customers. on a beautiful, sunny day, dr. wash is a busy place to be but hardly business as usual after the owner, 61-year-old, was killed and found in his home yesterday afternoon in fairfax station. his 2002 gold lexus is missing. the home just off of fairfax county parkway is surrounded by yellow tape and guarded by police. late this afternoon, police say an autopsy revealed he died of trauma to his upper body. johnathon larson and other neighbors are in disbelief. >> it is very shocking because this is a very quiet neighborhood. nothing like this ever happens around here. very nice. neighbors we have seen them walking their dog all the time. >> reporter: his family off camera describes a generous man who gave to everyone around him. he financially helped his many nieces and nephews through college. neighbors say he wanted to retire. he left most of the car wash

their serve sentences. governor mcdonald, attorney general and the customs enforcement agency announced the arrest today. several crimes were against children or teenagers. the arrests are part of operation soar or sexual oftener alien removal. another 365 inmates will be deported once their sentences are served. the mother of a 24-year-old woman killed by a hit and run driver in the district this week speaks out, calling the person who took her daughter's life a coward. kiela ryan was celebrating her birthday the night she was killed at dupont circle. right knew we are waiting if the suspect to emerge from dc superior court. scoot barometer is there live. >> the suspect is an albanian national living this chevy chase chase. she pled not guilty to a charge of voluntary manslaughter. she was ordered released on her own recognizance with some conditions. she's got to surrender her

albanian passport so she can't travel outside of the country. she cannot drive and she will be under intensive supervision here in washington. she is still in lockup while her family scrambles to get the passport. we understand they have produced it and she is expected to be released shortly. she is married to a student at the university of maryland. they are living together at chevy chase. she's accused in the hit and run death of ryan. here's how ryan's mother reacted to all that is going on. >> for the young man who jumped on a bicycle and tracked this lady down after she did this horrendous thing and just ran like a coward and left my baby laying on the side of the road. i feel bad for this lady. i know she didn't do it on purpose but she had no business driving a car in her condition. my child did everything. she had a designated driver and now she's gone.

24 years old. just a baby. hadn't even started her life. >> reporter: is a shattered family there. ryan was a 2008 graduate of george mason university. she had aspirations to become a lawyer. according to the court records we looked at today, her body was thrown 21 feet after she was hit outside of a bar restaurant on connecticut avenue just outside of dupont circle. live at dc superior court, scott broom, 9 news now. >> what has the suspect told investigators? what does she say happened. >> reporter: you may remember a bicyclist got the license plate number. police in maryland tracked her to her apartment building in chevy chase. she told them she remembered driving in though garage of her apartment building but did not remember being involved in any accident and she has pled not guilty and is facing a du vicious charge in maryland where she was found in a car with the keys in her hand. >> reporter: scott broom, thank you. right now a 16-month-old girl is recovering after she was hit by an suv.

this happened along georgia avenue. at 5:00 we introduced you to the officer who may have saved the girl's life in aspen hill. tonight at 6:00, the danger zone, people who live and work in this area say it was a matter of time before something like this happened. police say the child's mom was pushing her in the stroller in a cross bach but the sufficient had a green -- in the suv had a green light. the crossing isn't long enough and sometimes people cross when they aren't supposed to and cars are going too fast. >> it is so dangerous. sometimes drivers are aggressive and they didn't stop. and i used to see that lady crossing with the baby, and today i came late. so i didn't see what happened. >> reporter: that little girl has a serious head injury but is expected to survive. new at 6:00, some relief for homeowners on the verge of

foreclosure. bank of america corporation, the nation's largest bank says it's going to stop sales of foreclosured homes in all 50 states. officials didn't announce an exact time frame but say they are doing it to review foreclosure documents for flaws. there's a growing concern they have been evicting homeowners using flawed court papers and pnc financial services group says it is halting foreclosures and evictions in 23 states so it too can review documents. we have good and bad economic news. first let's talk about the good. the dow jones industrial average closed above 11000 for the first time in five months. now to the bad. the lay door department's -- the labor department's jobs report is showing 15 million americans are out of work and last month state and local governments shed 83,000 jobs the worst decline since ' 82. the president a familiar spoke at a family owned business in bladensburg today and he said it is time to get creative.

>> good morning. we need to continue to explore ways to help states and local governments maintain workers who provide vital services. as i said before, the only piece of economic news that folks still looking for work want to hear is you are hired. >> reporter: while the unemployment rate remains flat, there's a small bright spot. the private sector added 64,000 workers in september and that marks the ninth straight month the private sector has been adding jobs. on the we are hearing from a group that is fighting against a proposed slots casino right near anne arundel mills mall in maryland. the group no slots a the mall says i could cause parking headaches for shoppers. >> they claim that they are adding a 6500 parking space structure to the malcolm lex. what they don't tell you is they are removing 4100 parking spaces in order to build the casino that will run the length

>> 1,000 exoftenners go through the program every year. police is a man shot up his neighbor's house. it happened as kids were heading to the bus stop. police say the gunman shot several shots in to the house. the victim was in his kip and was hit in the this ankle. neighbors size his wife was sleeping upstairs and one hurt. they say the gunman has a daughter who's about 1 a. she may have locked the door because her father could not get back in the house and the police caught up with him outside. >> it is surreal because you feel bad because there is obviously something wrong with him but, you know, i can't imagine what would go through a young child's head seeing your father being arrested and especially with the type of crime that happened. >> reporter: police have yet to charge the suspect, though that maybe pending. news from the white house now, national survivor adviser james jones is resigning and

will be succeeded by his deputy. it impacts the whole white house. he was a top candidate to replace rahm emmanuel as the permanent chief of staff. the job appears more likely to go to pete rouse, the chief of staff and long time adviser to president obama. maryland she first state to make absentee ballots available on-line. the ballots are available today on the maryland election center website. we have a link on wusa9.com under maryland news. this was made possible because of a partnership between the university of maryland center for american politics and citizenship and the maryland state board of elections. now, the system assigns a security number and creates a personalized mailing label with a bar code to make sure only one ballot is counted per american. october 111thth -- 11th we will air our debate.

i usually don't show this a lot but i want to tell you what is going on here in washington. east of the rocky mountains hardly anything going on. the rockies got the first snow of the year, do you believe it? all of you skiers are saying let the snow begin in the mountains. gaitherburg 72. fredericksburg 75. go the 9 future cast and zoom become out because there's nothing to show in to saturday afternoon. might see one or two clouds coming about but that's it. top it here as we go in to sunday. nothing going on there either. mostly sunny skies. it's going to take until overnight on monday and in to tuesday. a weak system will try to move through. it is staying north and showers will be north of there. for us a few clouds. not as chilly as it has been. you see the coolest spots upper 40s to around 50. from the beltway to downtown and i think we are 55. look at all these 80-degree temperatures showing up

well, here we go, folks. if recent history is any indication, the washington caps are about to take us on a high- scoring ride for the next 80 regular season games. remember last season? they wracked up 20 more points than everyone else before bounced in the playoffs by montreal. that left a nasty taste in their mouths. tonight they start fresh again in atlanta. on paper, this is a mismatch. the caps were 50 points better than the thrashers but coach boudreau is already in mid season form with the motivation talk. >> any team that didn't make the playoffs the year before is always a tough team to play

against early because they are so full of energy. they want to turn things around. so they are going to be a tough opponent. >> reporter: home opener is tomorrow night. meanwhile, wizards looking to go 3-0 in the postseason this chicago tonight. washington coming off of a 64- point second half effort against the cavs. they won that game. john wall rookie sensation averaging 17-point t assists in those two games. the redskins received horrible news last night. the half brother of albert haynesworth was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car. witnesses told police lance mccoy the youngest son of linda hanes wore was riding his bike at a high rate of speed when it collided with a car coming out of a parking lot. mccoy was rushed to the hospital where he later died. the driver said he didn't see the motorcycle until impact and there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs a the scene. albert haynesworth flew home
