police officer who calls this a clear cut criminal case of police brutality. it happened here at a party sponsored by a university of maryland fraternity at an out of the way warehouse converted into a party space hidden in a decidedly rundown industrial park in beltsville so as not to attract attention. >> bottle, glasses. >> reporter: neighboring business owners say every monday brings evidence of big parties and lots of alcohol. >> i have to spend [ indiscernible ] to clean all the mess. >> reporter: morales claims she was beaten for no reason after being pushed by a crowd into the officer who was guarding the door. he was not arrested or charged with a crime and police did not call for medical help despite his injuries. the police officer, dominique richardson along with three others who were at the scene have been suspended. moonlighting at the converted warehouse has been banned by police chief roberto hilton, but it's a moot point for now

because county officials have shut down the party space for lack of an occupancy permit. morales is recovering but his father thinks the police officer involved should face criminal assault charges. the family has hired an attorney. at prince george's county police headquarters scott broom, 9 news now. in the wake of the suspensions, prince george's county police are not offering any further comments on the matter. well, police cannot explain why two teens were shot in this area of northeast d.c. last night. investigators say they are good kids. one is recovering from serious wounds tonight. the other did not make it. bruce johnson is on this story. you say both the boys were headed to college and tonight we are going to hear from one of the brothers of one of the victims, right? >> reporter: yeah, that's right. but first a short time ago a gentleman who lives on that very block on hole brook street stopped me and for several minutes he bent my ear about the fact he's been trying to get d.c. police to patrol this block. he says there's an open air drug market here, he says

there's a lot of loitering, a lot of imported violence here and that may be what's behind the shooting of these two high school students last night. it happened in the very block he was talking about. they seem to be good kids walking down the street when some moron decided to start shooting, that's how a homicide detective described last night's slaying of the boy and the wounding of his friend. >> no confrontation, no words of shame. as far as i know they didn't make it home. they are are getting ready to graduate high school and everything. >> reporter: joseph's brothers and mother could find no reason for his slaying. >> but they shot his friend first and then joe was calling the police on his cell phone and i guess they shot him, they shot him four times. >> reporter: grief counselors were dispatched to spingarn senior high school in northeast. joseph was a senior there, de'onte, a junior. >> they played on the team,

they went out for every team, whatever, no matter what school it was, they tried their best to be regular kids. >> really sad about it you know. just like i was telling my student today like the reason that we are here, the reason we come here every day is to help students avoid the perils of their community. >> reporter: as you can imagine, lesli, in cases like you have a lot of conversations with homicide police, most of them off the record. i can tell you the one high ranking homicide detective that i talked to a short time ago, very, very much upset by this. he says this is a baffling ones, he knows that whenever young african males are short we immediately think they must have been involved in the activity. he says he's found no evidence that would substantiate that . >> it's incredible, bruce, that young people can't walk down the street just walk down the street and be assured they will make it down the street to where they were going. it is a sad story, bruce, thank you for that. it has been a year and

there is still no conviction in last year's deadly halloween shooting in clarksville. november 1st, 2009, someone fired into this house on manor stone lane during a halloween party. 19-year-old aaron brice of silver spring was killed and those bullets paralyzed 22-year- old ma nathaniel -- nathaniel quick from columbia. investigators questioned 136 people but have no solid leads. if you know anything, please call police. two words in court today from the man accused of plotting attacks on northern virginia metro stations. our bruce leshan is on the story and back in the newsroom. what were those two words. >> reporter: all farooque ahmed said to the judge today was yes, sir. he waived his right to a speedy trial and his lawyerentered a not -- lawyer entered a not guilty plea. his lawyer told the judge he needs more time to prepare to defend the ashburn man against

the charges prosecutors say the 34-year-old plotted with men last month that he thought were agents of al-qaeda. casing the metro system and planning multiple bombings in hopes of causing mass casualties at stations near the pentagon. turned out the men were undercover federal agents. a search warrant reveals some of the things agents say they found in his home, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a pistol, a rifle and shotgun, something agents call death preparation documents. they say they also seized a copy of a book buy anwar al walky, the form -- al awlaki, he is known to be a senior al- qaeda leader in yemen. claims responsibility for those explosives headed to the u.s. in cargo planes. al-awlaki also allegedly helped recruit the so-called underwear bomber. the president has taken the extraordinary step of authorizing the targeted

killing of al awlaki, an american citizen. farooque ahmed asked for a jury trial. at this point that trial is slated to start on april 11th, less than six months after his arrest. there is a reason they called the federal court in exsand district attorney -- alexandria the rocket docket. last weekend anwar guandique. the prosecution may call three or four more witnesses before possibly resting its case this week. that tight congressional race in the 11th district is finally over. republican keith fimian conceded defeat to jerry connolly today. the congressman was reelected by only 981 votes. he spent the weekend in the hospital after a routine test found a blood clot. he says he's fine, he'll have no problem doing his job, but

out of four competitive congressional races in virginia, only connolly won. he says he is listening to voters and may even be open to making changes in health care which he voted for. >> i'm absolutely open to perfecting, you know legislation. i will not support and i will vigorously resist any attempt to repeal it. >> keith fimian declined to answer questions on camera but said he decided not to ask for a recount because he did not think it would change the results. however, he said he would keep the option open if any problems are found by the state. ahead, vacation nightmares. stranded at sea. thousands of passengers trapped aboard a cruise ship off the coast of baja, california. we will have the latest in the rescue attempts. the winds dying down, a pretty nice evening. we will show the almanac. pretty average in terms of the days and numbers. you can find these numbers.

gamers say they are not surprised that thieves would go this far. >> this is the online, playing with other people and then just how adicking it is. i mean, everyone is going to be playing this game from now for the next six months, so this is it. >> investigators say the same suspects may have held up another story in the area last month and they are reviewing surveillance tape from both crimes. decision points was also released today. it is former president george w. bush's memoir. thousands lined up in dallas before dawn to get an autographed copy and in it the former president talks about his bouts with drinking, the crucial decisions he made recording the -- regarding the 9/11 terrorists attacks, the u.s. invasion of iraq and his response to hurricane katrina and while the former president was inside a handful of protesters took to the streets outside. they shouted "arrest bush now" and they held signs condemning his decision to use waterboarding as an interrogation method and his decision to invade iraq.
