. would you turn your child into the police if you saw them break the law? a sex crime at a fast food place raises difficult questions. also tonight, dc police finally release the report on what demolished these 11 vehicles. but an eyewitness says the report is just not true. oh, my god. okay. >> plus newly released audio tapes of jack and lesli johnson conspiring to hide bribe money. this is 9news now. >> jack johnson and lesli as you have never heard them before. they released the incredible wire tap just before jack was arrested last year.

>> a conversation filled with sounds of the fbi knocking at the johnson's front door and a toilet flushing away from the money from the bribe. you just can't make this stuff up. matt jablow has details. >> reporter: the call was made at 10:12 in the morning just before jack johnson was arrested. with fbi agents at the front door, a frantic leslie johnson calls her husband to ask him what to do. without hesitating, he tells her to find a $100,000 check that he had been given as a bribe. >> the box of liquor. >> yes. and look in the box. >> yes. there's a check in there. what do you want me to do with the check? do you hear them banging. >> put the check -- tear it up. >> that's the fbi, jack. >> yes, i know. i know. that's why i'm telling you. >> you want me to put it down the toilet? >> yes. >> you want me to flush it? >> yes. flush that. >> reporter: with the check taken care of, there was then

the matter of $80,000 in cash, also bribe money and also hidden in the johnson's home. >> do you have the cash? >> uh-huh. >> what do you want me to do with this money? they are banging. what do you want me to do? >> put it in your panties and walk out of the house. >> no. but i mean all this cash, jack. >> put it -- >> i got the one -- >> but the it in your panties, lesli. >> oh, my god. okay. >> yes. stuff it in your panties. >> reporter: lesli johnson did as she was told stuffing the money into her bra and underwear before the agents burst into the house and arrested her. lesli to obstruction of justice. the johnsons are both scheduled to be sentenced in about a month. >> thank you. this one just in to 9news now information center. we're hearing from former penn state assistant coach jerry sandusky talking about the sex charges he faces in a phone interview with bob costos of nbc says he is not a pedophile. but he does admit to questionable behavior such as showering with boys. >> well, i could say that, you know, i have done some of those things. i have horsed around with kids. i have showered after workouts. i have hugged them and i have touched their leg. without intent of sexual contact. >> sandusky is free on bail of $100,000. it has been more than a week since 11 cars were destroyed by an erratic driver and now we finally get our first look at

the police report. >> but the police account is vastly different from the sole eyewitness who tells her story to delia gongalves. she joins us live. >> reporter: the wrecked cars are gone but imagine the devastation when neighbors stepped out of their doors and saw about every -- nearly every car on this street demolished. well, residents say the reports that they were initially told was rejected. well now it's wrong. >> something is going on. >> reporter: angela tucker says this police report just doesn't add up. >> the report is just so off. i mean, when i read it, i'm thinking i'm reading about another accident. >> reporter: and she should know. this is her car. tucker was about to park her suv on euclid street around 2:30 on friday morning when police say 21-year-old brandon rollins smashed a jeep cherokee into 11 parked cars. >> he went airborne coming across 11th street. >> reporter: and what happened next is incredible. the suspect drove up on to this

car, bounced off the hood of tucker's suv and then landed on another. >> he looked me right in the eyes and i think he did that because he wanted to make such he didn't kill me. >> reporter: and then the suspect took off running. but a 21-year-old female passenger stayed on the scene. >> i don't know if it was because she was freaked out, but she kind of staggered going up to the street. the police officers made her sit down. >> reporter: several residents have repeatedly told 9news now the crash was the result of a police chase, a claim police adamantly deny. but tonight tucker showed us this picture of a lone police cruiser on the scene with no police tape or the additional cruisers that eventually responded. how soon were police here? >> seconds. i didn't see -- i didn't hear any sirens. all i know is that that suv was going very fast. a lot of questions unanswered. like where is this guy? they have a name, they have an address, where is he? >> reporter: well, they do have

a name. they do have an address. and they have, they tell us, issued an arrest warrant for that young man. they won't tell us much more beyond that, though. a spokesperson refused to answer my questions citing the ongoing investigation. she later released a statement simply saying "npd was not chasing this vehicle prior to the crash". derek and anita. >> all right. thank you. well, new at 11:00, right now police working the scene of a deadly accident. this one happened around 7:00. prince george's county police believe an suv hit someone and killed them. no word yet if anybody else was hurt. the roads all around the accident have now been reopened. turn in your kid or help them avoid arrest and punishment? an ohio case of a 13-year-old charged with rape is raising this tough issue this week. gary nurenberg reports parents have different answers to that very troubling question. >> reporter:

police believed 16-year-old sams inbien killed and dismembered a man in 1997. >> this was actually has been called a thrill kill. they killed him for the mere pleasure of it. >> reporter: they helped him escape to israel for lessen penalties. when this ohio's 13-year-old family recognized him on video this month, they turned him in and he faces rape charges. so you're a parent and you recognize the child. you have an obligation to protect on the video but still understand you have an obligation to the community too. what do you do? >> it's hard. you just have to be a parent but you also have to be a citizen at the same time. >> reporter: so do you turn them in? >> yes. >> reporter: what are you going to do, take him home and hide him in the basement and hope that nothing happens? >> it's awful, but i think there is just so many layers to it and i think this child probably needs a lot of help too. >> as a parent, it would be

really tough for me to turn in my kid. but as a human, i really think it's something that needs to be done. >> it's bad on the child and dad. they try to pick up your child. it would be more embarrassing. things are a little more complicated that way. >> there is no right answer to it. it's your kid and also someone else's kid. so that's a tough one. >> if you protect them, what are they going to become? it would be something a lot worse. that's my opinion. i'm out of here. >> reporter: the 13-year-old said over the weekend he is not guilty. trial next week. the montgomery county murderer who escaped to israel will be eligible for parole in less than two years. >> as you can imagine, the story has been getting a lot of attention on twitter and facebook page. i'm looking at a few of the comments. joe an posted i would hope all parents would do the same and turn their child in. at least they have the god-given

sense to do so. i'm sure it had to be hard, but not as hard as it is on the poor 5-year-old. >> katherine posted i had a son turning 11 and i can't imagine. however, take a step back and look outside the box. two children in voflted. where does the problem come from -- involved. where does the problem come from. post your thoughts if you want to get into the conversation. tonight this man wanted by the feds to his long criminal history. police believe he is the one that fired the shots near the white house last friday. now they need your help to find him. the 21-year-old crashed his car near the ramp towards the roosevelt bridge before he disappeared into the night last week. they did find a semiautomatic rifle in his truck along with shell casings. he has distinctive tattoos, including the world israel on the left side of his neck. >> i'm not sure what his mental history is, but i think this is a man who just charged rifle in

downtown dc. i think that speaks volumes. >> an hours before that shooting, it turns out arlington police had questioned him outside a vacant home in north arlington where a neighbor had reported that he was acting suspiciously. tonight neighbors in anacostia are saying this is the last thing we need around here. the owner of a popular restaurant busted. natasha dasher of the uniontown bar and grill charged with operating a major narcotics ring. they seized cocaine and $1.5 million in cash at the office. it's a big blow to dasher who hosted so many events, and running only the second sit down restaurant in anacostia. >> it was a true bee con in terms of what -- beacon in terms of what it could be in anacostia. >> it's a blow because it makes it seem this is the type of things that happen over here. >> and tonight dasher or her

unfortunately when you allow everyone's voice to be involved, sometimes you allow everyone's voice to be involved. which means people who are activist for the sake of being activist versus people who actually believe in what they're standing behind. >> tonight occupy camps in portland, oregon are no more. they shut it down for unhealthy addictions. in oakland, california police cleared the protestors after a

resent murder. those who refused to leave had to be taken away in handcuffs. however, in philadelphia they're still standing. unsanitary conditions and lack of -- decision delayed. the fairfax county school says it will vote in december on whether to put cameras in the high school. the ideas of surveillance cameras in school common areas and cafeterias come after several food fights broke out last year. the board members say it's up to them to make the decision. not the new board which will have five new members. >> as principals of the very large schools, we're responsible for the safety and well-being of all of our students. in our case 4,000 students here at robinson. it's my professional opinion and that of my colleagues that surveillance cameras would help. >> is this what fairfax county has said this is our priority for education. >> incoming board members say

they want the outgoing board to leave the decision to the new members once they are in. so fairfax county is ready to spend almost a million bucks to put cameras in the school cafeterias. tonight derek says there are place dz where the need for a -- places where the need for a public view is far more urgent. >> so they want to put the kibosh on food fights. remember the lululemon trial? no. you remember us telling you about it. maryland law doesn't allow for cameras in criminal court. near do the rules in dc. well, bill hennessey here is a great courtroom artist. but here is a snapshot of what we saw from another recent controversial trial. that is conrad murphy in the death of michael jackson or how about this lady? remember her. no matter what you thought about the verdicts in those trials, if you wanted to, you saw the evidence, the defendant's reactions, everything. was the process fair? hey, you got to decide.

that's what a public trial is all about. and in 2011, is it really public if you have to show up there to see it? now, i know, i know, everybody remembers the oj trial. if it doesn't fit, you must acquit. judge edo and the whole media circus, et cetera. except that was 16 years ago. now this is reality tv america. caught on tape is part of your daily vocabulary. and, besides, judges always have the ability to ban the cameras if they think there is a good reason to do so. i'm just arguing that there really ought to be a good reason for the public not to see a trial. because, let's be real, if the trial of the 19th century looked about like this, the trial of the 21st century ought not to. anita. >> thank you, derek. tonight health's alert is about risky research that seems to be paying off big using stem cell to heal the heart. ken mills was patient number one in a clinical trial of just 25 at cedar-sinai heart institute

in la. he had a devastating heart attack at age 39 which left his heart muscles severely scarred. the doctor used a catheter with snip healthy tissue from miles's heart and they coaxed millions of stem cells from the good tissue and then injected them back into the damaged area. >> now we have completed the study and we have outstanding results that are very encouraging to us. >> it's like someone gave me a magic pill. i felt better all over suddenly. it's science fiction basically to me. that's what it feels like. >> but it is very real. all the volunteers who got the stem cell therapy had their heart attack scars get smaller. most by an average of 50%. and ken mills no longer has any pain or shortness of breath. doctors say this now has to be replicated at other medical centers and more people over the next couple of years. but to say it looks promising is an understatement. isn't that neat? >> very cool.
