like most people charged with first degree murder, scott was being held without bond. >> the suspects are held with no bonds, while awaiting their actual trial date. >> reporter: until 10 days ago, that is. whether according to prince georges county police department, some type of clerical mistake led to scott being offered a $75,000 bond. >> whose fault is this? >> it looks like a clerical error possibly, through the court system. >> reporter: police say scott quickly put up $75,000 in cash and was released from custody. according to police, four days later, six days ago, the police department was notified of scott's released. prompting a nationwide search to find the killer and get him back behind bars. >> this individual has the capacity to flee the area. when the actual murder occurred he had fled and was located a few months later in las vegas.

>> reporter: police say given the charges against him frederick scott should possibly be considered armed and dangerous. they are urging anyone with any information about his whereabouts to call crime solvers at 1-866-411-tips. the state's attorney is investigating the circumstances that led to scott's release now. the chancellor of university california davis plans to meet with protesters today amid growing calls for her resignation. last friday cell phone video captured university police using pepper spray on seemingly peaceful demonstrators. they were using it on demonstrators sitting outside a college building. the two officers in question have been placed on administrative leave. it seems the occupy movement here in our region is costing dc taxpayers. occupy dc protesters have cost district taxpayers nearly $1 million over the past two months. the district has spent a little

more than $900,000 on police, trash, removal, traffic control and other costs. eleven people were arrested this weekend after they decided to occupy a city-owned building in downtown washington. the group began occupying the four story franklin school saturday. the abandoned historic building had served as a homeless shelter until 2008. the eight men and three women will each be charged with unlawful entry and could face up to a year in jail as well as a fine if they are convicted. dc mayor vincent gray is making more changes in his administration. pedro rivera moves in as the chief spokesman, replaces linda boyd who become a special assistant to the city's health director. and in another move, sheila bun will become mayor gray's new

deputy chief of star. most of the republican presidential candidates took the stage at an iowa church this weekend. they participated in a thanksgiving family forum to discuss the role of religious faith in public life. drew levenson has more. >> reporter: six of the republican presidential candidates shared a stage in iowa to talk about religion and how they would lead. >> i'll have to answer to god in the next world and that is a part i think of being president. when you take that oath, we are answerable to god. >> reporter: some candidates got emotional as they described how their faith helped them through personal struggles. for herman cain, it was his battle with cancer. >> walking out of that surgeon's office, after she had just told us stage 4, i said i wasn't going to do this. >> reporter: iowa holds its caucuss in about six weeks.

good morning, welcome back to 9news. a messy monday morning with light showers and fog in the area. >> per in the 50s, yesterday we got to 65 in the afternoon. it was okay in spite of a few showers in the afternoon. this morning we have some fog. that is where we are going to start. that is a problem on the north

side of washington. especially as you head to i-70. visibility is down to a quarter mile or less. quarter mile in cumberland, frederick, westminister. all those here. that thick fog here down a half mile in baltimore. three quarters of that will drop south. annapolis less than two. the bus stop forecast on this short school and short work week. this morning we have got the scattered showers drizzle and fog. more drizzle and fog than showers. temperatures they are mild in the 50s and the sunrise at 6:57. showers here. look at temperatures. slowly dropping off to 54 by 5:00 with the northeast wind between 5 and 10 miles per hour. we had the showers overnight. the batch of rain though has really pushed through most

areas now, except for south and east of town in calvert county. also on the eastern shore. we are looking at now pulling away from cam bridge. st. mary's county. mainly down toward a ridge there. the last little sprinkle in northern maryland. that is it for awhile, however keep the umbrellas handy for the next few days. richmond still in the 60s this morning. we get down to the low 50s. in plays like hagerstown, gaithersburg with the follow of the culpepper 57 degrees. officially 55, fog, calm winds, dew points 55. no surprise the air is saturated with the humidity at 100%. across the country two storms that we are really launching. you can see the moisture coming out of texas, flowing in our

direction. impressive storms. actually one here that is arguably a third storm here that is going to come into the northwest over the next day or so. you can see the moisture here in southern california. probably up to las vegas. another area of rain from east texas and oklahoma through arkansas. that is going to spread northeast. this is one of the reason we are going to stay unsettled here. a frontal boundary in the neighborhood. doesn't move very much but occasionally light showers will be coming with the warm air over the colder air. more showers tonight and into the day tuesday. then as this warm front heads this way. heavier rains out to the west. some of that could push through tuesday afternoon. as we head toward wednesday, here comes this front really kicking up the storms again by wednesday morning and eastern tennessee. this will cut across us wednesday. finally behind that, we will clear out for thanksgiving

give patients with als more time. the disease destroys the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to paralysis and eventual death. but a new study found the drug has slowed the disease in some patients. researchers are testing to see if the drug is effective enough to be approved by the fda. a new study says acupuncture is generally safe for children. the practice is common and rarely leads to serious side effects. doctors used the needles to treat a variety conditions of headaches from anxiety to adhd. saving boys and girls from spending too much time on the streets. gene hughes continues to get up every day because they are afraid if he doesn't his kids will have no other place to go
