are where the warnings are. but i'm a little more concerned quite frankly with this storm than it is now to the north. they will kind of move this between hillsboro and waterford. and this could have some very heavy rains with it as they push it off to the north end of the east. just to the east of hillsboro, i just tweeded about that about five minutes ago. so again, the big picture, we do have some storms exiting the north. as far as we're concerned, the heaviest activity now, we'll concentrate out here and they will watch these areas down to the south and west as they move up towards warrenton in the next half hour. we're looking at severe thunderstorm warnings for

bruce leshan is live at reagan spore national with the latest, bruce? >> reporter: yeah, we have not been able to figure out which return flight mohammed al- madadi is on. he caused plenty of outcries. is >> reporter: he was on official embassy business, heading out to a visit with convicted al qaeda sleeper agent international, al marrari. he slipped into the bathroom for an illegal smoke. and questioned by air marshals on board, al madadi joked about lighting up a shoe bomb, referring to the shoe bomber. that lead them to scramble two f-16 fiter jets which escorted flight 663 to an abrupt landing and isolation at the denver airport. that's when passengers realized that there was a problem. >> there was no steven seagull

against al madadi, but he heads home very quickly, perhaps on the 10:30 non-flight stop from dulles tonight to directly pack home. >> we'll see, all right, thanks, bruce. we continue to follow the deadly drive-by shooting in southeast dc. four people were killed in that rampage. and just today, we learned the 14-year-old suspect allegedly at the wheel has been charged with 41 counts of juvenile courts. those charges include four counts of first-degree murder while armed, attempted-murder while armed, and assault with an intent to kill. a viewing was held today for the montgomery county police officer. he died in the line of duty in wheaton, responding to a call for help and ran his cruiser off ran doll f road. his funeral is tomorrow morning at st. peters catholic church. group 108 between prince phillies drive and spartan road will be shut down between 7:30 until the morning until 12:30 in the afternoon. and you can also expect delays until 2:00 in the afternoon as

the funeral procession makes their way from only out there. now for a look at traffic issues right now. what's the late nest >> reporter: we're starting off in new virginia where the roads are still dry as far as you can see and the travel lanes are open. and right here on 66, quite a bit of the congestion from out there to 123. we're heading home on this stretcher or heading out there tonight. factoring in the extra five to ten minutes i would say. but heading to our capitol beltway in virginia, we want to point out this accident on outer loop out there, blocking two right lanes. so that there will be delays approaching. not a good time to see the crash right now. in maryland on the other hand, no accidents, but lots of volume here from 270 over to i- 95. slow going all the way on the inner loop, much better. lesli, back to you. >> all right, fairfax residence, pay attention. if row have been the victim of the robbery, you might be able to get your goods back. more information on that coming up. but first, one-on-one with the first lady and her passion

targeted the car gazers in fairfax county and robbed the players at gunpoint. six men have been arrested. but they are convinced that there are more robberies and they want the victims to come forward. here is lindsey mastis. >> reporter: these are the six men facing robbery charges. police, they say that they wore masks, barged into a home along clover dale and berk, during a late-night car date. the brandish guns, tieing up the victims and fled with cash, jewelry, and credit cards. many neighbors here along the area said that they didn't know about the home invasion. they said that crime just doesn't happen along the street very often. >> i have been in this neighborhood for about 30 years. most of us are federal employees. >> the fairfax county police say that the men committed the same crimes at another home in centerville. she believes that victims have not come forward because they are afraid of being in trouble for gambling. >> they don't want to be

associated, perhaps, with the card game. they are afraid that the people, they will come after them. >> the six men were arrested up in rockville, during the traffic stop. and he says that the men face the drug charges there. >> they contacted the fairfax county police. because they found what they felt was evidence of robberies. that may have occurred in fairfax counties. these are with the addresses, credit cards, you know, that sort of thing. >> reporter: police are trying to figure out how they knew about the card games. >> reporter: and both of these incidents happened back in march. they are convinced that there are more robberies and that there may be more suspects. they are urging victims to come forward. >> lindsey, any idea if they knew the men who robbed them? >> no, but police do believe that someone had told the suspects where the card games were taken place. and that there were some of the same victims at both of the card games that were targeted. >> all right, thank you for that.

turning to the latest on the rescue efforts at that west virginia coal mine. crews leading the operations, they hope that the air will be safe enough for the rescue teams to go back inside this evening. they made it inside earlier today. but then they had to pull out. before they could determine, what happened to those four missing miners. explosive levels of the toxic gas forced them to evacuate. >> i could imagine hauling the equipment for them. and for the long distance, getting up there, getting exactly where you need to be. they hope that they are safe inside. switching gears now, what could be a scientific breakthrough for the first time, scientists, they reveal a new species of the human area. they say that it could be possible, that a missing link in that evolution in south

shape. sunshine returns tomorrow, bright, but brisk. highs around the 60s. pretty much a good deal. not so cool if we have not been in the 90s. low 60s with sunshine and lots of sunshine on sunday. beautiful temperatures around 70. now tonight, showers and thunderstorms, they will end late. again, some could be heavy. a few could be severe, breezy, cooler. low temperatures, 48 to 56. let me show you live doppler. you can access this on our web on wusa9.com. and this is the only storm that we're seeing. mildly concerned about it. everything else is now north of the immediate viewing areas. watching these storms down to the south and the west. and some of these could produce the pretty good rain. and perhaps some strong gusty winds in the next hour around here as they cross 66. but for the most part, we need to focus in on the one storm. remember, this is not tooing long ago. they are moving pretty quickly. it's now crossing the river, up into this area. just to the west side of 270. and it's moving at a pretty

good clip. heavy rain, some strong gusty winds. don't see any hail. but some very heavy rain for adamstown and right around 85. again on the west side of 270. it's pushing off to the northeast at about 30. all right, back to the computer we go. and we'll talk about tomorrow morning. nice. returning partly cloudy, breezy, cooler. 40s and the 50s. with 10 to 15. refreshing wind. by the afternoon, partly cloudy, breezy, cooler. highs around the 60s. again, that's only five degrees above the average. that's 65. and winds are continuing northwesterly at about 10 to 15. here is our future cast. we'll put this into motion. just stop it around midnight. there will still be plenty of showers even into the mid night hours. we go through the night. the chances of the severe weather that will go down a little bit, subside a little bit. some clouds by the morning. most of the showers to the east of us by then. sot roads will be dry. you might have the wet pavement in the morning for your morning commute. but i think that we'll be in pretty good shape for no precipitation falling.

by the lunchtime, we could see the sunshine return to the entire metro area. and some showers will linger in the mountains. that's about it. the next seven days. 60 tomorrow. returning partly cloudy and breezy. then the weekend looks great. low 60s on saturday, that's great. 70s on sunday with the sunshine, and that is just spectacular. maybe a sprinkle or shower on monday. got a back door front to worry about. dropping the temperatures down to 60. and then the temperatures rebound nicely. back up to 70 on thursday. >> all right. >> tiger is back on the course. and are you surprised at how well he appears to be doing so far? >> nothing surprises me. >> and they were winning in the majors looking to sign. so after five months, tiger is back in his comfort zone. on the golf course. a full report on their opening day at the masters, including how the crowd reacted to him. and plus a matinee for the nationals as they seek their first win of 2010. it's looking good, guys. we'll give you an update.
