says he is innocent. several news outlets in philadelphia are report that two cinder blocks were thrown through a window at his home this afternoon. nobody was hurt. and after incidents like that and the wednesday night riots, state college and campus police have stepped up their security. >> i'm scott broom at penn state university, where a highly charged emotional weekend is now underway as 100,000 fans are coming into town in the wake of the firing of joe paterno and and there are security concerns. overnight this city was swarming with state and local officers on horseback in cars and on foot, prepared to put down any more disturbance like the one wednesday night that came with word that coach joe paterno was fired. >> the emotions run the gamut from anger to disbelief. you mix that in with 150,000 people coming to town and 45,000 students, and you mix that with alcohol, and you have a real dicey problem sometimes in trying to deal with all

those issues. >> police are also on guard against threats made against mike mcqueary. that incident now at the heart of this crisis at penn state. he will not be at the game because of the threats. national catchers wilson ramos still missing more than 36 hours after he was abducted in venezuela. and tonight folks gathered outside nats park, showing solidarity for number 3. it was coordinated by the fans, they want to send a message of hope to the ramos family. >> this basically is we just want to show this family and hopefully one day when he has brought home safely he can look back on this and maybe see that people here love him and support him. >> all you can do is pray and hope that they'll come to their senses and release him. >> and investigators believe more people other than just the

four gunmen we previously reported were involved this all this, police have gathered several pieces of evidence and have sketches of two suspects, but they're not releasing any further information. all across the country americans took a pause on veterans' day to remember those who fight and have fought for the red, white and blue. president obama honored our service men and women in the ceremony at arlington national cemetery. the president laid a wreath on the tomb of the unknowns and then thanked all of american veterans. >> you are part of an unbroken chain of men and women who have served this country with honor and distinction. on behalf of a proud and grateful nation, we thank you. >> the president was off to california, shortly after that ceremony, where he will be attending the first ever carrier classic, a college basketball game played on the flight deck of the uss carl vinson. on this veterans' day,

today a very special group of veterans got quite a gift for veterans' day, a trip to the saluted to the troops weekend in vegas. those service men and women were from walter reed naval center, and american airlines teamed up with the mgm and uso to host the warriors and their families for this event. they flew out of reagan national this morning and will have a weekend packed with all

sorts of entertainment, sightseeing, a lot more fun. we love vegas and we off our troops so that's why we've teamed up with the uso to provide christmas and thanksgiving food baskets to military families, all right here in our area. and each and every penny that you give helps out these service men's some call this number. i'll just share but some totals now. we have raised a good bit of money but industrial a good ways to go. we're up over $50,000. got enough money for 1100 food baskets. but 1400 folks have registered, and are hoping for one of these baskets. someone who knows a lot about this issue, crystal benton, with the uso of metropolitan washington. talk about how much the need has grown. >> three years ago when we did this program, we had 150 families participating. and we've seen the program grow since then, and as you mentioned this year we're at 1400 families who have asked

for support during this holiday season. so we're hoping to meet that goal today. and serve all of those military families. >> you cut off the registration at 14. you probably could have done a lot more. >> i'm sure we would have had more interest. we had to cap or registration at 1400. >> do you have stories from the folks who tell you why the need is so get? >> absolutely. wusa showed a great story earlier from the human family at fort bell. their daughter is going through leukemia treatment and just the cost of having a seriously ill child with single income military family was a challenge for them. and they were deciding between having thanksgiving or just hoping the girls wouldn't notice they didn't do that celebration and they came to the uso, they participated in turkeys for troops and had a great thanksgiving and they're one of families who will benefits this year as well. >> and one of many families we hope our viewers will help provide thanksgiving and holiday dinner so call us now. the number is at the bottom your screen.

leesburg. even 39 up in gaithersburg and frederick. we factor in the wind, feels like it's 34 in frederick, 34 in gaithersburg and even downtown feels like it's 41. so going out tonight, it will be a nice friday night. bundle up. but milder weekend, yes cold for high school football. cold for saturday. but then breezy and mild. clouds sunday but did are not ruin the day. still a relatively mild day and dry. clear and cold tonight. winds diminish late. two-been debt night. lows in the 30s. winds will turn southwest at 10, after midnight. those southwest wind will increase tomorrow but that's milder wind. sunny, breezy with a cold start. you need a coat. 30s and 40s, winds now southwest at 10 to 20. and by afternoon, a great day. mostly sunny, still breezy but milder, high temperatures near 60. that's southwest wind will drive in some milder air for us pretty much across the region. in fact i think oakland who held in the 30s today with snowshowers this morning, he should top at 50 tomorrow.

54 in cumberland with sunshine. mid-50s in hagerstown. winchester 57. warmest spot on this map culpeper 60. upper 50s for warrenton, leesburg, and also fairfax. downtown maybe not quite 60 but close. you're flirting with it. and if you're down into southern maryland you'll be around 60. but by the water in the upper 50s. small craft advisory posted. probably posted for sunday too. 30s to start with sunshine. 50 to 55. breezy at noon. then 52 to 57 by evening. generally clear skies. the next three days, clouds come in on sunday, keeps temps around 60. but still a pretty good day. milder on monday. we're in the mid-60s with some showers possible by nightfall. now let's talk about the next seven days. showers roll in tuesday, with some rain. temps are nice in the low 60s. and then behind the front, not crazy cool. i mean, temps are still 60 on
