annandale. fire and rescue crews are conducting a search at the house where the fire went up in flames a little while ago. 50 firefighters responded toe the blaze. the home appears to have been vacant. neighbors say no one had lived in the house for at least a week. it is a gas-fed fire that originated in the basement. at point no injuries but crews pa are making sure no one is left inside. the house is a total loss. we will be out here eyeballing this development and we will continue to ask questions. >> thank you very much. that is alex trevino reporting live from annandale, virginia. we are following a developing story, at least 82 people now dead after a tsunami in the south pacific. this is video in from american so noah. it was hit by a series of 15 to 20-foot waves yesterday and you can see the damage left behind. it came after a powerful

earthquake. the independent state of samoa was also hit. police are looking for dozens of missing people. president obama declared american samoa a disaster area. the "washington post" reports police wants to know if a bowie, maryland man was killed by someone who had been at the house for a party. tyrone richardson was killed in front of his family last weekend. police think robbery may have been a motive. last night a candle light vigil in bowie. neighbors came out to honor richardson and show the neighborhood is safe. a university of maryland medical school researcher is dead. she overdosed on a heroin substitute. police say 29-year-old carrie john died on sunday after injecting herself with a drug that is used as a substitute to treat recovering heroin addicts. they say she and her boyfriend

housing market here locally isn't what it used to be but there is good news out there and the good news is that home prices have been rising in the washington area for four months in a row. the latest report is out now and it shows the median home price in july was $174,000. that's $3,000 more than the month before. still it is down $80,000 from the top price of $251,000 set back in march of 2006. this holiday season you will probably see some bargains on toys for kids. the "washington post" reports that wal-mart is expected to announce today it will offer 100 toys for $10 or less. the move is a day after kmart unveiled the first list of 15 hot toys as it prepares to air commercials promoting the holiday lay away program. how does a vaccine to stop smoking sound to you. the national institute of health thinks it sounds good.

the big story today all an the flu. the headlines read officials seek to vaccinate illegal imgrants against h1n1. here to talk about that is lauren ashburn. it bet this is controversial. >> already hundreds of comments on our website about this. the center for disease control says the swine flu, h1n1 does not discriminate whether or not you are legal or illegal and they are recommending that illegal immigrants get vaccinated. >> you say you are getting comments. what are people saying? >> a lot of people are against this, thinking public health dollars should not go to this. however, the cdc is saying this is our position. this is what we are doing. they are reaching out to hispanic media and going to church groups to make sure that hispanics know they need to get vaccinated. illegal immigrants are afraid of even wise sigh government organizations like their local

expected to unveil a bill which would cut green house gas emissions by 20% by 2010. so just over ten years. in advance of the growing climate change debate on the hill there are two high schools -- tools that have been launched to help them visualize what it will look like over the next decade or so. the newest one is a new addition to google earth. it is a 3-d mapping tool that preconvicting the affects of climate change on the planet. what makes it interesting is it lets you zoom in to your hometown and see the scenarios of how climate change could affect your backyard. >> these are based on computer models that not everyone agrees with. take that as a grain of salt. how warm we will get is debatable. >> absolutely. in this area it is a useful tool if you think that climate change is indeed real.
