be stomping for a number of democrats running for election in more but of course the big focus is going to be on maryland governor martin o'malley. now, let's take a look at the latest polls in the race for maryland governor. right now there's a new poll out out from rasmussen and it shows that o'malley is leading ehrlich 49% to 41%. that's eight points. last month, o'malley was only ahead by three points. now in the past week we have seen a number of big-name politicians try to sway this race by saying which candidate they will be supporting. last tuesday, president obama released a radio ad backing o'malley. that same day mitt romney endorse lick. the next day o'malley announced that new york city mayor michael bloomberg would be stumping for minimum in bethesda quickly followed by the news that former new york city mayor rudy giuliani would be endorsing ehrlich. then, just yesterday, we got

the announce that former president clinton would be headlining a private fund- raiser for o'malley and yesterday as well we got the news that new jersey governor chris christy announced his endorsement for ehrlich. it is a game of one upmanship. and you can expect that the number of those big name endorse endorses coming in the next few weeks will only rise as we get closer and closer to the november election. >> speaking of ehrlich, do you know what he plans to do today while o'malley is in bowie? >> yeah, well, angie, ehrlich is actually going to be in montgomery county. montgomery county is very much a republican stronghold in maryland here in prince georges county democratic strong hold. that's why you will oobama and o'malley here at bowie state university and ehrlich will be stumping in montgomery county. >> all right. kristin fisher, thanks for the

update. maryland race is heating up. we don't expect a ruling until next year in the case involving the funerals at our fallen troops. the case involves a father of a fallen marine. his son's funeral in maryland was picketed by the west borough baptist church. the church says the deaths of u.s. troops are divine retribution for tolerance of homosexuality. the soldier's father says the protest violates his right to privacy. >> there's no line that can be drawn here without shutting down a lot of speech. >> there is a civilized way to express an opinion in america but it does not involve internally inflicting emotional distress on others. >> reporter: a court originally awarded snyder $12 million in the initial ruling. a 37-year-old woman is dead after a stabbing at a vietnamese restaurant. police were called to the five t bar and april grill in the 7,000 block of spring garden

for a while drive last night. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. a 40-year-old man was found dead at the restaurant with self inflicted wounds. police say the attacker and the victim were acquainted. we expect to learn more about a homicide victim in hyattsville. she was gunned down yesterday on markam lane. neighbors say the victim is a mother 0 who lived in the condominiums with her daughter. they say crime in the area is rare and the woman's daughter is being cared for. it is time for a commuter alert. a big heads up for metro riders. starting tomorrow the blue and orange lines will be cut in two. around 10:00 p.m., the farragut west and mcpherson square stations will be closed and no blue or orange line service at metro center. metro will provide shuttle service. the closure will last until tuesday morning. jessica foil is here to help us -- jessica doyle is here to help us save green and

incident in northwest dc. let's get right to it. it is a hit and run investigation. police are still on the scene of this accident. a woman is in critical condition. and roads are shut down. this is connecticut avenue southbound between dupont circle and k street. not causing major traffic headaches right now but something to watch out for sure. move to the cameras in virginia right now and see how things are looking on i-95. good morning. if you are making your way up north it will be slow prince william parkway to 123 and newington to backlick. moving to the next camera. this is 395 as you pass the mixing bowl. you will run in to a bit of traffic between duke and seminary and approaching the 14th street bridge. finally we will end up on the outer loop in montgomery county. right now from i-95 to georgia. bumper-to-bumper traffic already. and not even 6:30 in the morning. we will keep our eyes on the roadway for you.

right now, back to angie. portion county police are investigating what aa -- prince georges county police are investigating what appears the discovery of a couple of pipe 0 bombs. a realtor found it in a house in district heights. the realtor charles ray was surprised by his discovery. >> when i went downstairs, i was looking in the boiler room and i noticed that the ducts weren't in place. and as i looked around at the vents that the vents weren't attached to there was a bag hanging from the vents. >> the bag contained explosives. samples have been sen off for analysis. the mosquito has been squashed. mosquito is the name for a device that emits a high-tech sound that mostly younger people can detect. it was installed outside of the chinatown entrance to discourage loitering. the company behind the mosquito removed it voluntarily after a complaint to the dc office of

good morning, everybody. clinton portis is due to make $8.3 million next season, but that money is not guaranteed, which means if the redskins somehow release portis they don't have to pay him. combine that fact with portis turning 30 next year and the news that unfolded on wednesday, you have to wonder if portis ' redskins days are over. the skins announce he will miss the next four to six weeks with a separated groin. speck lake is that he could go on injured reserve, thus ending his season. ryan terrain will start in his place on sunday, but will that be a prime minister move?

through the traffic and same story in the district. new york avenue inbound times building to the third street tunnel. volume, no accidents. back to you. breaking news, a woman is in critical condition after a hit and run. it happened earlier this morning on connecticut avenue in northwest. that's south of dupont circle. dc police say the driver took off. montgomery county police believe they have found the vehicle involved in chevy chase, but the driver is still at large. prosecutors in prince georges county fear they may have to let some suspects out of jail because of a suspected cheating scandal at the county's police academy. the cadet records for 146 officers are being scrutinized. there are questions that a large number of test results are simply too good to be true. that may affect the prosecution now the integrity of the department is in question.

>> any case that any of these officers were involved in will get the audit from the police department later today. so we will have a sense of how many officers are potentially involved. >> reporter: wednesday, prince georges county police cancelled an afternoon press conference to discuss the investigation. a spokesman told us an official statement would be released last night. so far, we have not received it. prosecutors are trying to keep polygraph results out of the trial for the man suspected of killing chandra levy. he is scheduled to go on trial october 18th. polygraph results showed he was not being deceptive when he said he was not involved in the disappearance. prosecutors believe he had practiced his answers and the polygraph results were flawed. in 3 1/2 weeks, marylanders will vote for governor and big national names are coming out to support the two major candidates, including president obama. kristin fisher is at the university with a preview of

roll out 4 g service in the washington area and 37 other cities by the end of the year. the next generation of wireless network promises to increase speed to smart phones among other features and they say 4 g ready tablet computers and smart phones will be able in the first half of next year. google tv is one step closer to your tv room. a device can bring the service to your tv. logictech has launched a set top box. it streams entertainment content like movies and tv shows off the internet and reduce or eliminate the need for a cable subscription. it costs $300 and you can compare to to $100 for apple tv which i set up in my house this weekend. and it is phenomenal. the difference between google tv and apple tv one of the main features is you can record on google tv. apple hasn't gotten if to that. >> very interesting. google is on so many networks.
