manassas to inside the beltway. we are looking at prince george's county roadways coming up at 4:40. andrea, mike. suleman brown is expected to testify today. he claims he was promise add lucrative job if he campaign against and publicly bashed adrian fenty during last year's campaign. the one time mayoral candidate himself, brown says he received money from vincent gray's campaign for those actions. the according to the washington post brown has copies of money orders he says he received from the gray campaign. until now brown had refused to testify before the city council. fire investigators are searching for the cause of a light night fire in southeast. the two-alarm fire started in a three-story apartment building in the 5100 block of f street. one person was transported with serious burns but not life threatening injuries. police in prince george's county say speed and alcohol

caused crash that killed three people sunday evening. they say an suv slammed into the back of the car, running that car off the road and into a tree near the intersection of indian head highway and wilson bridge rode in oxon hill. >> there were two passengers in that vehicle, two females ejected from the vehicle. they were pronounced dead on scene. the the driver was also pronounced dead. the remaining passenger an adult male was transported to a hospital. >> the driver of the car, and passenger were kid. the name of the third victim has not been released. the driver of the suv has been charged with driving under the influence and he could face more charges. there have been wild street celebrations in the city of yemen's capital. this after the departure of the country's president sallah. a government spokesman says he will return after his treatment in saudi arabia. he's been treated for

injuries he suffered in a rocket attack friday. medical officials say he underwent successful surgery on his chest. 20 people are dead, another 325 wounded in syria. syrian officials say israeli forces opened fire on palestinian protesters as they approached an israeli border fence. it happened in the occupied golan heights as protesters marked the anniversary of the 1967 war. israel is accusing syria of orchestrating the violence. roberts gates is wrapping up his final trip to afghanistan. he spent time with troops and spoke to reporters about the timetable for withdrawal from the region. gates says pulling back from afghanistan requires a delicate balance. the secretary also told the troops he thinks about them all the time and feels personally responsible for their safety. president obama has nominated cia director leon

panetta to replace gates. dominique strauss-kahn is headed back to court to answer charges that he sexually assaulted a housekeeper in new york last month. he is expected to plead not guilty. towns in missouri river are waiting for more flooding. a 14 gait dam was gushing into the missouri river. in iowa hundreds of residents were ordered to evacuate after a breach in a levee. in joplin, missouri three more people have died from injuries they received during the massive tornado two weeks ago, so far 141 people have died as a result of the tornado. about one-third of the city was destroyed. city officials plan to meet today to try to get more help clearing debris. firefighters in eastern arizona are trying to gain control of a massive blaze near the new mexico border. authorities ordered a new round of evacuations.

the oil producing nations will agree to leave output unchanged because there is surplus oil on the market. opec has not raced the ceiling in four years. stocks, if we have to check the numbers let's do it together, the dow stands at 12,151, finished the day down 97 points, nasdaq off by 40. s&p 500 off by 12. first the playstation, now the wii, the same group of hackers that attacked sony say it's responsible for a recent attack on nintendo. the japanese tech giant says no personal or company information was lost. that wasn't of course the case in the sony attack. more than 100 million users personal information was compromised. the group tweeted that it likes nintendo's game console too much to really damage the company. can you imagine? remember the military roll back in december? the washington examiner reports that the economic output of washington's annual college football bowl game doubled between 2009 and 2010.

wind at five. a good looking day. a sign that things are changing. dryer air tried to come in. the dew points, the green is more moist, the darker green is deeper moisture and the dryer wind is with us. we have a northerly wind, southerly ones will take over. increasing humidity by mid week. some 50s in the mountains in cumberland and oakland. this is where we've seen a touch or two of fog. most are in the mid to upper 60s like here in washington, we sit at 68 under partly cloudy skies. the winds are light. so with high humidity and light winds and especially north and west, that's where we've had a touch of fog. dew .64 and the barometer sitting at 29.98. i want to show you what's happening national satellite and radar. houston, texas was 105 degrees. that is an amazing temperature for them. there's a lot of heat here. we'll tap into that bringing it north and

east by wednesday and thursday. right now we have storms in the middle of the country and you can see the severe thunderstorm watch. these storms moving east-southeast. chicagoland in a few hours could be getting storms. you do the math, that the not good for the monday morning flight status here. a lot of planes go through chicago. high pressure is building now, so we'll have a good day today and stay relatively quiet. the future cast, we had a shower or sprinkle last night. not much action expected today. by 5:00, mostly sunny. at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, it's quiet. through the day we'll pop showers potentially in the mountains by midday into the afternoon and then one or two of those, we'll try to come south and east toward us. north and west tomorrow, a better chance of that, mainly afternoon storm, let's say d.c. south and east. we'll do the same thing on wednesday with perhaps a few more showers and storms in spots. the heat is building.

that should be back open as well. in my next traffic report, we're looking at route 50 in maryland at 4:56. thank you, angie. the gop campaign for the white house starts rolling, republicans may have found their most potent reupon. >> friday's disappointing jobs report has energized the party and gop members are blasting president obama and his policies. >> reporter: republicans hope they have found president obama's achilles heel, a sputtering economy, already fueling a gop fire for 2012. >> president obama tried to explain to the public the other day that this is just a bump in the road. but you try telling that bump in the road analogy to those families out there trying to keep their homes. >> reporter: only five # 4000 jobs were created last month and unemployment rose to 9.1%. economists fear a double dip recession. but the president's advisors say he inherited the problem. >> we were losing 780,000 jobs

a month when the president comes into office. fast forward to now we've added 1 million jobs over the last six months. >> and democratic lawmakers are pointing fingers at the republican house majority. >> they set the agenda. we have said every day that they're there, another day goes by and there isn't a jobs agenda or a jobs bill that has come to the floor. >> a weak economy helped the gop win the house last fall and republicans are hoping it will sweep their nominee into the white house. in pole after pole americans say the economy is the single issue that matters most. >> i think the economy is terrible and i don't think obama is doing a good job at all. >> what could anybody else have done better? >> even without a clear front runner republicans say they can do better. mr. president, you've had your turn, it's now our turn. we're the ones that are just getting started. >> the white house hopes the recovery picks up before the campaigning gets serious in iowa.

now the gop field will likely grow this week. former pennsylvania senator rick santorum is expected to announce he will run. would you believe securing a city will earn more money than running the state? metropolitan police chief kathy lanier is the washington region's highest paid top cop, pulling in $253,000 a year. and in second place, montgomery county's tom manager, with 216,000. richard because is the area's highest paid firefighter drawing $190,000. d.c.'s fire chief, is close behind at 187,000 at 175,000, fairfax county fire chief ronald masston. >> i think that's outrageous. obama gets less than that. >> lower than they should be. i'm an elected official.

his body. scientists gave him a stem cell and bone marry transplant as he was struggling with hiv and leukemia. the results were apparently astounding. >> i quit taking my hiv medication on the day that i got the transplant and now i haven't had to take any since. >> leukemia and aids? gone? >> right. >> sure? >> yeah. >> wow, well, brown received stem cells from a donor who has an immunity to hiv. one percent of caucasians are immune to hiv. some say it goes back to the great playing. people who survived that playing, developed an immunity and that immunity was passed down to descendants today. doctors are hoping to develop a less invasive treatment based on what looks like brown's cure. researchers are stopping short of calling a new drug a

magic bullet against skin cancer, but they do say the medication called zana fernib shows a 67% reduction in the death rate of melanoma parents. scientists say the drugs targets mutated genes which makes it more effective with fewer side effects. melanoma kills an average of one person every hour in america. this weekend more than 800 couples celebrated love, gathered at the national shrine of the immaculate conception, cardinal donald whurhl prosided over the mass. >> lord, bless and conhe is great these married couples in their love for each other, may these rings be a symbol of true faith in each other and always remind them of their love. >> 387 of the couples have been married for 50 years or more.
