andrea. >> reporter: tonight a montgomery county judge released some of the compelling visual evidence that was presented in court today, but he did use his discretion and not release everything to the public, including photographs of jana murray here at the crime scene and at the autopsy. she lived life to the fullest, and we know her accomplished life came to an extraordinarily violent end. prosecutors say murray suffered 322 distinction identifiable injuries, including an astonishing 107 defensive wounds, the most the state medical examiner had ever seen. newly released photographs detail the different weapons that brittany norwood allegedly used, as many as eight including a hammer and box cutters. murray's body was found with a bloody rope around her neck. the brutal attack lasted as long as 30 minutes prosecutors

gary fletcher has lived on the streets of frederick for years, but ever since this summer, it's gotten very dangerous. groups of teens are out there harassing and attacking homeless men and women. bill boyd has seen his friends attacked. >> they pulled a knife out on somebody, like 25 of them, ganged all around us, and then they followed the other people down the creek, and that's when they got beat up and thrown in the creek. >> it's clothing and stuff. they take that and destroy stuff and take knives and cut it up if they can get ahold of it. >> as if something homeless is not tough enough. >> the police have stepped up foot and bike patrols, and they are increasing lighting in the problem areas. next month they will install security cameras. officers are working with various community organizations including the homeless coalition and encouraging people to report harassment and abuse. a tv series spinoff for you. love boat, the freshmen years.

one maryland college moving hundreds of students from their dorm rooms to a cruise ship. st. mary's college has two college dorms have a bad case of mold. unhabitable until it's cleaned up. they are renting out the sea voyager. it will be docked right near campus. >> they will have the full run of the ship, the ballrooms and the shuffle board. >> i think it's sweet. it fits well with the school, and i think a lot of kids are stoked about it. >> anyone would be stoked, except for the shuffle board thing. they are young for that. the school says renting the ship will not cost more than the hotel rooms. alas, however, captain stu is not part of the deal. president obama is rolling out a deal to help people with crushing student loan payments on their backs. the plan reduces payments to 10% of their income after monthly bills and helps them

tonight a verdict of guilty in the first criminal trial to come out of this country's worst coal mine disaster in decades. on trial in west virginia the former security chief at the massey upper big branch mine. last year in april the explosion there killed 29 miners and late today a federal jury found that security chief did try to impede the investigation into the disaster by lying to investigators and trying to destroy thousands of documents involving security at

the mine. tomorrow hundreds of volunteers are expected back in hanover county virginia carrying on a search for a missing child with autism. his name robbie woods. he is nine years old and he disappeared sunday afternoon while out for a walk with his family in the north battlefield park. despite coming up empty after three full days of looking very intensely the police and family remain optimistic. >> there can be no question that we believe and we are operating under the assumption and with the understanding that robert wood jr. is alive and we are seeking to give him the aid that he needs and to reunite him with his family. >> those search dogs have picked up robbie's scent but still no sign of the boy himself. survival kits and food and area have been left in the area but so far left untouched. tonight's health alert. the flu shot may not be as

incision. >> i needed lifesaving surgery when i was days old. >> reporter: he was born with a congenital heart defect. he had a hole between the two ventricals or pumping chambers in his heart. >> i had the open heart surgery in 1993 to transplant a valve and they said at the time they thought the valve would last maybe 10, 15 years. >> reporter: and it lasted even longer. but recently john began to feel his energy fade away. >> over the last six months or so i really noticed that my ability to just go out and do day-to-day activities was decreasing significantly. >> reporter: the transplanted valve he had was becoming blocked and leaking. it needed to be replaced. but this dad to be didn't want to be laid up with another open heart operation and possibly miss the birth of his child. >> to be able to be there when your first child is born, that's a moment you don't get

back. >> reporter: that's where something called melody comes in. a new type of replacement valve that can be placed in by a catheter into a vein. >> reporter: this doctor says the valve is sewn onto a stent once guided into position a tiny balloon inflates it and the new valve starts working right away. the difference to the patient in recovery time is huge. >> when people have open heart surgery they feel like they have been hit by a truck. with a heart catheter other than have a sore groin from the procedure we have done the next day they feel great. >> reporter: and john was able to be there with his wife as they welcomed little benjamin into the world only four days after his procedure. >> but hopefully with this maybe i will get a little bit more back and be able to keep up with benjamin over the long haul. >> john was the first patient in our area to get this new heart valve implanted that way. they are all back home in alexandria and that little guy is 10 days old today and you

the washington redskins back to work this afternoon preparing for yet another tough matchup this sunday against the 4-2 buffalo bills. they have just a few days and a lot of work to do first getting the new roster editions and young guys replacing those injured getting them up to speed and pretty much trying to pinpoint what has broken down over the last two weeks. since the bye the skins have lost two straight against struggling teams despite their recent downturn though the guys say they haven't lost confidence. >> teams that lose their confidence should panic but a team like us i feel like as long as we can claw back each week and obviously the next one is the big one so we need a win. >> always ways we can improve. we know the type of team we have and what connect do when

we put it all together. >> rex grossman released from the hospital today where he was battling pneumonia. grossman could play sunday if necessary they are optimistic. london fletcher resting a hamstring. nationals manager expressing his desire to remain as the nats skipper next year. he said he would like to finish things that he starts. good trait for a manager. looks like he will get that chance. nationals finished their managerial search and plan on keeping johnson on for the next season. however, an official announcement about johnson and his staff won't be made until after the world series is over. capitals defenseman mike green didn't practice with the team in edmonton today. green twisted his right ankle saturday against the red wings and was still limping. the coach wasn't confident green would be able to go thursday against the oilers.
