against mr. speeler and four employees maybe changed from homicide to something else. what else? police are not yet saying. a press conference was scheduled for 3:45 this afternoon and abruptly danceled as police tried to digest the new information. changes could change at any moment. we will be here and let you know as soon as that determination comes down. >> thank you. police are investigating the murder of a teenager in franconia, virginia. they say 18-year-old man got in to a fight with someone last night outside of a 7-eleven in the rose hill neighborhood. the teen died after a short time going to the hospital. an autopsy is being done. anyone with information about the case should call fairfax county police. sky 9 was over the scene of a pedestrian accident in prince william county this morning. a 38-year-old man was hit and killed in the 17300 block of dumfries road. the driver of the car that struck him stayed on the scene. a white box truck was also

involved in the accident. it left the scene, but police say it's unlikely the driver was aware of what really happened. a crash along a busy intersection has left one person with serious injuries. it happened this afternoon at rockville pike and marnelli road. the car rolled on to its side two people were inside the car at the time. we don't know their conditions just yet and we don't know the cause of the crash either. some people in manassas are outraged over a new sex shop opening the heart of the historic district. kristin fisher sat down with both sides of the controversy one day before the grand opening. >> i'm christina and i'm the daughter. >> i'm kimberly and i'm the mom. >> we are the owners. >> this mother daughter duo is one day away from opening the store of their dreams. where anything is possible and no one under 18 is allowed. >> it's a legal business. there's a lot of enfie tell did in marriages today and if there

minnieland says the a day care sin stalling cameras to monitor staff as they interact with children but as 9 news knew uncovered there are charge against another worker in a different northern virginia county. more on that at 6:00. the dc public school met with parents of some middle schoolers about a subject that caused a storm of controversy. what some students call a sex survey given to them without asking parents. they say the survey given to students addresses pregnancy and hiv prevention, and was given to determine the students ' baseline knowledge on these touchy subjects. but critics say the survey was inappropriate. two teenagers are charged as adults in connection with a beating earlier this month at an anne arundel county school. 17-year-old jacob dick and vernon johnson are accused of attacking a 15-year-old boy in the hallway in south river high

on october 6th. the victim suffered serious head injuries they face 25 years in prison if convicted. with less than three weeks to go before the november 2nd midterm elections, republicans and democrats are stepping up are up their campaigns. >> all 435 seats in the house of representatives are up for a vote and so are 37 of the 100 seats in the senate. most polls show that republicans are set to make big gains and possibly take control of the congress. and with so much at stake, both parties are campaigning hard [ applause ] >> reporter: the president and vice president are doing what they can to make sure joe biden's old senate seat stays in the hands of democrats. the two visited delaware to raise money for chris cube. >> he is the kind of leader you want representing you in the united states senate. >> when chris kuhn goes though united states senate you will never, ever ever have to wonder why you voted for him. >> reporter: he has a comfortable lead in the polls

over christine o'donnell, but with control of congress at stake, democrats aren't taking any chances. >> this is a tough political environment right now. >> reporter: the president and vice president are spending a lot of time on the campaign trail, trying to help democrats at a number of tight races. with less than three weeks to go before the elections, most polls show republicans will likely pick up a large number of seats in both the house and the senate. part of the reason for that is the enthusiasm of the tea party and its supporters. dozens of candidates, backed by the group, are in close races, including nevada where the most powerful democrat in congress is fighting to keep his job. senate majority leader harry reid is neck and neck with tea party favorite sharon angle and the mud is flying. >> introducing sharon angle's crazy -- >> harry reid, the best friend an illegal alien ever had. >> reporter: a conservative newspaper in nevada is

endorsing reid. he hopes it will keep him from being the first majority leader to lose his own seat in 50 years. cbs news. this weekend president obama will travel to massachusetts and ohio. for the second year in a row there will be no raise for 58 million retirees and other americans getting social security. today the social security administration said inflation has been too low to warrant an increase. this is the second time since ' 75 there's been no cost of living adjustment. to make up for it this house will vote on a bill to provide $250 one-time payments to social security recipients, but that faces opposition in the senate. right now the average social security benefit stands at $1,072 a month. meanwhile, the greater washington area ranks sixth when it comes to creating and sustaining jobs. of the best performing cities, go with me here because there are a lot of them, texas took five new wave oven the top ten

spots. among the 200 largest urban areas the killeen, temple ft. hood area, austin round rock second. huntsville, alabama finished third behind the mcallen edensburg, mission, texas area in fourth and the kennelwick area of washington state came in fifth. carbon monoxide poisoning sent several people to the hospital today. six were rescued from the home on 29th avenue in temple hills after being overcome by the invisible odorless gas. a neighbor alerted an emergency worker to the problem this morning. >> at approximately 7:30, i heard a lot of crying and hollering, and i had a crack in my window. a few minutes later, my neighbor, mr. white, came over and he told me to call for help. the paramedic and the police, because his family was dying his whole family was dying.

>> reporter: all six people in the house were conscious and alert fortunately when they were take on the the hospital and they are expected to be okay. the gas company is now trying to figure out the source of the leak. a warning for you if you drive through college park. new cameras are catching speeders. expect barnings for the first 30 days but after that you will get a $40 ticket if you are caught going more than 12 miles an hour over the posted speed limit. at least five more cameras will be going up in college park over the next six months. a commuter alert for drivers this weekend in tysons corner. starting tonight, route 128 will be closed -- 123 will be closed under the beltway so crews can demolish bridges. this is part of the hot lanes project. it will be closed from 9:80 this evening until 5:00 on monday morning. if you are heading that way make sure you follow the detour signs. time to check on the evening rush hour on friday night. things get a little slow on

evenflo's car seat failed the crash test. the recall covers 18,000 seats made through april of this year. this combination toddler/booster the evenflo maestro is designed for children weighing 20 to 100- pounds. they use it with a harness until they are big enough to use it with a vehicle seat belt. >> here's how it is supposed to work. you clip your child in and pull the strap to tight then harness. >> reporter: but in a crash test performed at an outside

lab, two seats failed when used with their harness. >> in our test this detached from the seat and the seat cracked. this adjustor pulled through the shell and allowed the harness to loosen. >> reporter: when you look at the test again you see the strap pulled through the seat which allows the harness to loosen. >> should the harness loosing in a real crash it allows the child to be exposed to head and neck injury and ejection. the harness came loose in both tests with the 3-year-old dummy using the harness. one where it is installed with the latch system and one with the three point seat billion belt. they -- seat belt. they issued a recall for the seats. you can determine whether your seat was made by checking the label on the top of the shell. the manufacturing date is at the top. >> all right. so you are looking at the

manufacturing date on the top. it is on the back of the car seat, right up at the top. we have talked about these labels before. if parents want to find out if their car seats are expired. we have done stories like that before. t allow me to move this a little bit. this is the car seat we are talking about. this is not one that is recalled because this was manufactured in july. i'm going to give this to you now because it is a little bill even flow says there is a fix and it is free and will they will give it to parents. if they have the seat get the free fix because if that harness moves, in in the unfortunate event there's an accident and that seat loosens, that's a big problem. the number to call is at the bottom of the screen 800-238- 5921. >> did you see what happened in the crash. >> absolutely and that was just 30 miles an hour. and that was pretty slow. imagine what could happen if the car was going faster. >> important information. the winter weather is

caught on tape. a fight at the happiest place on earth? disney is reviewing a have of a man apparently attacking a bus driver. this happened earlier this week outside of hollywood studios. it shows the driver apparently being strangled by a park guest. the man was upset because the driver wouldn't let him and his family on the bus because it was full. they followed the company policy they say and the driver was not at fault. a a military hearing for

the accused ft. hood shooter will not make it to court. an officer ordered him to delete it. he faces 13 murder counts after opening fire at a texas army post. the court is hearing testimony to determine whether the case should go to trial. a giant drilling machine broke a wall and broke a record today in switzerland. engineers smashed through rock between the swiss alps to create the world's longest railroad tunnel. the tunnel about 35 miles long. it's an important milestone in the creation of a high-speed rail network throughout europe. the tunnel won't be operational, though, for another seven years. one of the richest men in the world has moved in to his -- get this, 27 story house in mumbai, india. really. price tag, just $945 million the home comes with several amenities. it has a health club and ballroom and 50 seat cinema and on the outside three helicopter

callly flower, zucchini would they gobble it up? not all of that. but that is what happened today at one elementary school but the kids were fooled and didn't know they were eating all the vegetables. as peggy fox reports the veggies were hien in pizza, pasta, sloppy joes and cheese sauce. >> good. >> reporter: these oakton elementary school students agreed to be taste testers for new food the fairfax county school nutrition people would like to put on the menu. >> they have all have five different vegetables in them. >> reporter: the kids were told there would be surprises. >> i don't like mushrooms but it tastes good. >> reporter: they are serving kids ' favorites and hiding veggies inside. every item has a sweet potatoes and even broccoli and cheese soup has it. >> i don't like broccoli but with the cheese it is awesome. >> reporter: the mary naira sauce and turkey sloppy joes contain tomatoes, zucchini, cauliflower and carrots.

>> i have tried them before and i just don't like them. >> reporter: this self described veggie hater tried the sloppy joes and had to admit. >> it is pretty good. >> reporter: the pizza with green peppers and mushrooms probably has the most fans. >> the pizza was very good. the cheese is better than what we have now. the crust was acceptable. it was nice and then this, i'm surprised they had squash in there. it was very good. >> reporter: the cooks didn't just whip everything up this morning. that would take hours and wouldn't be realistic. they use a vendor called hidden healthy, started by a mom. >> i think it is an exciting way to produce them to vegetables. now will they select that when it is on a serving line? all right. we are on the serving line right here. having our own test and i brought back the cheese sauce. you are supposed to dip a chip in to the cheese sauce. >> okay. >> and i will tell you the

caught on tape a fugitive who tried to mash his way through a traffic jam. the suspect crashed to car and police motor bikes after escaping from prison in brazil. watch this. the driver weaves through traffic before block bade four by four he backs up and grabs a police bike and smashing in to another car. wow! but the fugitive drives off again before rear ending the same four by four that was blocking his way before. officers surrounded the car and took the guy in to custody. look at that damage. >> if you think that's bizarre. listen to this. another series of collisions ended with a car going out of control, spending a parked car in to the air and through a garage. this happened yesterday in

antelope, california. and by the time it was over the driver hit that parked vehicle, two houses and a fire hydrant. she suffered minor injuries. her daughter says she suffers from bipolar disorder and she stopped taking her medication. police are considering whether to file charges. one more crazy car story here. a chevy corvette convertible took a detour in to the ocean. it happened disa in san diego last night. police say the driver drove the rental on the beach and was spinning the car in circles before getting stuck in the surf. two people the corvette face possible charges. can you top that? >> i'm going to try. somebody had a wild night in san diego. not much out there southbound. a lot of drivers from backlick to the truck scales, over an hour. that's 45 minutes longer than what it normally takes. need a lot of luck on 95 southbound at this an hour hour. on the beltway a lot of commute out there.
