ago, we saw a half a dozen park police officers. for the first time standing inside the park side by side with a protesters during what they call the general assembly. that's when they all get together and talk about their action for the night. then, they were all escorted os the protesters marched down to the white house for demonstration. derek. >> delia, thank you. the dozens of protesters are marching from new york down here to d.c. they left the park last wednesday and hoping to make it down to mcpheer son square by next wednesday. right now, they are in philly where they paid a visit to the campus. they have been in the city of brotherly love since sunday, taking a break, because the walking is tough. lesli. >> all the talk in our newsroom today was about jersey sandusky's first interview since being accused of sexually assaulting eight boys over a 15 year span. >> i enjoy young people. i love to be around them.

i -- no, i'm not sexually attracted to young boys. >> andrea mckaren spoke, getting them to weigh in about this. what are you hearing? >> very interesting perspective. like the rest of us, jaycee, derek doesn't know if the former coach is guilty or innocent. but he says all the classic warning signs are there. including the coverup and secrecy. >> it's an issue that never goes away. >> j.c. derek was sexually abused by a relative. he broke his silence and watched last night's shocking interview with sandusky. >> i have done some of those things. i have horsed around with kids. i have showered after workouts. i have hugged them and i have touched their leg. without intent of sexual contact.

then married her. they had two children before they eventually divorced. anita. lesli, athletes at the university of maryland may tell opponents to fear the hurdle. tonight they find themselves in fear of budget cuts. >> i'm scott broom at the university of maryland where the athletic's department is hemorrhaging money and where a commission has just recommended cutting eight varsity sports, including swimming and track and field. all 50 of the university of maryland swimming and diving team members converged on the administration building this afternoon prepared to beg to save their team. >> it's just devastating. we worked so hard and came so far. >> track and field runners, men's tennis players and tumbling team members are among the eight varsity teams recommended for elimination to save up to $5 million a year. university athletics are hemorrhaging money with moneymakers like football struggling under new coach randy, and men's basketball looking for a return to glory

weather. what they found is these tiny birds can shake their heads at 34g's in less than a tenth of a second. similar to the way a dog would shake when it's wet, just a whole lot faster. human beings lose consciousness at 5g's. wow. you can call it the pizza loophole. congress may decide that tomato paste on a pizza counts as a serve ing of a vegetable. they want to make school lunches healthier, but congress says they are resisting. the deal is, if enough lawmakers agree, the lunch lady will pile on the salt, push those whole grains away. even retired generals are pretty upset about this. one in four young people are too big to join the military. and they are hoping that congress will reconsider. the holidays fast approaching and montgomery county police warn a pair of

later. toys r us opens at 9:00 thursday night, but there's a growing backlash against the late night openings. >> i have to be up here to get my stuff. >> target wants monique's business so bad, it's opening at midnight instead of 5:00 in the morning like it has in the past. >> michael hamilton is not alone. more than 85,000 people have signed an online petition through change.org, requesting that target remain closed until 5:00 in the morning so employees can spend thanksgiving day with their families and still be able to rest up for black friday. >> in general, a lot of people come out anyway. there's no point in opening earlier. >> the companies are competing for the biggest slice of black friday pie worth $11 billion. >> a target spokeswoman says the reason stores are opening at midnight is because it's what customers want and as long

with cleanup. money to repair or replace what lee damaged. >> so many people in apartments don't have rental insurance. they don't have resources to replace all that stuff. >> yesterday we were 72. 73. we were talking about tornado watches. well check out this damage. this is from southern indiana. kind of neither kentucky border. they had a tornado go through. they estimated winds of 95 miles per hour. knocked down several trees and caused significant damage to the town square. and the good news is, don't see any injuries. took a narrow path, about 25 yards west, but knocked down street signs and some other things. here's the deal. it's a 61st tornado to hit the area this year. that's a record for them. for us, still mild today. you know, any time it's in the 70s in november, one thought goes, we could see severe weather here? not for us. that said, we may hear the rumble of thunder.

here's where all the showers and thunderstorms are lining up. back into kentucky and tennessee. and they are getting a little closer to us. they were up here in this area yesterday. haven't moved very far. and until that front sinks further south, we are looking at light showers tonight. that's going to be the trend. want to take a walk tonight, you can. i would bring the umbrella, but nothing heavy until after midnight, unless you are west of cumberland, there will be showers throughout the evening. here's a look at live doppler. some showers showing up. south of fredericksburg and laplata and southern sections of prince georges county. up toward hagerstown. they are on the light side. temperatures are great. they are 10 degrees cooler, but above average. 61 arlington. 63 college park. 61 in beltsville. looking at 60 in springfield. i would locate the umbrella and bring it with you. don't leave home without it.
