weather-wise, we got a couple of sprinkles early. and then we're looking at sunshine and windy conditions. couple of passing clouds this afternoon. 59 by noon. by 5:00, 60 degrees and we stay windy there. the winds could be gusting over 30 miles an hour at times. satellite and radar from last night. boy the big heavy showers across loudoun county. this morning notice just a couple of stragglers and sprinkles, there they are. i'm going to show you this on live doppler 9000 hd. not much to talk about from poolsville to boyd up to clarksburg and north of jermantown there but that's it. there are a couple of very light sprinkles. temps have fallen into the 50s now north and west. 63 on the day and 55 now down in fredericksburg and culpeper and in the 40s in luray. today we're going to be dropping but look at the winds gusting to 36 at pax river. our gusts are in the mid 20s but picking up again in the next few hours, an update on timesaver traffic from monika with the new maps and new

after midnight in southeast washington. 9news now reporter kristin fisher is there with the latest. good morning kristin. >> reporter: good morning. well, the victim here was an adult male passenger. he was on the w 4 metro bus to deanwood and the bus was stopped right at this metro bus stop just on the other side of this police car and around midnight. early this morning, two men shot this passenger several times. the passenger that was shot was then taken to the hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival. now we don't know exactly where he was shot in relation to the bus stop. was he shot on the bus or the doorway or just outside? we still don't know. that's what police department detectives are still trying to figure out right now. and they're still on the scene. the big question now though is what about these suspects? where are they? two of them still on the loose. police still trying to track them down at this hour but we

don't know about the motive or any description about these suspects. but what we do know, the good news here is that this metro bus has been taken to the d. c. police crime lab and there are cameras both inside and outside of that bus. so chances are that whatever went down, was caught on camera. so that's something that police are also trying to sift through right now at this hour. but you can see this section of alabama avenue still shut down as we start to head into the morning rush hour. back to you. >> all right, kristin fisher reporting live from southeast washington. a falling tree branch has killed a personal trainer in northwest washington. ben mufti's landlord found the man on the ground yesterday. he had just left his home and was walking to work at the sport and health club as he usually did. d. c. public works crews inspected the tree and found that the tree is healthy. montgomery county police say they have surveillance

video which may show 11-year- old william mcquain just minutes before he was killed. the video is from a camera at liberty gas station. william's body was found in some woods close by. police say the video shows the suspect, william's stepfather curtis lopez paying for some gas at the station as williams was playing near lopez's car. his mother was found murdered last week in their home. lopez is accused in both slayings. police have revealed a possible motive now in the murder of a 12-year-old gaithersburg girl. suspect david rich hang was jessica nguyen's stepfather and back in may she was found stabbed to death in the basement of her home. police say hang was in the midst of a bitter divorce with her mother and they believe that he married her as part of an immigration scam. d. c. mayor vincent gray signed an executive order against cooperating with federal authorities, that is at least when it comes to illegal immigration. the directive orders police and

down to 29.39 in spots. if you watch it. you know normal's about 30. we get a deep storm system like we got in the midwest can that's one of the reasons we're seeing such a low pressure here. we had a little low near us and that's one of the reasons we didn't get the warm and severe weather. if you are sensitive to that pressure changes, big pressure changes, this is going to be a painful day for you and nothing we can do about it except get through it. and when the pressure settles out you know, your joints will feel a little bitter. blame the earth -- better. blame the weather. the bus stop forecast. winds are going to be howling at times today. temperatures up into the low 60s after falling back into the 50s here over thefection few hours. starting -- next few hours, starting over the next few hours. some of the gust today will be in the 30-mile an hour range. by noon at 59-degrees and by 5:00 60. look at the sustained winds. 19. 19. out of the southwest and normally, southwest is a warm

breeze for us. but it's not normal. this is a big storm and that cold air is already south and west of us. so the cold will be coming from the southwest. here's a look at the radar and satellite in motion and you can see the showers that are pushing through to the north no. much here now -- not much here now. however on live doppler 9000 hd the last of the stragglers, a few sprinkles, boyd, clarksburg into jermantown on the north side there moving up into damascus, that's about it in the local area. a couple of showers in far northeastern maryland also pulling away. we've got 50s and hagerstown through martinsburg and winchester. oakland apt 37. while culpeper, fredericksburg in the 50s. we're still 60. so for us the cold air is coming in from that direction the southwest. we're gusting 25 here in washington. to 36 at patuxent river. southwesterly winds here. that front that will be sweeping through and you guys are going to be cooling down too into southern maryland over the next couple of hours as the

i'm happy to say i have nothing but good news right now. here's the beltway. we're going to zoom in first to the district where there are no problems to report downtown and here's what it looks like on the beltway north side of town. we're looking fine. there was an accident on the outer loop at connecticut avenue that was moved to the left shoulder and didn't cause any mobs heading west on -- problems heading west on the beltway from silver spring to bethesda. 270 from frederick, all lanes are open. in fact a live look right now at falls road. again, just a little bit of volume. it's early. 5:30 and all the people are out headed to work but they're not going to encounter any delays heading down to the point where the lanes divide and we'll head over to the american legion bridge on the best side of town. -- west side of town. we're good from tyson's corner up from bethesda and down from bethesda into virginia. back to you mike and andrea. 5:31 just about now. president obama is waking up at the white house this morning after the three day bus tour of north carolina and virginia.

good morning. >> reporter: that's correct mike. good morning. we still have two suspects on the loose. we don't really have any description of them at this point but at least there were cameras on this metro bus and right now, that metro bus has been taken to the crime lab. there are cameras both inside and outside the metro bus so police are hoping that those cameras may have caught something to find out who these suspects are. they're accused of shooting and killing a passenger on the metro bus. it was taken away but -- excuse me the bus stop is just behind this police car over here. and it happened right around midnight. these two suspects shot the victim several times we don't know exactly where. was it inside or outside the bus? they may have even been passengers, that's again something that detectives are still trying to sort through. as for the victim, he was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. really a sad story out here. still trying to piece together exactly what happened and why. but that is all part of the

investigation that is as you can see still going on behind me. mike? >> thanks kristin. live in southeast d. c. this morning. prince george's county firefighters found a body inside a burning car early this morning. this was in forestville, maryland. crews were putting out the fire in the 2900 block of haverton road. there were human remains inside. no word yet on the approximate age, race or gender of the body. police are now working on the investigation. a montgomery county jury could start deliberations later today in the trial of a teacher accused of abusing her students. susan burke was the first grade teacher at green castle elementary until her arrest in january. she's accused of choking, scratching and punching several children. burke took the stand wednesday and testified about school policies. the defense also called two educators to the stand who said they never saw burke inappropriately touch a child or even yell at her class. the new program is being

launched in loudoun county, virginia to help protect children from online predators. it's called "computer cops." software program that lets parents permanently delete images and information that may have been downloaded on home computers. the software is free. the sheriff's office is offering the program to residents as part of a series of courses on internet safety. 5:34. time for another your money. if you are flying to grandma's for the holidays, start saving and booking now says jessica doyle. >> that's right. the reason why, airfares going up yet again. we see this a bunch of times of course this is happening just in time for the holidays. major airlines are joining in the first widespread airfare increase since the summer. now delta got things started raising one way fares by $4 to $10 on most routes. even before the hike airfares were up. average ticket prices over the thanksgiving holiday week are running 6% higher this year according to hot wire. and in december, airfares are

heading toward brandy wine. it is a fatal accident involving a pedestrian struck. it happened about 25 minutes ago. maryland state police tell us they are directing traffic through the area all lanes are blocked. northbound on route 301 right in this area. so i suggest that you go ahead and veer off on route 228 over to route 210 and you make your way up to the beltway that way if you can and just plan early and give yourself extra time through that area. let's take a live look at the beltway at branch avenue. heading south through this one on the beltway itself you're fine through oxon hill and heading to the bridge and take a quick live look on the beltway north side of town on the outer loop. just a little bit of congestion in silver spring but incident free from laurel. coming up we're going to take a look into the accident coming in from waldorfment back to you guys. mike? thanks monika. making news now at 5:48. the windy city living up to its name.

strong gusts pushed the waters of lake michigan on to the roads in chicago. people even had a hard time just trying to walk outside. emergency crews closed the lake front. however, curious people just showed up anyway. authorities in coastal colombia, south america say they are no reports of casualties so far but flooding has left entire neighborhoods underwater. the flood waters also washed out roads and cutoff communities if the water keeps coming. now to some welcome water. the new larger and improved panama canal is being filled up now. it should improve access for the vessels using the canal. tonight, the key to the cure cancer fundraiser kicks off at 6:00 at the saks fifth avenue store in maryland. it includes nancy flo reen a breast cancer survivor. proceeds are going towards

research and treatment of cancers in women. monies raised tonight will benefit the breast care center at suburban hospital. look for me there. i'm a member of the honorary chair committee. and last night monika and i were at another key to the cure event at tyson's corner, it's saks fifth avenue store there. >> yes, the kickoff event and in fact it benefited health systems life with cancers and what's so amazing about that is it's an amazing resource to help people that have been diagnosed. to help cope with it and the management and not only them but also the families and friends involved in this. kids and teens. there we are hosting the event last nigh. we were picking out the winners and by the way my mother-in-law won as well. >> i know. >> it was -- >> i picked the ticket so it wasn't -- right. >> we thought that was hilarious. [ laughter ] and this is benefiting like we said live foot cancer -- >> there we are.

we've got some winds behind this tremendous storm that's out to the north and west. low pressure really low pressure right now. one area that's coming up to the north and east and our pressure will start to rise. on this storm you can see it spinning back here some of the heavier rains across michigan down through indiana and ohio, kentucky. for us, we have a couple of stragglers left nearby and little bit of lightning and thunder toward williams port here and that's moving up into new york state and northeastern pennsylvania. so the overall trend is at

safe in an operating room but not designed to be used as a sleeping aid. dr. conrad murray is charged with manslaughter in michael jackson's death. lindsay lohan has posted bail after a judge revoked her probation. a los angeles county judge revoked lohan's probation wednesday after the actress encountered problems during the community service assignment at a women's shelter. the judge will decide whether to send her back to jail november 2nd. the actress has been released early on four previous jail stints because of overcrowding. she was already on probation from a 2007 dui case. there's a new honorary member of a boston fire house. he's not old enough to be a firefighter, but he is old enough to realize those firefighters saved his life this week earlier. reporter karen anderson tells the story. >> reporter: an emotional reunion between a boston fire

lieutenant and a 6-year-old boy. >> this is your house all right? you lost your home but this is your house. >> reporter: lieutenant glen is once again holding the little boy he caught after xavier was dropped from the third floor of his burning rock bury home early monday morning. what did it feel like when he caught up? >> it feel like -- feel good. >> reporter: his grandmother was dangling him out the window waiting for someone to help. >> when i let xavier go, he grabbed on to the window sill. he was kicking and screaming and i saw the officer there and i let him go. >> reporter: today xavier's grandmother didn't want to let go of the lieutenant. >> please don't let him miss the catch and when i saw my grandson screaming as he fell, and he just fell right into the officer's arm right there. >> reporter: the firefighters gave xavier a new boston fire
