roommate in a twisted sex game. >> tonight amanda knox is whack home in seattle a free woman. our ken molestina is live in the satellite center with her emotional homecoming. ken. >> reporter: it took more than just a click of the heels and a wish. tonight amanda knox is back home after her murder conviction was overturned in italy. her entire trip back to seattle was documented and watched around the globe and tonight she's talking about it. it was just after 8:00 that a british airways jumbo jet touched down at seattle sea-tac airport. minutes later for the first time since she was cleared of murder, a choked up amanda knock spoke publicly. >> what's important for me to say is thank you for everyone who has believed in me, who has defended me, who supported my family. >> reporter: her journey back home was monday after they acquitted her. both knox and her italian boyfriend were convicted two years ago after they said they

killed her during rough sex. it came from inconclusive evidence. now both knox and her boyfriend are free. >> i'm really overwhelmed right now. i was looking down from the airplane and it seemed like everything wasn't real. >> reporter: just like her trial, the trip home was heavily documented and scene throughout the world from the moment she left until she landed in the uk and got into seattle, cameras were everywhere. >> my family is the most important thing to me right now and i just want to go and be with them. thank you for being there for me. that crashed. one passenger died. the pilot and three other passengers made it out. the chopper went down moments after it lifted off. it was taking family friends on a tour of the city. >> the accidents will take second to happen. it will take months for us to figure out what actually caused it. we're going to understand why. with the why, it allows the safety board to make recommendations so it doesn't happen again. >> they've already begun to interview the pilot and they've taken the wreckage to see what went wrong. the dc institution says a whole lot of things went wrong when scores of teachers were fired and in the past three months arbitrators ruled many of the teachers need to be reinstated. the rulings could cause dc and the taxpayers millions of dollars. >> i absolutely know that teaching is my calling. >> reporter: she can't wait to

get back to work. after teaching audio production for two years at mckinley tech, she was fired three years ago. she says without cause by the dc public school system. >> we were doing documentaries and really phenomenal things when out of the blue just, hey, you're fired type deal. >> reporter: recently an arbitrator ruled she was wrongly dismissed. so sometime in the next few weeks she'll be back in the room. she was one of about 660 dc public school teachers who have gotten their jobs back in the past three months alone after arbitrators ruled they should not have been let go in the first place. according to sanders, the recent rulings are what he's been saying for sometime. >> they point to a pattern of wrongful terminations that are by a lack of due process. >> reporter: it's not just a
