with the dulles toll road. now to the latest on the times square car bomb scare. the suspected bomber heads to court today. faisal shahzad faces a wide range of charges. tara energy father has the late on the ongoing investigation. >> reporter: faisal shahzad will face a number of charges when he appears in new york federal court today. among them, attempting to use a weapons of mass destruction and trying to kill americans. >> if successful, it could have resulted in a lethal terrorist attack causing death and destruction in the heart of new york city. >> reporter: the pakistani-born u.s. citizen confessed on tuesday that he rigged a nissan pathfinder with a homemade bomb and tried to blow up times square. he was moments away from a clean getaway on monday night, managing to get on a dubai- bound plane, even though he was on a no fly list. the flight was about to leave when authorities ordered it

back to the gate and hauled faisal shahzad off in front of passengers. >> went back to the airport. >> reporter: federal officials are offering very little detail about a possible motive in the case, but say faisal shahzad is cooperating and providing valuable information. investigators were busy digging for more clues on tuesday. they found bomb-making material at his bridgeport, connecticut apartment. >> we want to know as much as we can about his background, where he has gone and what he has done and those things are being explored. >> reporter: they are questioning friends in pakistan. the 30-year-old told investigator he acted alone but his involvement with a terror training camp in pakistan has some officials thinking otherwise. tara mergener , cbs news, washington. this morning university of virginia students are still coming to grips with the death of a fellow classmate. this was the scene at vigil

last night for 22-year-old yeardley love. two people told investigators they found love face down in a pool of blood monday morning. 22-year-old george huguely of chevy chase, maryland is charged with her killing. after a court hearing yesterday, the defense attorney says love's death was not intentional. >> we are confident that miss love's death was not intended but an accident with a tragic outcome. in the meantime, george is withdrawalling from the university of virginia and remains in the custody of the authorities. >> reporter: this isn't george huguely's first brush with the law. in november of 2008, police in lexington, virginia used a stun gun on him after he resisted arrest for public intoxication. he served six months probation and was given a 60-day sentence which was suspended. the financial world has its eyes on greece as the country tries to pull back from the brink of economic collapse [

chanting ] protesters stormed the acrop police yesterday. police simply let them pass. the group calling themselves communist is against the bailout plan for greece which includes tax hikes and $130 billion in loans. these are taking a toll on the world's market and jessica has that part of the story. >> this have the biggest bailout of a country since world war ii and people may be wondering why does wall street care about greece? european countries are throwing $145 billion at the problem and marks are telling us the aid package doesn't go far enough. and traders are worried if another european nation gets in trouble, say spain portugal or ireland the eu is spending so much money it won't have enough to help out and then the u.s. may be asked to help prop up countries across the pond.

that is part of the reason wall street suffered the worse loss yesterday since february. nissan plans to recall g-35 sedans and coups to fix the air bags. an electronic glitch may prevent the air bags from working in a crash. this involves 2009 to seven model years. well, four months ago, dominoes tossed the pizza recipe out the window and apparently the new taste delivers. the ceo says sales have taken a historic leap over 14% and at a time the rest of the industry suffered a 3% drop. this new recipe is a complete overhaul, new crust, sauce and cheese. i have not tried it but now i know what i'm getting for dinner tonight. >> we a little starbucks to go with it. if you think this starbucks latte is expensive check this one out. they are selling cups of coffee

out of nashville, tennessee. look at the historic flooding impacting life there. these floods have already killed at least two dozen people in three states. that was the football stadium there with floodwaters inside. the cumberland river is going down and should be below flood stage by the end of the week. nashville's mayor says it will take a while before things get back to normal. >> we are looking at a long recovery period. at the same time, i want to reassure everyone that nashville will fully recover and continue to be the great city that it is. >> reporter: op pri land hotel and grant 'ole opry are flooded. the volcano in iceland is acting up again. it sent a cloud of ash toward the continent. european leaders meet to talk about last month's chaos. charlie d'agata has the story. >> reporter: the volcano in

iceland that put a freeze on air travel is at it again. 12 days after the volcano shut down virtually all european air travel. >> a northwesterly wind pushed the plume over ireland today and that was difficult for us. and the problem is the density levels are quite high. >> reporter: passengers will face problems on wednesday. air space in scotland and northern ireland was shut down. airports in england and wales may close later in the day. >> everybody wants to be safe. so better to be safe than story. the europe aviation industry complained that governments played it too safe when they shut down air space for six days. in all, more than 100,000 flights were cancelled, inconveniencing 10 million travelers, costing airlines around $3 billion.

continue to follow developing news for you. a body found in rock creek park. kristin fisher is there live. what more can you tell us? >> reporter: police are just now wrapping up this crime scene. in fact they just took down the crime scene tape about two minutes ago. now, dc police actually discovered the body around 3:00 this morning near pierce mill and rock creek park. just over my shoulder, where you see the roadway is right there. u.s. park police and dc police are on the scene. this investigation is still ongoing. it's been going on a little over three hours now. i spoke with one dc police officer who said that at this point in time it appears this is a suicide suicide. not a homicide. we do not know who the victim is or how the victim died, but again, police are investigating this as a suicide, not a homicide here at rock creek park this morning. back to you. >> thank you. it is 6:30. we get the latest on the bomb square in times square.

the man investigators say was behind it goes before a judge later today. faisal shahzad will be arraigned on charges he tried to kill americans with a weapon of weapons of mass destruction. the pakistani native became an american citizen last year. we have learned he was on the no-fly list but somehow got on to an emirates plane heading from new york to dubai. police stopped the plane as it left the gate and arrested faisal shahzad. new york city's police commissioner will be on captiol hill today. raymond kelly was already scheduled to testify about illegal guns but will no doubt be talking about the bomb scare. commissioner kelly says they lost track of the suspect hours before the scare but he is glad the suspected bomber was quickly brought to justice. three teenagers charged in the murder of a middle school principal brian betts will appear in court later this month. prosecutors charged the teens with murder. tuesday, a judge ordered them held behind bars. prosecutors say evidence found inside of brian betts home is

stolen suv and the home of one of the suspects links them to the crime. gray of oxon hill, saunders and lancaster are all charged. lancaster's mother is also charged with knowingly receiving a credit card stolen from brian betts with the intent to use it. a dc council overwhelmingly agreed on legalizing medical marijuana. the fuss this new law is who's authorized to prescribe the drug and legal protections for users. alex trevino has details. >> marijuana mid call use in this nation's capital is closer to reality than ever before. >> we tried to create a responsibility, evidence-based closed system that preserves the right that sick individuals have access to medical marijuana and blunts the frolic and detour in other jurisdictions. 1400 dispensaries in los angeles for instance. >> reporter: the council ma'am introduced three amendments

on that children's medicine recall. >> obviously this is a major concern for parents. yesterday we talked about the recall of a lot of children's products including tylenol. the company involved is called mclean consumer health care. the food and drug administration inspectors found last month that mcneil knowingly used bacteria contaminated materials to make a batch of medicine for the children. no batches of the final product were contaminated and health risk is low but the fda will continue to review the problem. u.s. airways and delta airlines are told by regulators to make others -- make room for others at the airport. they demand they auction off landing and takeoff slots at reagan. this could create an opening at the airport for southwest. a corporate love triangle has led to an apology from a ceo. before united agreed to merge with continental it had been in

floor manager. >> have a great day. it is now been three years since a massive tornado leveled a small tight knit midwestern community and in true midwestern spirit, residents have turned a negative in to a positive. about 1,000 miles west of here, greensberg, kansas is rising up from the rubble. we see why this rebuilding process is one of a kind. >> reporter: the signs of devastation are still there, empty lots, cleared of buildings, rusted remains, trees, stripped of their leaves and life, but evidence of the f- 5 tornado that nearly leveled greensburg is getting harder to find. >> it's just amazing. it's amazing. i have a picture of what the town, of this corner looked like the day after the tornado and every now and then i have to go back and look at it to remind myself how far we have come. >> reporter: where there was rubble neighborhoods returned. a new hospital opened in march.
