his ideas for creating jobs are the best solutions for everyone. susan mcginniss for cbs news, washington. vice president biden will also hit the road this week to push the president's job bill. he plans to visit pennsylvania tomorrow. today the estranged husband of jane mcquain is scheduled to go before a judge in charlotte, north carolina for absolute extradition hearing. curtis lopez is charged with stabbing her to death inside her apartment. this comes as family and friends continue to search for her missing eight-year-old son, william. they are searching parks for any sign of the 11-year-old. police are not saying they think william is dead. another search expected to happen later today. president obama and civil rights leaders spent their sunday afternoon dedicating the new martin luther king jr. memorial. the ceremony took place as

hurricane irene delayed the original event. as bruce johnson tells us, huge crowds showed up to honor the civil rights leader. at times the dedication of the king memorial resembled an outdoor church service with lots of music, preaching and remembering this country's greatest civil rights leader. >> as we dedicate this monument, i can hear my father say that oppressed people cannot remain oppressed forever. >> reporter: president obama was only six years old when martin luther king was assassinated. but no one among the 10,000 people missed the significance of the nation's first african-american president dedicating the first monument for an african-american. >> a black preacher, no official rank or title, who somehow gave

writer. indy car drivers and fans are mourning the death of indianapolis 500 winner dan wheldon. the 33-year-old died in a fiery 15--car pileup at the las vegas motor speedway sunday. three other drivers were injured. wheldon is the indianapolis 500 champion. there was talk of a possible controversy between rex grossman and john beck. >> maybe it is back. after yesterday's game versus the eagles, the controversy is now the talk of dc sports. grossman had what can only be described here as his worst game of the season. he threw four interceptions, only completed nine passes before he was benched for beck. beck would go on to lead the

skins offense on a touchdown drive, but it wasn't enough to overcome the eagles and michael vick. vick had one touchdown one interception and a 20-13 win over the skins. the skins are now 3-2 on the year. no word who will start under center next sunday? uconn van mcnabb and his former team were in chicago for the game against the bears. the highlight of the game, bears receiver scored on a 48-yard touchdown pass. 3-10 another note from this game, mcgame was benched. another team from baltimore hosted the texans. the path went down the field deep for a 32-yard touchdown

among the banks expected to release results. last week jp morgan chase. banks may offer more bad news because of weakness. also a busy week for economic reports including the latest on inflation and home sales. the stock market coming off the best three week game since july of 2009. stocks rallying on strong earnings from google. the dow standing this morning at 11644. climbed 166 points on friday up almost 4% for the week. the nasdaq added 47 points per gain, on 7 cents for the week. the nasdaq rose 21 friday. the national association of letter carriers was hiring its own financial consultants. they are going to study the future of the postal service.

the agency lost $8 billion last year and is proposing cutting mail delivery to five days a week. cutting as many as 200,000 postal positions. internet video chad service skype is now officially part of microsoft. the two companies joined forces last thursday. that is when microsoft completed its $8.5 billion buyout of skype. mix soft is count go on skype to give it a bigger president fence online socializing. nasa is booking a flight to virgin galactics. it is working to become the world's first commercial space line. the nasa charter would be a sub orbital flight. the contract includes options for two additional flights. would you go on it? what do you think? >> i'm not sure. i have to watch some of the old movies and see what to do. it is a little scary. but it is the future. >> there are new guidelines for diagnose and go screening

southern ohio. some of them had been sneaking some -- sneaking in toward individual and maryland. we have seen a few sprinkles toward cross junction. that is it right now. behind the front we have temperatures in the 50s. oakland now down to 41. 64 in culpepper. 64 fredericksburg. here in washington we sit at a comfortable 65. light winds west northwest at reagan national. the dew points at the upper 40s. the air mass still fairly comfortable. i want to point your attention to the cold up across montana. 20s in spots. going to touch some of the cooler air toward the second half of the week. while we start mild this week, once the storm system pushes through, we will cool down.

all this rain and snow here, across the essential and northern rockies. you have a lot of weather down across south florida, the keys, western cuba. this storm is going to come up in response to the rockies coming across. that is why it looks like wednesday will turn out to be a wet day. we put the fought cast in motion. by noon look at that. we are clearing down, over toward ocean city and richmond. tonight a couple of clouds here and there during the overnight. the next system is starting to gather itself by late tuesday. the storm in florida is moving north, by wednesday morning we have showers and moderate, maybe heavy rain at times here. as we go through wednesday, wednesday afternoon low pressure will be passing us. that is why i think wednesday is probably a loss outside. but you know, we'll make the best of it.

concern. in the meantime the right lane is blocked. left lane is getting by. south capital street remains blocked as well. your choices are north of this point take malcolm x, on the south side, take chesapeake street to overlook avenue. that is your detour. police are on the scene helping you get around the situation as well. we are hearing south capital street may reopen by 5:00. let's go over to the map north side of town. on the beltway where you have construction being picked up. very slow and heavy as they were picking up the cones from the overnight construction. lanes should be reopened shortly and i'll show you that next time around as well. coming up in my next report we'll look at both those situations. thank you monika. thousands of demonstrators stood shoulder to shoulder on the washington monument lawn saturday. they were answering the call

the dc delegate to the house of representatives is only allowed to vote in committee. the american academy of pediatrics is out for new guidelines for diagnose and go treating kids with adhd. >> the panel recommends all patients between four and 18 be evaluated who show signs of the condition. >> reporter: 10-year-old michael takes medication for his adhd. doctors diagnosed him with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder when he was five years old. >> he was having trouble focusing. any sound he would hear, he would be distracted. >> reporter: hyperactivity, lamb of impulse control and lack of attention are all classic signs of adhd. but treating preschoolers who exhibited those symptoms used to be tricky, because there were no formal guidelines until now. the american academy of peed the

kt tricks just released a treating plan. >> reporter: more than 5 million children have been diagnosed with adhd at some point in their lives. under the new guidelines, the first treatment should be behavior therapy fthat doesn't work and the symptoms are pretty bad, doctors should consider medication. >> the hope is with earlier identification and first line treatment, children will be able to function better, be better accepted by their peers and do better in grade school. >> reporter: michael struggled during kindergarten and had to repeat the grade. his mother wishes he had gotten help soon year at four, had he been diagnosed with adhd, i could have saved myself and my son a lot of grief. >> reporter: now in fourth grade he is doing well in school, sandra hughes, cbs news, los angeles. previous guidelines
