now. fairfax county, two people are dead after an accident at route 29 and forum drive. surae chinn has just arrived on the scene. she has the latest for us there. sur ray, tell us more. major tragedy in the middle of rush hour. police are dealing with a double fatality. here's what we know. one person on a bike has died and one person, the driver of an suv. the driver of the suv was driving on lee highway coming northbound, crossed all lanes of traffic, went up the bike path. in fact the suv is still on that bike path. two people on a bike were on the path. one teenager, avoided that car. the other person we're hearing a 17-year-old boy died instantly. we have a witness here. who actually saw what happened. tell us what you saw when you came up to this accident. >> when i came up to it, my friend told me because the car

came from that direction and -- [ inaudible ] >> did you see the driver and do you know what he was doing at that time? >> no, i not see that. >> reporter: do you know what happened that maybe medical issue. >> maybe a heart attack or something, yes. >> reporter: okay. we will continue to talk to police here on the scene. i know sky 9 is above the scene. we have one northbound lane of 29 open at this hour. the rest of the lanes are shut down. you are planning to come out here, you want to avoid this area. looks like they will be here for quite sometime. reconstruction unit is here on the scene trying to piece together everything, but again we will try to update you on everything as soon as possible. >> thank you for that. family and friends packed a local church to say good-bye to alonte sutton. he was the dc council intern murdered two weeks ago.

as alex trevino reports the emotional service called for an end to needless violence ♪ [ music ] ♪ >> grand turnout. i didn't realize he had so many people that loved him. >> reporter: family members, childhood friend and dc leaders are mourning the death of alonte sutton. a well-admired young man who many say had a bright future ahead of him. >> too bad because so tragic because alonte sutton was doing everything right and violence still touched him and that's part of the problem with violence we are dealing with in our city. >> reporter: he was found dead two weeks ago. police say he was killed after he refused to give a girl a ride. it's the kind of violence alonte sutton's friends say has to end. >> frustrated because of all of the unnecessary deaths that happen in the district of columbia. the message was clear that we must stop the violence in our community and we must do everything we can to save our children. the hearts of many were touched

by a aris who were privileged to sing alongside stevie wonder ♪ [ music ] >> she said in his own words he was so hurt by the tragedy of this young man's life. that he felt compelled to come out and to speak to this community. it really touched all of us to even think of our communities in the same way. we have to do better. >> ♪ love in me >> reporter: in southeast washington, alex trevino, 9 news now. 28-year-old omare cotton faces first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of alonte sutton. prosecutors are using medical evidence and 911 calls to layout a time line of victim robert wone's last minutes alive. they believe the suspect may have left his body for up to 49 minutes alone while they cleaned up the crime scene. the first paramedic to arrive

testified about seeing very little blood there, even though wone was stabbed three times in the chest. five minutes to his 911 call, the suspect asks the dispatcher for the time. she tells him 11:54 and asks repeatedly how the stabbing occurred. >> reporter: it was a rough day in court for wone's widow kathy who had to hear the deputy medical examiner say she believes that wone was alive for several minutes and then unconscious several more after being stabbed. it may be another week before defense lawyers get to present evidence in their case. right now prince william county police are asking for your help to find a man wanted for medicaid fraud. they say this is the man here. godwin ikwakam. they say he used his company to

overbill medicaid in 2009 and 2010. we brought you the story for the first time last week. and this gentleman's company called first call home health had stopped paying its employees and even closed its doors after the virginia attorney general started an investigation in to the company. police say if you have any information on this case, give prince william county crime solvers a call. police now know the identity of a body found at the manassas recycling center. it is 60-year-old james edward us isen. a homeless man who frequented the area in newport news where the container he was near got picked up. his cause of death is still unknown. frustration continues for gulf coast residents who want more government control over the gulf coast oil spill. they point to the law that makes oil companies responsible for dealing with the major accidents that the obama administration says there were no powers of intervention available that have not been used. dave statter is in the newsroom

with the latest on this. dave? >> white house press secretary robert gibbs said the white house is pushing bp to do everything they can and believes there's nothing they can think of that should be done that isn't being done. those live pictures from underwater showing the gushing oil help to fuel the outrage. bp says more oil is flowing than previously disclosed they say they understand the criticism and allegations. and the spokesman says they are addressing the media each day with briefings in an effort to be transparent. >> this team has been working cooperatively and openly from the start. >> we know the job is not done when tay cap the leak or get the oil off the surface. much more needs to be done. we need to make sure bp is committed long term and their federal agencies are committed for the long term to make sure we restore the wetlands and marshes. >> reporter: the thick sticky oil is now deeper in to the delicate marshes of grand isle. the beaches are closed there.

large globs of oil have begun to coat the grasses. he is critical of bp and the coast guard for moving slowly. he wants them to move faster and the government is trying to get the army corps of engineers to get sand from the bottom of the ocean to bring it up to firm up the berms to make a greater barrier for the oil that is coming ashore. coast guard commandant says that bp has largely done what they have been asked to including the directive from the epa to find a less toxic chemical to break up the oil. tonight new details on the united flight diverted to dulles. an ntsb report pinpoints the cause of the fire and it is something the airlines already knew about. we are live at nationals park getting ready for the first installment this year of the battle of the beltways between the nats and the o's but does this rivalry merit our attention? we will talk to the players

last week it is a snowball affect. >> reporter: it couldn't come at a worst time. >> this is prom season so we are very busy. we can't get the flowers we can't get them to customers for prom season. >> reporter: amanda is not alone. florists are feeling the affect of the volcanic eruption. >> it is global. it is not just in maryland. >> reporter: the bomb line is that if you need to pick out a corsage or butte near for prom, this year, thanks to a volcano in iceland you can't be picky. thank you. >> you are welcome. >> in burtonsville, kristin fisher, 9 news now. >> amanda has no idea when her flower deliveries will return to normal. new information on the united airlines flight that made an emergency landing on sunday night. the ntsb says a known problem with the boeing 757 started the fire in the cockpit. the safety agency warned airlines in 2007 that issues with the windshield heater had

caused past fires the pilots had to use two fire extinguishers to put out the fire this the cockpit. no one was injured by that fire. another worker from massey energy has died on the job in a coal mine. officials say 55-year-old james irwin was killed after being pinned by a piece of equipment. the accident happened at massey's ruby energy mine in west virginia. massey is of course under investigation for that explosion that killed 29 men in its upper branch mine back on april 5th. well, this is bike to work day and what better day for arlington county officials to make a big announcement on using pedal power to get around. they say that arlington is teaming up with the district to create the nation's largest bike sharing system. they are still working out the details but it is set to launch in the fall with more than 1,000 bikes. you will be able to sign up on- line with a credit card to get a year-long membership or use a bike for an hour or a day.

as they continue to investigate moss and his alleged involvement in that hgh scandal that broke on wednesday. the redskins receiver stands accused of receiving the illegal performance-enhancing drug from that canadian doctor. if that turns our to be true, and moss gets suspended, could that reopen the door for terrell owens to join the redskins? nfl investigators find that moss did use the drug he and his 70 catches are almost certain to be suspended for four games this season which makes t.o., who's still a free agent a logical fit to fill that void. team mcnabb has reportedly mended their fences and while bruce allen said a few weeks ago he is not pursuing owens perhaps the moss developments changed his mind. as for mcnabb, he said the first week of ot a's were productive ones. he continues to adjust to his new team and surroundings and for those that expect him to have growing pains after 11 years in another system, what
