families including gym riches, whose son died. >> president obama promised us that he would hunt osama bin laden and these other men down and he's a man of his word. >> reporter: the president's trip comes a day after he told 60 minutes that photos of bin laden's body would not be made public. >> we've done dna sampling and testing and so there is no doubt that we killed osama bin laden. >> reporter: he said releasing the pictures could put the u.s. at risk. >> it is important for us to make sure that verigraphics photos of somebody who was shot in the head are not floating around as an in sight. to additional violence. >> reporter: the president is not expected to make any comments at ground zero. the white house says he wants to focus on honoring the victims, not exploiting the death of a killer. >> you're going to have people who criticize it. you're going to have people who

our website wusa9.com. 16 of the 41 people arrested last hospital during a d.c. voting rights protest are due in court today. the group is expected to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges of unlawful assembly and blocking passage. they were protesting the federal budget deal that imposes avoucher program on the city and bans it from using local money to pay for abortions for poor women. most of the protesters including mayor vincent gray, paid a 50 # dollars fine to get out of jail and have charges against them dropped. this group of 15 opted for a court day instead of paying the fine. last night d.c. councilmember mary jay joined a group of protesters who blocked traffic on constitution avenue. they came out to demand greater autonomy for d.c. government and a house bill that has little chance of ever becoming law. both president obama and senate democrats oppose the bill. several were eventually arrested. the medical examiner's

office says a north carolina teenager phylicia barnes was murdered. police found the body of the 16-year-old girl floating in the susquehanna river last month. barnes went missing in december after visiting her family in baltimore. so far no one has been arrested in the case. the body of the 16-year-old will be laid to rest saturday in georgia. a memorial service for barnes is also set for may 14th in baltimore. the army corps of engineers is now debating whether or not to blast more holes in the levees along the mississippi river. that in order to spare some communities, others from severe flooding. dents in several states have been racing to fill sand bags as the water levels continue to rise in the river. memphis, tennessee could actually see a near record crest of 48 feet this week. >> the last known combat veteran of world war one has died. he started training in 1915 with the british royal navy, one month after turning 14 years old. that was the beginning of

a 41 year military career. he was 110 years old. workers in japan have entered the reactor building that was damaged in the fukushima nuclear power plant. tokyo electric power says the workers have installing ventilation machines to absorb radiation, and a new cooling system will be installed. this is the first time workers have entered the plant since shortly after the earthquake two months ago. today marks the 50th anniversary of the first u.s. manned space flight by astronaut alan shepard. wednesday the postal service dedicated a stamp in his honor. shepard went on to command the apollo 14 mission. our time is 4:37. at 4:41, nurses at the city's largest hospital are one vote away from having a new contract. and at 4:48, $20 to drive the dulles toll road? it's a possibility that could become a reality soon. up next a quick check on the forecast to get you out the door. we're back with your weather

the nurses held a one day strike in march but were locked out for an additional four days. the hospital's 1700 nurses have been working without a contract for nearly a year now. details of the agreement are not being released. nurses are scheduled to vote this friday and saturday on whether to ratify this contract. a the rich keep getting richer, there are ten and a half million millionaires in the u.s. by 20/20 that number is expected to jump to 20 million. california is the state with the most millionaires, 1.3 million. emerging markets including china, india and brazil are minting new millionaires at a faster rate because of the rapidly expanding economies. >> not me, unfortunately. >> not us. >> i guess california must be all tech companies. >> it's all the tech millionaires. >> we have a fair share in our region as well. >> here in town. well, unfortunately, the capitals season came to a screeching halt last night in

chilly. it's 47 in town, 47 in winchester, hagerstown 43. they had been at 39 last check. stanton 38, and pax river and baltimore 47 with wind chills this morning down into the lower 40s in many areas. consider that as you get dressed. 47, mostly cloudy -- excuse me partly cloudy at reagan national with a northwest wind at ten giving a winds chill of 42. nationally as you look at the satellite and radar, the thing we're noticing, this system in the middle of the country, this is our next shower maker for tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow night with showers and even thunder from minneapolis back toward kansas, approaching kansas city. the storms from yesterday morning still plagueing parts of new england and new york state. for us high pressure builds in, no problems today. then tomorrow we watch this system, it's all quiet in the morning, maybe a few clouds early. and then as we go throughout the day, notice how the showers develop in the afternoon. by 8:00 still looking at showers.

baltimore-washington parkway shut down. this is at riverdale road in the riverdale area. as you move over to our maps and take a look. a way to get around, use route 50 or 201, at least there are options early on. let's move it over to 270, southbound construction at 80 and 124, all of this should be clearing by the 5:00 hour. 495 in virginia same story on the inner loop, the construction over the dulles toll road. the dulles toll road until 5:00 a.m. you will not be able to access the capitol beltway toward baltimore, go south and use the detour through tysons corner. 66 the road work at 123, stay to the left to get by. 95 northbound no complaints out of fredericksburg past lorton to the mixing bowl. i'll have the latest on the bw parkway investigation at four before 5:00. 20 bucks, imagine paying that to drive the dulles toll road one way. that could actually happen according to a new report

released yesterday by metropolitan washington airport authority. it could be soon. dulles toll road costs around $2 right now, but that could claim as much as 19.25 each way by 2040. that would be a pay off of construction of dulles rail expansion. this it happens, projections for the higher toll fees would drop if mwaa was approved for a federal lento pay for the rail extension. 20 dollars, that's a lot of money. montgomery county council panel is voting to end the misuse of the county's take of home vehicles. this is after an audit of 394 vehicles are being used during nonwork hours. the county is reviewing all county vehicles. council members want to end the take home use of those vehicles, but they say they will wait for results of the review before they make the final decision. prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men. now a new study gives hopes to

patients who choose aggressive treatment. >> some doctors say the study should end the debate about what the best way to treat younger men with prostate cancer is. >> reporter: 59-year-old patrick gallagher found out he had prostate cancer from a biopsy. he was given several treatment options but chose the most aggressive action, he had his prostate removed. >> the ability to go through life afterwards not thinking about it. >> reporter: a new study finds more men should do what gallagher did. researchers looked at more than 600 men, one group took a wait and watch approach. the other had surgery to remove the prostate. >> if you were treated with surgery, you had a 25% reduction in your death rate. >> the study also found those men who had surgery were 60% less like three have their cancer metastasize or spread. >> prostate cancer grows slowly and surgery comes with risk, including incontinence and

sexual dysfunction. the study results are for men under 65 years old. >> a landmark study. we can tell those men with great confidence that there is significant benefit as far as your overall survival if you choose radical surgery. >> reporter: gallagher's prostate cancer was undetectable at his last check up. now he is looking forward to the future. >> i have a loving wife, she loves me, she wants to spend time with me. she wants to spend a long time with me i do too with her. >> reporter: he says the results of this study reinforce that his decision was a good one. >> 217,000 new cases of prostate cancer are detected each year in the united states. the smithsonian may soon have a new museum in its collection. a federal commission is calling for a national museum devoted to american latino history and culture to be built next to the capitol. in a report submitted to
