on the bricks. this has gone incredibly calmly and peacefully and smoothly. and the police just got the all clear down here about 15 minutes ago. i don't know if you can see them, but they are headed back there around the city. the traffic if we come over here, you could actually check out the key bridge traffic. we can also take another shot from up on top of the side here and look right down the bridge and you can see that there is some traffic, but there is always traffic here at this hour. the traffic nightmare failed to materialize. they do feel like they made their point. >> occupy wall street. >> union members are marching together down k street and they are making the point that the streets famous lobbyists, they have too much power.

ridiculous. >> reporter: now a little temporary traffic jam right now as all the squad cars kind of pull out of the scene using their lights and sirens at times. my colleague is on the other side of the bridge. how did things look from your end? >> well bruce, quite similar to what you saw on your end of the bridge. now here in articlington, the 20 something protesters simply came up north. >> reporter: the small group of protesters from the occupy movement chanted and held signs as they walked on to the key bridge. >> tell me what it looks like. about halfway down the bridge,

they were greeted by a much larger group of protesters. they invited the occupy d. c. movement. the group of protesters gathered mostly on the north sidewalkway of the bridge as police stood guard. >> reporter: we checked with arlington police just a little bit ago. they said they had no reports of any incidents out here and no arrests. they claim to be a part of the 99%. only today, it seemed like 1% showed up. anita? >> ken ken, thank you. >> yes, certainly clearing up there. it seemed a bit earlier on in the afternoon when they were moving down into georgetown. now things are moving quite

slowly there. folks trying to make their way around the beltway are still going. heading south, really jammed up on the outer loop down here as well. back to you. >> thank you. things might have sizzled just a little bit. or at least 1,000 of them took to the streets today, right here at the place for the occupy movement where it got started. police say that they have already arrested more than 175 people along wall street. five police officers were also injured when somebody threw some sort of stinging liquid on them. dozens of people are making their way down here tonight. they started marching. for now they are on out here. their goal? to get to our area ahead of next week's super committee deadline. in the meantime, they are all on the super committee and they

have just six days left until the deadline comes. they have been tagged with cutting more than $1 trillion over the next ten years. the only thing they appear to be able to agree on, they are not making any pro-- progress. automatic cuts will kick in next week. here is a spending cut in the work right now. lawmakers have just voted to kill plans for building a high- speed train network. he asked for $53 billion over six years. tonight, republican lawmakers are claiming credit for putting the brakes on the program. well, metro's trains won't be running at any speed, high or low along with blue and yellow lines this weekend. and that is because crews, they will be doing the track work on out here, which means that the crystal city, the national airport and other road stations, they will all be closed. and that work is expected to run from 10:00 tomorrow night until the system opens up on monday.

now, don't forget tonight, we've got some work going along the southeast southwest freeway. the eastbounds will be closing here at 10:00 between pennsylvania avenue and 11th street. they will all be closed and they will work to install the new bridge works to continue until 5:00 in the morning. it is official, that the man suspected of firing the shots at the white house is now charged with trying to assassinate president obama. he is oscar orterga hernandez. police tracked him down in western pennsylvania at a hotel. he went before a judge today. no word yet on when they will be transferring him to d.c. police say that several bullets were fired at the white house including the upstairs living quarters. no one was hurt. a federal agent from articlington was in court today to face -- arlington was in court today facing second- degree murder. he killed a man in a mcdonald's in hawaii earlier this month. dede was in hawaii to help with security for the economic
