down anne and roads are still flooded and littered with debris. closer to home, the affects of the massive earth quake were held in hawaii, oregon and they issued tsunami advisories but fortunately only seen strong surf but there are fears there could be more to come.

>> we got a call at 3:30 this morning for a fully-involved fire. firefighters got here. it was a gas fed fire from the basement area. it burned a hole -- actually burned the entire first floor away making the firefighters pull back and then it was time, the actual fire went out to the gas fed area which also made us attack the fire from the exterior, again creating an unsafe situation. the gas ignited again. you know, this house is fully destroyed. we have not done primary and secondary search but we are getting -- making sure no one gets inside the home. >> at any point in time were neighbors put at any danger or risk, was any evacuation necessary? >> no. we had a two-alarm contingent on this fire.

that can actually predict sexual orientation based on a person's facebook friends. it is does experimental software designed to outdate -- here's how it works. it looks at the friends in your facebook profile and scans the ones that are identified as gay, straight or bisexualle is and surprise, surprise, their analysis reveals that gay men had a higher proportion of gay men friends than straight friends. not shocking but using the information the software was applied to 900 men who chose not to identify their sexual orientation in their profiles. while the students couldn't confirm the accuracy of the predictions they personally knew that ten men were gay and the program identified them as gay. that's all they are basing their findings off of.
