this is 9news now. good evening, everyone. i'm surae chinn. bruce johnson is off tonight. one victim is laid to rest just 24 hours after a driver came barreling down a bike path killing the high school student. the 31-year-old driver also died. we are learning more tonight about the two victims killed along the highway and forum drive in fairfax county. lindsey mastis has more on this tragedy that left two people dead. >> reporter: he was just about to graduate high school. the 18-year-old wrestling star was riding his bike with a close friend possibly waiting to cross the road. >> hard to imagine him not being here. >> reporter: anthony thorne would have turned 32 today. he was driving a dodge durango. somehow his suv crossed six lanes hitting chad lee and then hit a tree. today the families of these

young men are grieving. >> it is a big loss. a big hit. but thank god. >> reporter: chad lee's family laid him to rest today. his father says it must have been his time but he would have liked to see his son become a vet. >> he liked animals. he wanted to be a vet. i said okay, go for it. >> reporter: the 18-year-old wrestler's coach says everyone miss him. >> if you had a bad day, you wanted to smile you go talk to abdul because he could put a smile on your face. >> reporter: thorne stepfather says their family is overwhelmed. he leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter. >> she is playing softball this year. he got to see her play and practice. >> reporter: the factors that

caused the crash are still trying to be determined. in woodbridge, i'm lindsey mastis, 9news now. >> police tell us they are hoping to have more answers next week after an autopsy is completed. thorne stepfather said he had no known medical condition. more on the growing oil spill in the gulf of mexico. scientists say much of the oil washing into the marshes along the gulf coast might be impossible to remove. officials are considering drastic measures including set the wetlands on fire or flooding areas in hopes of floating out the oil. meantime president obama has named a democrat and republican to head the presidential commission investigating the disaster. >> the purpose of this commission is to consider both the root causes of the disaster and our options on what environmental precautions we need to take to prevent a similar disaster from happening again. >> b.p. will continue to use a chemical

dispersement despite warnings from the epa to use a less toxic agent. b.p. says the agent they are using is the best option to break up the oil from thousands of feet below the sea. cameras in bowie were installed last month near northview elementary school and until now drivers caught speeding with issued warnings but now drivers will get a $40 ticket if caught speeding. drivers can expect more speed cameras in school zones in the near future officials say. heading south on interstate 95 on telegraph road. workers finished put new concrete on a span on cameron run. transportation officials had expected the project to last through the weekend but we are now told the work is done and there are no traffic backups. another area closed for

construction work. metro says passengers on the red, orange and green lines should expect delays up to 30 minutes while workers complete track work. a west virginia man sets off a pipe bomb in a nightclub parking lot killing himself in the process. it happened at the cactus joe's nightclub near huntington. witnesses say the man had recently been banned from the club for harassing his estranged wife who works as a waitress there. >> we believe he came back. got to the point we had to bar him. he would sit across the parking lot and stalk the bar. >> i didn't know what happened. i thought maybe somebody's car backfired or something. i don't know. it was just a noise, a big noise. >> the man who died at the scene has not been released. three other bombs were find by the nightclub this morning and

deactivated them. a my motorcade going past landmarks. the sites where area youth were killed by gunfire. one of the organizers of today's event lost her son in a driveby shooting nearly two months ago. >> need to put the weapons down, pick up books. learn to be able to converse. you can agree to disagree. just trying to stop the violence in washington, dc, and across the united states. >> the group also wants to call ayour attention to an amendment by senator john mccain known as the 2nd amendment enforcement act. the legislation would secure gun rights for law abiding dc residents but organizers of today's event says it would put more guns on dc streets. the message from protestors in montgomery county today was

women in a uniform can't bear the responsibility by themselves. the rest of us must do our part. three mothers with kids jailed in iran returned home from iran today. they thanked the iranian government for letting them see their children but terrell brown reports the moms say they were very disappointed their kids stayed in prison. >> reporter: the mothers of three jailed hikers in iran shared a hug after returning to new york saturday. they spent about 10 hours over two days visiting their children. >> we are satisfied that our children are being well treated. and we are extremely relieved to see for ourselves that they are in reasonable health after their long period of confinement. >> reporter: the women say they are exhausted and overwhelmed after returning to the u.s. without their children by their side. >> the pain we felt at having to leave tehran without other children is almost more than we can bear. our greatest hope was to bring

forecast. this looks wet. i'll explain to you why and how it will not rain where you are all day. but it will hold temperatures down to 74. lots of cloud cover. rain chances really go down monday. they are essentially gone tuesday but a slight chance of an isolated shower in there i will put in there. doppler 9000. heaviest storms right now. pretty much steady rain up towards frederick and haggerstown. you have to go up into the blue ridge to really get the thunderstorms. then as you get out of the blue ridge, you see parts of western fairfax county is steady rain. lightning bolt within that storm but mostly the thunderstorms you go up towards the blue ridge like boston. culpeper in between storms right now. seeing some rain right now. that will be moving up i-95 way. here in washington we are looking at the rain. that's what this is.

eventually moving to fairfax. that's just rain. i think the thunderstorms holding off well tonight. let's go to our forecast overnight tonight. mainly just scattered showers and mild. might see a thunderstorm up in the blue ridge. i think when the storms start to build away we will get storms just turning to rain. i had to go back. i get ahead of myself. let's go into that forecast. scattered showers. mild. back into overnight tomorrow morning. scattered showers. get rid of it all. midday to afternoon. this is where i think a thunderstorm could move back into the forecast. not going too much farther either way up or down for temperatures. mid-70s, only mid-60s. this little upper level storm. what is creating all this rain through the next few days. all the way to tuesday. but as that storm system rolls overhead very slowly sets up over the atlantic. that's why we have got the rain

showers in the forecast for at least a couple days. so real high resolution forecast first tonight. storms west trying to move in. this is 5a.m. early sunday morning. i think it is just that scattered showers. maybe a thunderstorm by the time we get to noon. that's where we are right now. once we go afternoon hours see how the storm is moving east to west there showing that weak storm moving overhead. sunday. monday, tuesday. letter resolution forecast. looks like right here you've got a lot of rain. light shades of green showing up. sprinkles coming in. chances going down. isolated sprinkles and showers on tuesday. even tuesday essentially the storm is over. low temperatures here tonight. mid-60s. very mild. very humid night. we are not going to see much farther even upwards into the temperature range tomorrow. mid-70s at best. if we get a little bit of
