disorder, which filled her with anger and resentment toward her family members. he said there's a lot of hate in this woman. she simply did not get along with family members. she was a woman who wanted things on her terms and when things did not go her way, she was angry. life was not going the way she wanted it to go. over and over, saminow talked about dela rosa's anger and feelings of betrayal for her daughter and anger directed at her son-in-law. and even anger toward her grandchild, angelyn, whom she threw off the sky bridge. the idea to do such a thing, de la rosa admitted to detectives she planned the hour before. saminow said she did it because she was resentful, uncaring, selfish, unloving, and angry. now dr. saminow did agree that dela rosa suffers from depressive disorder, but not to the level that would lead to

any kind of psychosis, which is what the defense is saying that she had psychosis at that moment when she threw her granddaughter off the bridge and she was legally insane and didn't know what she was doing. as soon as the defense wraps up its closing argument, the jury will get the case and we're not sure at this point whether they'll start deliberating tonight or not. if they do, we'll be here and bring you the verdict. i'm peggy fox, back to you. >> thank you peggy. >> some serious questions about a murder in prince georges county. not about who did it because the suspect is under arrest. the question 9news now is investigating is should that suspect have been in custody before the murder ever happened? matt has been working the story. what do you have? >> as you know, it's among the most serious questions that a law enforcement agency can ask. did we do everything we could to prevent the murder? that's what the prince county georges sheriff department is asking itself.

>> deangelo walker was arrested on friday for a murder in prince georges county a few weeks ago. >> found a male in the street. suffered from a gun shot wound. >> a murder that we're now learning probably could have been avoided. >> the timing really probably couldn't be any worse. >> it happened back on september 19, just before 9:00 at night. that's when walker allegedly shot and killed a man here in capital heights over some type of argument. >> we believe some type of dispute between the two led to the actual murder. >> here's where the story becomes especially troubling. two hours before the murder, prince georges county sheriff deputies served walker with an order of protection at his home here in capital heights after one of his neighbors felt threatened by walker. there was also a warrant out for walker's arrest in connection with the second- degree assault, but the sheriff deputies did not arrest him for assault when they served him with the order of protection. >> it's troubling. >> colonel darren is with the

freed american, amanda knox is in america today. she spent years in an italian prison. she has been released and manuel spoke with her father today in seattle. >> amanda knox is back in her hometown safe and sound with her family. her father won't say exactly where she is. >> she is in the united states, yes, and trust me, you will not find her. >> they are trying to give the 24-year-old time to readjust to a life of freedom. knox was overcome with emotion at her airport homecoming. >> my family is the most important thing to me right now and i just want to go and be with them. >> her family says she was all smiles at a small family gathering tuesday night. but they are concerned about the long term impact of her years in prison as an accused murder. >> we'll have to go as she goes and adjust based on that. >> knox's story has been in

prison. well the helicopter remains intact. investigators say that will give them a better chance to figure out what caused that helicopter to go down. that happened yesterday, just moments after takeoff. four people survived, but a fifth person, in fact the woman who was celebrating her 40th birthday was trapped inside that chopper and she died. >> as soon as you realize something wasn't right, it turned over and went down. >> the pilot was friends with his passengers. the three survivors are still hospitalized tonight. that pilot is not injured. bruce. derek, a forensic computer expert who examined dr. conrad murray's cell phone took the stand and jurors heard a slurred audio clip of michael jackson recorded weeks before he died. >> reporter: bruce, on day one of this trial, prosecutors prosecutors shocked the court

with a recording of michael jackson. the jurors heard from the king of bop. michael jackson slurred, barely recognizable voice in court once again. prosecutors played a longer except of the audio used in opening statements. forensic computer experts testified he recovered e-mails and voice recordings from dr. conrad murray's cell phone. prosecutors revealed an e-mail sent to murray the day jackson died. it was from a music executive in london where the singer was

scheduled to begin his comeback tour. the message raises questions about jackson's health, but dr. murray implies the singer has no medical issues. the prosecutor read part of the reply to the court. >> as far as the statements of his health published by the press, let me say they are all malicious to the best of my knowledge, sincerely, conrad murray, sent from my iphone. >> murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter, accused of causing jackson's death, by giving him an overdose of propofol. it does appear as if the trial is entering a different phase. while yesterday we had several witnesses talking about dr. murray's personal life with numerous of his girlfriends appearing on the witness stand. today, dell moore was the forensic science. bruce, back to you. >> thanks a lot.

dr. murray could face up to four years in jail and the loss of his medical license if the jury convicts him of involuntary manslaughter. the desperate search for a missing ten month old girl in kansas city is now in its second day. lisa erwin was last seen in her crib monday night. she was reported missing the next day. erwin was abducted, but frustrated by a lack of leads in the case. >> well, we haven't expanded or discovered a new area that we need to put boots on the ground in. we are going back and knocking on all the doors we didn't get an answer from yesterday and sending dogs through the woods just because we can. >> police say the baby's parents are cooperating fully, are not considered suspects. meanwhile the fbi has been called in to help with the investigation into lisa's disappearance. lots of area parents joined with their kids during their commute to school today on foot. this is afterall international walk to school day and we caught up with some of the youngsters this morning making

law in more than a thousand homes. delia in bethesda with this warning. >> reporter: these contractors are coming from some pretty reputable companies like sears, home depot, lowes, even best buy. contractors who investigators say skipped the inspection at the risk of homeowners. the montgomery county office of consumer protection found 1100 recently installed gas appliances were not inspected. that's a clear violation of the law because contractors are required by law to call the washington suburban sanitary commission and have an inspector check that job within five days. frank of silver spring had a sears subcontractor and saw a water heater last month. today an inspector found five violations that could have sent the silent killer rushing into

a sightologist testified today that carmella dela rosa was sane when she tossed her granddaughter off a bridge. the prosecution called to refute the defense's experts. the 50-year-old could not distinguish right from wrong when she tossed the toddler. the case could go to the jury sometime tonight. another person has died after eating cantaloupe contaminated with listeria. that now makes 18 folks who died from this outbreak. it's the deadliest in a decade. investigators at the centers for disease control is trying to figure out what caused the contamination. so far, at least 100 people in 20 different states have all gotten sick and as we just noted, 18 of them have died from eating that cantaloupe. >> coming up, risky business from slaughters to robbers to sexual predators. attacks on real estate agents are at an all-time high. lindsey mastis takes a closer look later in the newscast. >> still to come, you saw it

no more repelling down the washington monument. this morning engineered finished up, covered by this summer's earthquake. the quake caused a number of cracks in the monument. the 127-year-old landmark remains structurally sound. the report will help determine how the monument should be repaired and when it will reopen. >> a civil rights hailed by dr. martin luther king for his courage and energy has died. reverend fred became the pastor of the bethel baptist church. he survived a beating, a bombing, and countless arrests.

he died this morning in burmingham. rfk stadium is 50 years old and well connected dc citizens are hoping that one day the washington redskins will return there to a new rfk in the district. >> the newcomers have become a dinosaur among prostadiums, but for the old-timers, watch the old washington redskins, this place has become as familiar as the other washington monument. the stadium was opened in october of 1961, after attorney general robert kennedy played a role enforcing the skins owner to integrate the team. >> played the dallas cowboys for the playoffs, had to go to the super bowl and knocked them off. >> bobby mitchell was the first african american player. >> bobby mitchell was our jackie robinson. g rfk was the first major

stadium designed for football and baseball. the senators left in 1960. the nats arrived in 2005. only until their new ballpark could be built in southeast, that left only dc united at the aging rfk. ground breaking rfk stadium was held in 1959. the cost, $20 million. in today's money, you're looking at $147 million. it is costing the city $3 million a year to maintain rfk. >> program that we added with the college football games and dc united still playing in the short-term. we think it's well worth the investment. >> this afternoon, as dc leaders met for plans to commemorate its 50th anniversary. could the redskins be lured back to d.c. in a new rfk stadium? >> the future would be that this stadium would be demolished and build a new stadium on this site, retractable roof for the redskins. >> you think the redskins come back to d.c.? >> i hope so. that is anybody that is from
