whether the police department received any notice of that arrest and the answer was no. and second, i ask whether the coaches had any knowledge of it or disclosed and the answer was no also. >> washington post report says 8 of the 41 members of the men's lacrosse team faced alcohol related charges during their careers at university of virginia. >> dc police are trying to figure out what prompted a man to shoot another passenger. this one happened two hours ago on the u2 line in southeast and a 17-year-old was shot in the wrist and in the side. we'll have more on this developing story tonight at 11:00. and new information is surfacing in the investigation of faisal shahzad. the man accused of trying to bomb times square. shahzad passed a criminal background check and legally bought a gun two months ago in connecticut. this as new york's mayor, michael bloomberg had a hearing.

>> it was not the only attempted terrorist attack on our city since 9/11. far from it and sadly we don't think it will be the last. >> shahzad's court hearing for today was canceled, as he is still talking with authorities. three people are dead in athens, greece, after angry residents took to the streets in protest. those people died after the bank they were in was set on fire by those protesters. the rioters are upset with the cutbacks the government is taking to save the country from financial ruin. now all that stands in the way of the district having their own medical marijuana law is the congress and the white house. today, bruce johnson talks to some of the people who say they will be among the first to line up to light up legally. >> those who smoke it for pleasure -- >> i think it's a good law, because everybody smokes. >> and those who smoke it for pain were giving the bill a thumb's up today. > i get migraine headaches and it takes them away. you don't have to worry about getting nauseous.

>> the dc measure would not make marijuana legal as this man would advocate. >> i have a lot of people, friends, and family that smoke weed. >> the bill is signed by the mayor and approved by capitol hill and the white house would bring long sought relief for pain suffers. if they can get a recommendation from their physicians. >> some of the medications we use, for cancers and related hiv and cancers in general and the treatments causing enormous nausea, so people stop taking treatments. people will live longer. >> unlike in some states, dc residents won't be able to grow their own marijuana. the law calls for one supplier to be selected and five to eight distributors to be scattered throughout the district. >> 14 states already have medical marijuana laws. the district is now trying to avoid the type of disarray seen in california. today in la, prosecutors began notifying more than 400

unlicensed pot dispensaries to shut down. bruce johnson, 9news now. >> now dc doctors will not be able to write prescriptions for medical marijuana because of the drug status as an illegal substance. your doctor can only give you a written recommendation. maryland and virginia have not approved medical marijuana bills. we asked you last night for your thoughts on the medical marijuana issue. here's what some of you wrote in. this is the a first glimpse inside one of the district's streetcars. the line is supposed to get started running in 2012 and the construction is going on right now along bening road. the project will include eight lines and 37 miles of track. >> as the construction on 8th street and martin luther king avenue and neighborhood corridors has gone forward, we have begun to lay down the lines which will once again hold streetcars. >> people can expect to ride the streetcars for about the same price as bus fare and if

firefighters are desperately trying to put out the flames at a refinery in san antonio, texas. an 18 wheeler exploded while being loaded with fuel and that sets off a chain reaction at that facility. crews are using foam to extinguish the fire as water does not put out a petroleum fire. residents within a one mile radius were forced to evacuate. satellite imaging shows oil in the gulf is now reaching the mississippi delta and the

chandelier islands. this has capped one of the three under water leaks. now the company doesn't expect this will reduce the amount of oil spewing out, but it will allow bp to drop a single containment box over the breech. >> it will seal over the leak and then we'll engineer piping that goes up to a barge and will be able to funnel that oil that is escaping now. >> right now, the 100 ton dome is on a barge headed for the site of the leak. bp says it will be in place tomorrow and operational by the weekend, they say. investigators are hoping they will be able to get into that deadly west virginia mine in the next few days. 29 miners died in an explosion april 5 at the upper big branch facility. but so far, gas levels have been too high in that mine for the investigators to get in there and figure out what happened. >> the last minute push is on before they head to the polls in england, still, see the weird way some people are tracking the race for prime minister. and how long can this beautiful

drunk to content? could this be a case of regret after the fact? i mean, she did agree to be on the real world, right? share your thoughts with mcginty's mail bag. montgomery county is doing everything possible to keep costco interested in opening a store in wheaten. as alex reports, if the county doesn't act fast, they could lose the opportunity. >> costco has its eye on wheaten. >> this is a vacancy that has been in place for four years. >> the largest membership warehouse club chain in the country is committed to come to west field shopping town on the condition a gas station is fast tracked through the county. >> this is our best opportunity. >> montgomery county economic development director, steven sillerman tells us costco was considered an economic project promising to score hundreds of jobs in wheaten. that's why the county wants to speed up the process of bringing the store and the gas station and provide the same

doctor think it is medically necessary. some folks are having too much fun with the idea of legal pot. i believe that if there was a legitimate medical use, it would be prescribed in a legal, nonrecreational form that would provide the relief needed without violating any existing laws. the opiums are a prime example. it's time for the dc council to grow up, quit wasting time on juvenile matters and do the job for which they were elected. a vote in congress starts with maturity at home. actually, it's a constitutional right not based on maturity. in any case, finally yesterday we asked you to vote in our online poll whether the philadelphia cops were right to break out the taser on that young fan who leaped on to the field and ran around at a professional ball game. most of you said the young boy deserved what he got, but not bill from arlington. the field invading fans get away? you know, i'm thinking it wasn't about the fans ability
