police in connection with a growing sex scandal. >> this is not a case about football. it's not a case about universities. it's a case about children who have had their innocence stolen from them. >> this is 9news now. and we do begin tonight with the latest claims that sexual harassment against herman cain. anny, the woman claims this incident happened in dc and she's talking about it. >> yes, right here in dc. it was more than ten years ago. in fact, she was in washington to meet cain, hoping he would help her get a job. instead, he had other plans for the two of them. he also grabbed my head and brought it towards his crotch. i was very, very surprised and very shocked. i said, what are you doing? you know i have a boyfriend. this isn't what i came here for. mr. cain said, you want a job, right? >> sharon described the

evening in 1997 when she had dinner in washington, d.c. with cain. the two were in a car from what she thought was a ride to its office building. the chicago area woman said cain stopped when she protested. >> i'm coming toward to give a face and a voice to those women who cannot or for whatever reason do not wish to come forward. >> cain's campaign continues to deny the allegation s against him. even getting into some heated exchanges with reporters. >> don't go there. >> i'm right here. >> please send him the journalistic ethics. >> an attorney known for high profile sexual harassment cases, the first woman to come forward, so show her face and give details of her allegations against cain. three other women have made

similar claims, but they remain unanimous. >> i want you, mr. cain, to come clean. just admit what you did. admit you were inappropriate to people. >> now claims that she has no plans to file a lawsuit or make claims against cain. but after today's press conference, cain's campaign took no time to issue denial. all allegations against him are false. derek. >> thank you. well there is reaction pouring into that guilty verdict against michael jackson's daughter. kristin fisher has been following this all day. >> i think michael jackson fans are thrilled by the guilty verdict. but i think others are surprised by the severity of what will happen to conrad murray. he is facing up to four years in jail. he's going to lose his medical license and spend the next three weeks in jail without

bail until sentencing. >> we, the jury in the title action, find the defendant, conrad murray guilty of the crime of involuntary manslaughter. >> a stone faced conrad murray the moment he learns he has been convicted in the death of michael jackson. but it was a very dissent different reaction outside the courthouse. fans of michael jackson shouted guilty. lock him up. and that is exactly what happened to murray just ten minutes after verdict was read. >> dr. murray's wreckless conduct in this case poses a risk to the safety of the public. if dr. murray remains out of custody on bond, and even though dr. murray is a medical doctor and even though he has been practicing public safety demands that he be remanded. based upon my evaluation of all of these factors, i conclude that remand is appropriate. dr. murray is remanded to the custody of the los angeles

sheriff with no bail. >> murray was immediately taken away in handcuffs. six weeks after the start of the trial. murray maintained his innocence from day one. his attorneys argue that michael jackson gave himself a lethal dose of propofol when murray left the room. prosecutors say murray was criminally negligent, a wreckless position that gave jackson the fatal dose and the jury sided with the prosecution. >> now that jury has been released. they are now free to discuss the trial. they don't have to if they don't want to. so derek, the big question now is, will the members of this jury speak out? >> one thing for sure. we in the media won't be asking them to. >> back to you guys. >> two former officials at penn state university surrendered today to face charges in a sex abuse scandal. senior vice president, gary schultz and athletic director, tim curly stepped down from

their posts yesterday. they were accused of failing to report suspected child abuse by former football coach, jerry sandusky. >> it's likely allowed a child predator to continue to victimize children for many, many years. >> he was arrested over the weekend. he is accused of sexually abusing eight boys over 15 years through a charity for at risk youth. today, bruce johnson spoke with levar airington, and also former penn state star. what is he saying about these disturbing charges? >> you know, like all penn state alumni, he is upset about this, lesli. if he says the allegations prove true, all those responsible should be held accountable. >> i think it's good that we talk about it. >> levar was at the mic this afternoon to talk about redskins loss. it was the at risk children that were often seen around the penn state football program that weighed heavily on his mind today. >> did you get a chance to spend time with kids in the

program? >> yes. yes. and like i said, i never felt any discomfort. i never felt as though something didn't feel right when i was around some of these kids that jerry was bringing around. >> late 1990s, lee levar arrington was on a great defense. he always had respect. until he was charged with 40 counts of sexually abusing the boys in the second mile program. >> if people had knowledge of this and they did not do anything, if jerry did these things, then the law of the land should dictate what their fate is. >> he left penn state and became the redskins number one draft pick at about the same time that jerry was retiring

things are back to normal along massachusetts avenue when a dump truck hit a gas meter. several streets were blocked off. nearly 60 people were evacuated as a precaution. that leak has since been repaired. >> an emergency like that typically sends the gas company right into action. but, waiting for a scheduled appointment with the technician from a utility or cable company, that takes a big chunk out of people's work at the office. a new poll finds waiting for those appointments cost american workers $37.7 billion

it joins our everyday $5 footlongs! subway. eat fresh. new information tonight in the fight over graphic warning labels on cigarette packs. a u.s. district judge says not so fast. he blocked the government from requiring images of dead and diseased smokers in oregon to be put on the pack. many of these pictures simply go too far. the justice department argued the pictures are needed to show the real dangers of smoking and keeping new people from lighting up. no bail today for a frostburg student from waldorf accused of killing her classmate over the weekend. scott broom is live in frostburg, maryland, with more on what we learned in court

today. scott. >> reporter: the court documents revealed it was a big party at one of these offcampus houses behind me. a party, and a theme, booty shorts for girls. the alleged attacker, a 23-year- old woman from waldorf. >> it was a big student party at a rental house, footsteps away from the campus. a party where shanee liggins was collecting a cover charge at the door. according to court documents. after being ejected. liggins approached. at least four witnesses said they saw liggins with a knife in her hands. either before, during, or after the attack. the day liggins parents left the courthouse after a bail hearing for their daughter with little to say. >> i share your outrage. your alarm. >> the administration at frostburg is reeling from the second murder on this campus in

just 18 months. both after confrontations at route offcampus parties. >> i'm angry because over the past five years, we have worked extremely hard. extremely hard to create a safer community both on and off campus at frostburg state university. and despite our efforts, we've had two violent deaths in the past two years. >> that's jonathan who claimed today an aggressive education campaign here on campus has reduced the rate of binge drinking and wild behavior by 20%. he is clearly frustrated that even that has not been enough to prevent this tragedy. reporting live at frostburg state university, scott broom, 9news now. >> voters head to the polls in virginia and maryland tomorrow. in the commonwealth, they'll be choosing everything from state delegates and senators to school board members and

sheriffs. most of the races in maryland are for county council seats or mayor. in virginia, the polls are open and in maryland, you can vote from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. new at 6:00, demolition crews wrapped up their work at the holly acres site in woodbridge. you may recall homes there flooded and condemned from the remnants of tropical storm lee. sky 9 flew over the site this morning and found plenty of debris still needs to be hauled away. but the condemned trailers are long gone. tens and thousands of connecticut are about to spend their tenth night in the dark. they lost power during that freak october snowstorm. their power company failed to meet last night's deadline to get most back online and it now appeared it be will wednesday before the lights come back on. can you imagine? 12 days from that freak storm. >> why? >> i know you are no expert on what is happening, but what could be taken so wrong? >> a will the of the cases,

what we had when we had the hurricane here, the polls to be replaced and you can't go and stick a pole in. you have to get a truck out there. and 800,000 people lost power in connecticut alone. >> a lot of people. >> and the leaves and the trees, the snow, it was a recipe for a disaster. when a fantastic day for us. 67 degrees with sunshine, light winds, that's tough to beat. let's start with the satellite picture radar combined. right now, they are rocking and rolling with severe weather in oklahoma and kansas. and a little irony here, because i think tomorrow in west kansas. that's going to change to snow as colder air moves in behind the storm system. in the meantime, tornado watches throughout much of south western oklahoma and big storms really pushing through oklahoma city all the way into kansas city. by the time that storm gets here, it's not going to have that potent activity for us. it will change our pattern. this is what could be a tropical depression or tropical

storm the next couple of days. national hurricane center is watching that. it is southwest of bermuda. and for us, we are looking at clear skies, again, temperatures are going to fall. the sun has been down for a little while, but not as fast as they did on saturday night or sunday night. 53 still in bethesda. 58 in rockville and 54 in springfield. 50 toward reston. so, it is still going to be great. chilly tonight, a chilly start tomorrow. a little bit of patchy fog. i don't see a commuter issue with it. and mild through thursday before that front changes things. all right, for tonight, clear and chilly. 34 to 44. not too bad. winds light. temperatures for lows inside the beltway in the low 40s and outside in the mid 30s, which is a far cry from the 20s. 34 in gaithersburg. 35 in reston. 36 in bowie. now tomorrow morning, pure sunshine. patchy fog early. need a jacket and shades. you'll end up carrying the

jacket in the day. 30s and 40s. by afternoon, mostly sunny, just spectacular again. need those shades. temperatures 65 to 70 with light winds. next seven days. still warm on wednesday. a few clouds late. and frontal system out in the plain states. we'll throw a few showers. doesn't seem to be a lot of activity. in the wake of the front, however, it will be chilly. we will struggle to get to 50 on veterans day and a weekend looks like a nice weekend in november. okay, a little chilly. back up to 60 on sunday. and back in the mid 60s by next monday. >> pretty sweet for this time of year. >> very sweet. like honey. >> all right, we're going to take a quick break and come back with, well, you know, what happened to the redskins over the weekend? we'll be back. usually after a redskins win, they get to take the following monday off. they call it victory monday. there hasn't been one of those in over a month in ashburn, since the redskins lost their last four straight games. things are not looking promising. right now, the redskins offense ranks 27th in the league. those five teams that are behind them include the rams, browns, and the winless colts. not much to hang your hat on.

but mike shanahan said he has seen improvement from his team. i'm wondering if we're watching the same game. >> i have been pleased with the effort we had. obviously not pleased with the execution. we are learning and part of that is sometimes you have to go through learning experiences. we are trying to get as good as we can as fast as we can. >> here's a look at how the redskins have faired as john beck as quarterback. the numbers not good. the offense ranked last in the league just 10.3 points a league. last in rushing yards with 57 in a game. mike shanahan refuses to use the word rebuilding, but from the looks of it, that's where they stand. and yesterday's game, rookies leanard hankerson and offensive lineman, maurice all got their first nfl start. shanahan says it's because the starters are all injured and the back ups just happen to be the young guys. >> they drafted a will the of guys this year. they moved guys up, like

myself, to be in the starting position. we have to perform right now and we aren't performing. >> we were 31st in the league last year. so you know, it's not right for us to jump down their backs. >> tackled jamal brown injured his right groin yesterday. he doesn't know how long he'll be out at this point and paul out a couple weeks. all right, the washington capitals didn't fair so well st weekend. they easily won game one, but squandered a two-goal lead. as the back to back games in the energy it takes took its toll on them. one player did get rewarded for his good play. nicholas was named nhl's third star of the week. returned to the ice today in full practice for the first time since he sprained his ankle in a game october 22. good news for them, but he still probably won't play when the caps face them, but he'll be back soon enough. time to reveal the game of the
