assaults, thefts or other crimes over the first six months of this year. and nearly double the 575 crimes in 2006. theft of electronic devices acted for most of the crimes. robbery and larceny is up during the first six months of last year. metro transit police said that devices like smart phones and mp3 players have grown more extensive and more riders are carrying them now. they have launched a public awareness campaign to keep their property secure. more uniformed officers are being posted around station and more plain clothed officers riding plains. metro traditionally has more crime in the second half of the
