7:18 pm
>> the haunted house will be open to trick-or-treaters hallowe'en night. the only hope is the snow is gone by the time hallowe'en rolls around on monday. >> down there they probably will symbolically just rain ending? snow briefly. west of 95, it is going to be serious, potentially our largest october snowfall is upon us. >> perhaps an historical event. let's start with how much snow we think will fall. it is sort of tricky. won't be on the streets that much. more on the grassy surfaces and unfortunately on the trees. so west of i-95, 1 to 3 inches. farther north to gaithersburg, 3 to 6 inches. hagerstown and fulton county. a little stripe into the shenandoah valley. 6 inches plus. this is a big deal. i know it is only october but

getting smaller. looks like it is raining to the west. not raining yet. it is above us and evaporator. it will develop well below midnight probably unfortunately just before the high school football games end. cold air is actually funneling down from north. a weak area of high pressure north and this storm coming from the south. it will develop and sort of recenter off the carolina coast then move up the atlantic seaboard much like a storm you would expect in january or february, for that matter. so, yes, snow in october. probably some rain the second half of high school football. we will still have files tonight at 11 p.m. just a cold rain for us. changeover time between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. depending on where you are. closer to 2 p.m. in the district. closer to 11 a.m. up in gaithersburg. and out toward fairfax. and then we are looking at rain ending in snow even south and east of town late in the afternoon early evening. so tonight, cloudy, breezy and cold, rain well below midnight and winds starting to increase
