mandatory across the board federal cuts of 1.2 trillion kick in. they'll be equally divided between defense and non-defense. >> washington will be the hardest hit. we're talking about a 10% reduction in the government's discretionary spend, 10% of all of of the money that the government is available to make choices about how it will spend is going to go away. >> reporter: he is the founder of the emex group. they do about a billion a year with the feds is thinking about what the automatic cuts would mean. >> civilians would be furloughed and services contractors will be tapered off. dod is talking about severe civilian cuts as well as cutting a couple, two or three, weapon systems. >> reporter: and it's easy to know what that means for workers who build them. and that's at 1.2 trillion. 30 senators and house members,

republican and democrats held a meeting today urging the committee to go big looking for 4 trillion in cuts. the pain of that to the washington economy, do the math. derek. >> well, thank you, gary. new at 11:00, trouble surfing the net. customers all across fairfax county, some down in fredericksburg as well are complaining they can't access their internet. cox communications say it's a problem with one of the servers and it's affecting companies nationwide. you might be able to fix it. unplug your modem for two minutes and restart it. finally in custody tonight, a guy who is perhaps one of the most wanted men in the world for the past few days. wanted for allegedly firing bullets at the white house. >> including the upstairs living quarters. >> police have arrested suspect and matt jablow joins us from near the white house. >> reporter: the suspect was allegedly driving his car here on constitution when he started shooting at the white house in the distance. tonight he's behind bars but serious questions remain about

the way the entire incident was handled. five days after shots rang out, about 800 yards from the white house, the man who allegedly pulled the trigger is now in custody. >> state police personnel responded to the hampton inn. oscar ortega hernandez was arrested by police right around noon today at a hotel near indiana, pennsylvania. about 200 miles northwest of washington. >> mr. ortega hernandez did not resist. >> he was not armed. >> reporter: the 21-year-old ortega hernandez is believed to be from idaho but apparently came to the dc area in the past few weeks. he is said to have a history of mental illness and a criminal record that includes assaulting a police officer. this man who recently met ortega hernandez says the alleged white house shooter compared president obama to the anti-christ. >> he seemed very sincere in what he believed. but he did seem rather troubled. >> reporter: the arrest of ortega hernandez came on the

same day that the secret service says they found a bullet that shattered a white house window but was then stopped by bulletproof glass. another bullet was found on the white house grounds. tests are now being done to determine if the bullets came from the assault rifle found in ortega hernandez's car which police say he abandoned immediately after the shooting. >> the white house is a knock out for all of these nuts who want to kill the president. >> reporter: an author wrote a book about the secret service. despite the fact that a gunman was able to get off a few shots at the white house and that it took several days to then locate the bullets, he can't fault the secret service for their performance. >> it took awhile too put it all together and i think the secret service has done a good job. >> reporter: perhaps. but tonight some people still wandering why it took the see -- wondering why it took the secret service so long to figure out a white house window had been shattered by the bullet and why the public was not notified

earlier. ortega hernandez will make his first court appearance tomorrow in pittsburgh. derek and anita. >> all right, matt. she was only 18 years old, just starting her first year of college. but tonight jane wang is dead. virginia police state says she was crossing the street on campus when a city bus came around the crossing and hit her. she died at the scene. she had crossed against the signal and they are not charging the bus driver. meanwhile, dc is leading the country in deadly hit and runs. according to triple a from 2,000-2009, there were 76 fatal accidents in the district that involved a driver who left the scene. virginia had 217 people die during the same ten years. maryland had 279. nationwide, hit and run drivers killed 16,382 people during that

acid, you could become very ill from that, possibly have a fatal complication. >> reporter: us customs are seizing mail. in 2010, agents nabbed 330 shipments of fake erectile function drugs. so far this year, the number stands at 1200. >> a lot of these drugs are ordered over the internet from what appear to be legitimate pharmacies and are shipped directly to patients. >> reporter: can you tell which viagra tablets here are real? the ones on the right are authentic. the fakes are on the left. sometimes knock offs look so convincing even drug companies have to take a closer look. >> we can't tell quite often until we actually get in our lab and test the chemical. >> reporter: when investigators from pfizer pharmaceuticals, the maker of viagra, ordered their popular little blue pill from 26 online pharmacies, 81% of the pills turned out to be fake. >> a counterfeiter is nobody looking to see how he's making

his product. >> reporter: experts say the best way to protect yourself is to go the traditional pharmacy route. but if you insist ongoing online, make sure you buy from a website that has this blue oval vipps seal of approval and confirm it's on the national pharmacy list of approved pharmacies. >> okay. so if you think you may have bought some of this counterfeit stuff, contact the company that makes the drug you intended to order, like pfizer. they may test the pill for you. you should also contact your doctor and report it to the fda. we put a link on our website with information on just how to do that. there is also info on how to check if an online pharmacy is accredited. all of that at wusa9.com. sexual explicit, even violent photos have been spreading like wildfire all across social media. now, the hackers make it look like those disturbing images are coming from your friends, but it's really just part of their plan to attack your computer. facebook has seen a slew of

graphic pictures like this one of pop star justin beeber. the company is taking most of the photos down, but web experts say if you see any sort of graphic photo, report it to facebook. >> reporting it to facebook doesn't get the user in trouble. what it does is it allows facebook to take action on the vulnerability that was exploited. and that's exactly what facebook did here. once they knew the problem, they knew exactly how to fix it. >> now facebook also recommends updating your browser. if you don't recognize the link, do not click it. well, love them or hate them. wal-mart is coming to dc. and they're coming big time. the company announced plans to open six stores all over town. that is two more than they had been talking about. here are the locations. georgia and missouri avenues. rigs road and south dakota. new york avenue, new jersey avenue northwest, east capitol and 58th street and good hope road at alabama avenue in southeast. and that final location could be a god send for a part of town

where unemployment can run as high as 20%. >> the way i feel is there ain't no job, families break up. >> now, wal-mart says the six stores will create 600 new construction jobs, not to mention the 1800 brand new retail jobs. that in a city where 35,000 people are currently out of work. the metrorail extension plan to dulles airport crosses another big hurdle today. the metropolitan washington airport authority took a crucial funding vote clearing the line that will run from falls church to route 67 in loudoun county. they voted in favor of the agreement for phase two of the project. now, the cost of it self has been brought down a billion dollars to 2.8 billion. fairfax and loudoun will also be able to use federal credit assistance to build parking facilities for all of this, and the air force authority will also be able to tap into as much as 250 million in funding which will help bring down tolls at

the start. >> it's easy for different people to throw stones and make us the people who are raising the tolls. we didn't set this formula in place. we are committed to continue to get funds and we will through the project. we are committed to bring down the tolls. >> the fairfax county board of supervisors is scheduled to vote on the agreement december 6th, and it is expected to pass since the county's executive has already given his thumbs up. the transportation security administration has just turned ten, and what did tsa get? a nasty birthday card from republicans on the hill. a status report that calls it an ineffective loaded bureaucracy and taxpayers are footing the bill. >> americans have spent nearly $60 billion funding tsa and they are no safer today than they were before 9/11. >> the report says that in the past ten years, the tsa has

brought to you by occupy protestors. the demonstrators will be marking the two month anniversary of the occupy wall street movement. in dc they plan to line the key bridge to spotlight the state of america's infrastructure. tonight they're hunkered down. in seattle there is still more outrage after officers used pepper spray on an 18-year-old pregnant woman and an 84-year-old activist. protestors are saying they're just getting warmed up. but the question remains warmed up for what. >> they sure know what they're mad about, corporate greed, wealth and equality and a system not working well for a lot of us. but ask the occupy types what they want to do about all of that stuff and the answers are less than satisfying. a spokesman told me there is no one left to ask. the occupation in and of itself is a demand. no, it's not.

it's more like a tantrum. we're all fired up. won't take no more. okay. what will you take? and if you don't specifically ask for what you want, how will you even know if you're getting it. and here is the thing, a lot of americans are sympathetic to your complaints. the whole 99% resonates with people. on the other hand, 99% of us have stuff to do, kids to raise. tearing down the whole system; not an option. because in the subway stops running and these folks here have to get to work. occupy wall street and the rest of us got america's attention. captured the growing rage of our middle class. and that is a victory. but if you want more, how do we get beyond camping out in the park? do you have any real ideas on how to fix this thing? like robert redford said at the end of the movie candidate after winning an election he had been guaranteed to lose, what do we do now. >> good question indeed. all right. thanks. deadly weather rolled across the southeast today. there were reports of several tornadoes touching down but none

have been confirmed. at least one person died after a storm rolled across georgia. a tree fell on top of an suv killing the victim. at least 16 other people have ben hurt across three states, but only a couple had to go to the hospital. the storm also damaged dozens of homes and buildings. it looks like a tornado did cause this damage. >> it looks like that. we actually he have tornado watches even at this hour. it's kind of weird for mid november. but we actually have something a little different to worry about. we're going to worry about some rain showers toll. we talked about that -- tomorrow. we talked about that. i have snowflakes in the forecast now. maybe down to the district line. let's start with radar. here we go. we'll look at a lot of moisture. one slug of moisture is moving away. okay. so we'll have a little bit of a respite before we see the next batch move in. and this is the activity that rolled through the evening hours and gave us the wet commute home. that is now pushing on out to sea. but we have more moisture growing out to the souts and the west -- south and the west, and that is going to gain intensity.

live doppler 9000 is pretty quiet across most of the metro area. a couple of light showers as you head north of 50 and a couple of light showers lingering in southern maryland. and those could actually stay there all night in southern maryland and the northern neck. temperatures are not cool. it's going to be kind of a weird day. because tomorrow the high temperature will be the midnight temperature which looks like it's going to be 54 or 53 degrees. but temps are going to fall pretty much essentially all day tomorrow. keep that in mind. when you quack out in the morning, it's -- walk out in the morning, it's not going to get warmer. 52 in culpeper, it is 37 across the divide but the cold air hasn't jumped the divide yet. it will as winds pick up overnight and cold air pours in overnight and tomorrow. here is the deal, you'll need a heavy coat and an umbrella is not a bad idea. another batch of rain is going to roll in between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. we could see some flakes fly and you'll see accumulating snow.

it will still be chilly on friday, but it will be sunny. bright but brisk. very cold for the high school football playoff games friday night. here is our future cast. in the morning at 5:30, notice all of the cloud cover in gray but the rain showers are south of us for a while. we get a break. then everything comes rolling back in here and by lunch time the blue indicates snow. i think this is overdone, but we're talking some snow in frederick and leesburg and gaithersburg and a mixture all the way down to bethesda and then rain shout and east. so don't -- south and east. so don't be surprised if you see wet snowflakes. it's going to roll through very quickly. see sunset and breaks by late in the evening. then we start to clear out and we head for really what will be one of our coldest nights so far thursday night and friday night. overnight cloudy, windy and colder. showers are tapering off. lows around 45. winds northwest at 10-20. now tomorrow morning, mostly cloudy, breezy and chilly. some showers possible. 40s and 50s. winds northwest at 10-20. then by afternoon this includes late, late morning, early
