know who this woman is. >> reporter: but he thinks he knows where she comes from. >> a democrat machine in america has brought forth a troubled woman to make false accusations. >> reporter: his campaign questioned her crey releasing a letter detailing her history of bankruptcies and lawsuits. they confirmed tuesday she is one of the women who took money from the national restaurant association in exchange for agreeing not to talk about her allegations of sexual harassment against cain when they both worked there. as reporters staked out her home, she told cbs news the whole situation is so volatile right now i don't want to say anymore. but as anita says, she is quoted as telling several other news organizations say she would like to have a press conference with all of the women making accusations and take a part of that. she is a registered democrat but has also donated to republicans.

the sex abuse scandal that has enveloped penn state university is literally sending shock waves across the nation, including right here in dc. our ken molestina spoke to some penn state alumni tonight. ken, what are they saying. >> reporter: they're shocked and full of disbelief. this is one scandal that really just continues to grow by the minute as we learn more details about the allegations. tonight penn state graduates to the together with the details of the scandal. these days penn state fans have little to cheer about. >> alumni everywhere are just really saddened and shocked to hear about the allegation. >> reporter: the mood at tuesday night's event was one laced with confusion and disbelief. after allegations that jerry sandusky sexually abused young boys for years. allegations that were report ed low known to officials who did -- reportedly known to officials

who did nothing about it. as for the head coach joe paterno arrived at his home late tuesday to a large crowd of supporters. although he hasn't been charged or implicated in the abuse, reports say he did have knowledge of the allegations and did little about it. he shared a brief comment with the scores who gathered at his house. >> let god bless every single one of you. >> reporter: those familiar with the allegations are speaking out. troy craig who participated in football camps. >> he put his hand on my thigh and he would just keep it there. sometimes there would be a squeeze. >> reporter: craig says he wasn't abused but exposed to behavior that raised red flags for him. >> we can't jump to conclusions and we need to let the system do what it should do. >> reporter: there has been talk all day today that joe paterno, the most winning coach

in all of division 1 college football history could be stepping down as a result of this scandal. now, just a couple of minutes ago, a wire came through on wednesday, tomorrow, trustees at the university are scheduled to meet to form a committee that will further investigate all of these claims. we will, of course, keep an eye on all of those developments and bring you the details as we get them. back to you. >> shock waves indeed. thanks, ken. election results now pouring in from virginia and maryland and we'll begin in the commonwealth where control of the state senate actually hangs in the balance. >> let's start virginia state senate which includes loudoun and prince williams. we have richard black. he has 56% of the vote. j shawn mitchell 43%. in district 30 it's timothy mcgee.

mcgee 33%. it includes alexandria and fairfax county. then we go to district 31. two women here. this covers loudoun, fairfax and montgomery county. merrick has lived in virginia for more than two decades. 40% of the vote. 60% with favola who has been a member of the board since '97. now to district 37. we are looking at -- which includes parts of fairfax county. this is republican jason flannery against democrat dave marsden. marsden with 54% of the vote. very close there in district 37. and on to district 39 republican m miller baker against the en cumbent democrat george lincoln barker. george lincoln barker handingly

winning this. 76% to 24%. again, he is the incumbent there in that area which covers parts of the city of alexandria, fairfax and prince william county. all right. now to the virginia house of delegates, the district number ten republican randy minchew against democrat david butler. the republican minchew ahead 60-40%. in district number 87 it's republican david ramadan against mike kondatxtck. now, to fairfax county. school board elections were on the ballot there as well. megan mclaughlin against knell hurley right now with 70% reporting. mclaughlin is winning 60% to 40%. then it's pat hines against

nancy lenton. 57% to 43% over nancy lenton. we move on to the dranesville district where its jane strauss versus louise epstein. 49% for epstein. >> this is all within the fairfax county school board. this is mount vernon district. michelle nellenbach against daniel storck. 60% for storck. and for the springfield district, john wittman against elizabeth schultz. elizabeth schultz 59%. 67% of the precincts reporting. just over two-thirds there in the springfield district. and then we move on to kathy

smith against sheila ratnam. that is 55% to 45%. and now we're going to talk about fairfax county school board at large. we're talking about lynne kendall against ryan mixt celveen. -- mcelveen. 18% to 17%. you can imagine how close that race is. again, this is fairfax county school board at large. 61% of precincts reporting. you can see other election results at the bottom of your screen throughout the newscast. now to ohio where voters have turned aside a law that would have limited the ability of 350,000 unionized government workers to engage in collective bargaining. the effort to veto the bargaining loss at the ballot

box had representatives facing off against republicans at the state house pushing to reduce the cost of government. that now allows bargaining on conditions but it outlaws public worker strikes and prevents promotions based solely on seniority. again, the voters have turned that law aside. now to mississippi, the fight over abortion rights escalating to a whole new level this evening as voters considered an amendment to their state constitution that says the term person will be defined to include every human being from the moment of fertilization. tonight voters rejected the measure soundly with 57% voting no. opponents say the measure could have deterred physicians from performing in vitro fertilization because they might fear charges if an embryo doesn't survive. here is another question. do criminals have privacy rights too. the feds say they were able to follow antuan jones who then led

police to a stash of drugs and weapons. today the supreme court justices heard arguments from both sides on whether police violated his constitutional guarantee against unreasonable search and seizure. >> police without his knowledge and without his consent installed a device on his car which would be a criminal trespass. >> we're not saying don't use a gps. we're saying if you're going to use it, get a warrant. >> now, attorneys for the justice department argue to the high court that antuan jones was using public streets and therefore had no expectation of privacy. and they say they could have gotten the same results as they did with the gps by just watching and following him. tonight dc police are stepping up patrols to avoid a repeat of friday's confrontation with some occupy dc protestors. today the department increased the number of officers and cruisers and on horseback. this last week things spiraled out of control in front of the convention center when some demonstrators tried to block

people from leaving a conservative event in the building. today they released this video showing a police officer allegedly retaliating. >> we're not stepping up our game. i think that the police are stepping up their game. the police are showing their true colors. they didn't know what to do with us at first, and now they're bringing out the horses. >> the police will not say exactly what their plan is, but we're told tactics have changed and there will be a stricter adherence to rules since people have been injured. a stabbing in hyattsville led to a major drug bust. $500,000 worth of pot. police say dean roy thomas stabbed a man in a recording studio. when officers got there to arrest thomas, canine dogs sniffed something. it turns out it was marijuana. they found 58 pounds of pot along with three handguns inside the building. >> actually tends to give you a

headache if you stand in the room for too long. >> police will hold on to the marijuana for about six months until the case goes to court. then it will be destroyed in an incinerator. as for the victim who was stabbed, he is expected to recover. thomas now being held without bond. well, for golfers, there is just nothing more pleasing than the sound of clubs hitting a couple of these bad boys. but for members of a church in fairfax, that sound actually in stills fear. you see, the faith evangelical presbyterian church is located on the other side of the top gulf driving range, and the church's property is being pelted by these golf balls. in fact, over the last year alone, he's found more than 2600 golf balls on their property. top. >> many car windows have been smashed. >> our staff was with really the fear of being hit by a golf ball any time they come through here or having the car damaged.

the capitals have been hot to start the season. just three losses and undefeated at home. but as i said earlier tonight, if there was any team that could change that, it would be the dallas stars. they have been on fire lately. tonight they were just too much for the caps. michael getting the start in goal. not his best game. caps able to tie things up at two in the second period. john carlson with a quick goal off the faceoff. but then the wheels fell off for the caps. the stars got three goals past newvie. the caps defense is pretty much non-existent as the stars handed the caps their first home loss. >> this group can be so good.
