boulevard and the beltway. looking good. all the cones were moved to the side from the overnight construction between 95 and silver spring. traffic moving at speed, this time over to the bw question and route 50. in the bowie area, that is just the initial report. i'll keep you posted on that. you are going to be okay. heading into northeast this morning. we'll look at the beltway just on the south side of town near route 4, pensacola pen avenue. here through austin hill you are fine. no problems coming in from southern maryland on route 4, 5, or 301. coming up in my next report virginia at 5:10. it was the result many court observers expected and it came very quickly. >> brittany norwood is now convicted of first degree murder in the lululemon case. it took an hour to come back with the guilty verdict.

norwood's lawyers admitted early on their client killed her coworker, 30-year-old jayna murray. but they had hoped to spare norwood a life sentence. surae children is back at the scene of the crime with reaction to the verdict. >> reporter: good morning. it is eerie, coming back to the crime scene here at the lululemon store knowing now the details of the brutality. brittany norwood nothing less than a cold-blooded killer. quick decision. they had a choice between first degree and second degree murder. but they would knotted be swayed by anything less than the toughest verdict possible in maryland, first degree, premeditated murder. here's jayna murray's brother, hue, talking about the decision yesterday. >> today has been an unbelievably stressful day.

and i actually wish that i never had to hear any of these words. but hearing them, that we got a first degree murder verdict, was very pleasing. >> hue murray emotional, choking back tears. the verdict paves the way now for brittany norwood to spend the rest of her life behind bars. back to you mike and andrea. sue rae, what have jurors said that convinced them of first degree murder? >> reporter: some of the convincing things they talked about was jayna murray suffered through all the blows, the 331 blows the medical examiner described and she lived through all of that. a painful, slow death.

that is one of the reasons. we'll talk about some of the other reasons in the next half hour andrea. surae chinn reporting live in front of the lululemon store in bethesda. the man accused of killing his estranged wife and her 11-year-old son is back in maryland. curtis lopez was extradited from north carolina. officers say he murdered 51-year-old jane mcquain in her apartment last month and days later found the body of her son, william in a wooded area in clarksburg, maryland. he died of blunt force trauma to the head. lopez is expected to be charged in william's murder very soon. the end of life dispute we told you about yesterday morning did not happen. 56-year-old daniel sanger died before the hearing started. a heart attack in july left

sanger severely brain damaged. last month his wife consented to having his feeding tube removed. but his brother and mother questioned the decision. sanger died just a few hours before a judge was to hear arguments from the two sides. the communications chairman in the lowdon county republican committee has resigned over a controversial halloween picture of the president. his resignation letter says the picture was in bad taste and if he had reflected a little longer he would have sent out a different photo. time for the latest your money report in the morning. >> jessica is here talking about the numbers on wall street. >> reporter: good morning. the g20 summit is happening today. the rest of the eu is trying to strong arm greece into doing what it is told. the federal reserve said the

the occupy wall street protesters in oakland, california shue shut down operations at a shipping port. five hour long protest was intended to highlight a day long general strike. the port demonstration was peaceful but there were clashes in other protests. one protester was actually hit by a car. as road, tree and power crews keep trying to clear away debris, authorities in connecticut are in the process of delivering food and water to dozens of towns where there is still no power five days after the weekend blizzard. hundreds of thousands of people remain without electricity. a third woman accusing republican presidential candidate herman cain of inappropriate sexual behavior. cain says his rival, rick perry is behind these stories. perry is pointing the finger at mitt romney and romney's campaign denies any leaking of information. the federal government may actually be losing money in a

welcome back to 9 news now we are following breaking news out of aspen hill, maryland. firefighters are battling a house fire, which injured two people. the call came in just before 4:00 this morning. >> the 4700 block of irish street, two victims were pulled out of the burning home. we have a crew on the scene collecting information right now. changing gears there is a little good news for the redskins faltering offense. >> but a review of last sunday's game adds more insult to injury about the redskins shutout loss. >> reporter: good morning, everybody. if being shutout and nine sacks wasn't bad enough for the redskins, they learned in fact they gave up ten sacks against

maryland. a house fire is in aspen hill, maryland. the call for help came in just before 4:00 this morning. >> this is a live shot of the scene in aspen hill in the 4400 block of irish street, rescuers pulled the two victims out of the burning home. the victim not as seriously injured is a man in his 60s and we'll bring you any information on this fire in aspen hill as soon as we get it. this morning president obama is meeting with his french and german counterparts before the g20 summit, which officially kicks off today. the economy is slated as a topic in the south of france. the greek minister has now called for a national vote on the bailout package already approved by the greek parliament. the greek people as i said are wise and capable of making the right decisions for the

benefit of our country. >> the focus here is a european problem that requires a european solution. for which the europeans have the resources and capacity necessary. it is feared that if the greek people reject the bailout in next month's leverage dumb the economic collapse that have country could trigger a global recession. guilty of first degree murder. montgomery county jury took about an hour to return a verdict against brittany norwood in the lululemon case. the lawyers tried to convince the jurors the murder was not premeditated. surae chinn was live outside the store. surae, good morning. >> we talked with some of the jury members. they say what convinced them the most was jayna murray was alive during the 331 blows and that

she suffered a slow and painful death. it didn't take long for the 12-member jury to come to their swift decision to convict brittany norwood of first degree murder. one juror said the suffering of a slow death and the fact jayna murray fought back, and there was the knife the final injury through her brain, but jayna had been alive through the other blows. >> we basically wanted to be thorough and make sure there was nothing that could cause reasonable doubt. we discussed possible scenarios and couldn't of any scenario where it wasn't premeditated. >> what made it premeditated was the number of injuries and the fact that they were sustained while she was still alive. >> and jury members said that norwood used a handful of weapons to savagely kill jayna

murray, including a wrench, hammer and knife. they said that some of the other things that convinced them was jayna murray's mother, taking the stand. one juror sid that clinched the decision. she was so emotional talking about her daughter's lost life. >> thank you surae chinn, she is live outside the lululemon store. in a case of where the body has never been found the defendants brian gaither and johnny sweet are accused in the alleged kidnapping and killing of 18-year-old latisha frazier. frazier was expected of stealing money from a group of people. authorities say she was beaten, bound of tape and her body was disposed in a trash bin. however, her body has never
