west of the bay bridge. heading in toward annapolis and the beltway, all lanes are open on route 50 and running on time. >> coming up, we'll go into virginia at 5:10. andrea and mike? >> montgomery county police are investigating the third abduction of an older shopper in wheaton, maryland, all in less than a week. >> all three victims are men. one in his 60s, two in his 70s. surae chinn is live with the story now. >> reporter: good morning. these are all troubling cases and the latest one happened outside of a target here at westfield wheaton shopping center. a 77-year-old man was forced to get in his car, get in the passenger seat, driven to atms across the area. we don't know exactly which one. we do know several of them. forced to get cash out. and then driven to a gas station in hyattsville, maryland where he was dropped off, where someone actually saw him with the injuries he was confronted with a box cutter originally and that's where he

had a cut on his face. he was also punched in the face. he was treated at the hospital and released. there was another incident, a 60-year-old man who was confronted with a man with a box cutter outside of a giant at the same shopping center 100 yards away from the target in the westfield shopping center. also taken to atms across the area and dropped off at northwest d.c. a 75-year-old man went through a similar incident starting out at giant. these are all very disturbing cases. all three of them police say are connected from the same man with a box cutter and also the problem is this latest incident escalated to violence, always, always concerning. mike, andrea? >> surae, do police have any leads in this case? three times this has happened. >> they do have a very vague description. we won't pass it along to you because it is too vague. they're hoping to release surveillance video. we called this morning. they don't have anything new. hopefully in the next few hours, we'll find out something

new, especially once they release the surveillance video. there should be lots of cameras all over the mall and also at the atms. back to you. >> if you have any information, montgomery county police wants to hear from you. thank you, surae. >> investigators are trying to determine the cause of a deadly fire in chilham, maryland. prince george's county firefighters rushed to a one story brick home on griffin street around 4:00 in the morning on sunday. one woman escaped before firefighters got there but crews had to go back inside to pull out a 66-year-old boy and two other women. the boy died at the hospital. and the women both have life- threatening injuries. it appears they had no warning in the home. >> we did not find any smoke alarms, let alone a working one. >> firefighters went through the neighborhood later in the day to make sure the homes -- others in the neighborhood had smoke detectors that were working. one firefighter suffered a minor burn at the fire. he's expected to be released from the hospital today. damage from the fire estimated

at $100,000. they're still looking for the cause. aruban prosecutors have appealed a judge's decision to release the gaithersburg man suspected in the disappearance of robyn gardner. but according to a blog from "usa today," gary giordano will be released from jail on tuesday and free to leave aruba. he's been detained by police since the frederick woman went missing in august. friday, a judge denied prosecutors request to hold giordano for another 30 days while they investigate gardner's presumed death. giordano has been in custody since early august but has not been charged. he claims gardner disappeared while they were snorkeling. >> a georgetown student is back with his family this morning after getting arrested during a protest in egypt. derek sweeney flew back to the united states over the weekend and was reunited with relatives in st. louis for a late thanksgiving dinner. sweeney said he and two other students arrested with him in cairo did not throw firebombs at egyptian police like what

was reported. sweeney said the ordeal was very scary. he was frightened for his life, especially the first night in custody. >> time for the latest "your money" report of the morning. >> here's jessica doyle. good morning, jess. >> good morning. investors hoping to turn things around after the record breaking black friday numbers over the weekend. good news would be welcome when the dow lost more than 500 points. its worse showing in two months. wall street will continue to watch numbers come in along with new home sales for the month of october. investors also keeping a close eye on europe's debt crisis. president obama hosts a summit today for leaders of the european union. check the numbers, the dow stands at 11,231 after dropping 25 points in a holiday- shortened trading session on friday. the nasdaq was down by 18 and the s&p 500 lost three points. the at&t t-mobile deal may not be dead yet. there are numerous reports at&t is trying to save the $39

for leaf blowers and lawnmowers, one more time for that. one more day to get out and enjoy this. the warmth if you will before colder air heads this way. here is a look at our bus stop forecast, temperatures this morning running from the low 50s, one or two snuck down in the upper 40s. even some low 60s well south and southeast of town across southern maryland, northern neck of virginia down toward fredericksburg. you guys are a little bit warmer still. it will be another day where you'll probably get toward 70 degrees. our day planner, by 8:00, 59 degrees, winds southeast at 6. south to southeast today at 5, 10 miles per hour. by noon, 65. south winds at 8. by 6:00, 64. the highs from 65 to 70 out there depending on how much sunshine we can get. you'll notice the clouds. few more clouds coming in today. out to the west, a lot of rain across areas in alabama coming up into tennessee, kentucky and ohio and even western pennsylvania. going to see a lot more rain

61 in easton and pax river. 55 up in frederick and down at andrews air force base. also leesburg. look at the forecast high temperatures, main a little bit cooler along the bay. the rest of us, upper 60s to around 70 degrees in manassas. monika samtani, timesaver traffic. >> thank you so much. we have a couple of incidents to report on the east side of town. good morning, everybody. the beltway is looking fine all along the west and northside of town. first of all, let's tell you will an accident in prince george's county here at route 3 and route 450. prince george's county fire is on the scene. here's what's happening on the outer loop of the beltway at route 450. this is north of route 450, debris in the road. causing problems with disabled vehicles sitting on the shoulder. if you're planning to head north on the beltway, be aware of that. authorities do know about the problem. let's take you over to the beltway live at route 50. no problems to report. south of that point as you head toward oxon hill and the wilson bridge, you will be ok. let's take you over to another

live look, this time it will be on the other side of town on the beltway north of that point in silver spring. you will be ok. all lanes are open. coming up, i'll update you on the incidents in maryland at 5:39. andrea and mike? >> thank you, monika. >> this morning, occupy protestors in los angeles are waiting to see whether police will forcibly kick them out. >> the city had issued an eviction order to the protestors who basically have been camping out for two months now. in that time, their protest site has grown from a few dozen tents to over 500. the eviction order took effect over two hours ago. city officials are hoping for some cooperation. >> that's why i'm here to let people know we can work together, we can work together civilly. >> the city council itself passed a resolution saying that we have the first amendment rights to remain here. now, they're reneging on that agreement. >> another large occupy protest in philadelphia also saw an eviction order take effect last

night. so far, police there have not forced the protestors to abandon their campsites, however. >> in less than a week, three older men have been abducted from the same shopping center in wheaton, maryland. they've bull an forced to withdraw money from atms and in the latest case, the victim came away with physical injuries as well. surae chinn is live at the westfield shopping center with more on this story. good morning, surae. >> good morning, andrea. we're awaiting the all- important surveillance video of the crime and of this guy because the suspect, interestingly, went to all of the atms. you can see all around here, there are lots of cameras. wherever you didn't at atms, there will be cameras. again, the interesting thing is that we know at least in one case, the suspect was driving the car. he forced the victim to sit in the passenger seat so he was driving the car. he was taking out the money so hopefully there are some good opportunities to get a good frontal face view of this

suspect. we are waiting for that. the latest case, a 77-year-old man was leaving the target just across the street from here at westfield, wheaton shopping plaza and he was taken by this man, he was confronted with a box cutter and forced into his car and forced to go to different atms. police have not released the locations of the machines but we do know this man was dropped off at hyattsville where he was taken to the hospital. another incident happened the day before, saturday afternoon where a 60-year-old man was loading groceries in the car at a giant in the same shopping center and forced to go to other machines, withdraw money and then a third case last wednesday, a75-year-old man also went through the same thing. so, police are really trying to find the same suspect and also figure out what is going on because these incidents are escalating. the latest one happened to be violent because the 77-year-old

man was hit and cut in the face. back to you, andrea. >> thank you, surae chinn reporting live from wheaton. police have not made any arrests yet in a deadly confrontation which started inside a dupont circle restaurant. 34-year-old coleman of springdale, maryland was one of three men shot in the dispute which began as a fight at the heritage india restaurant early yesterday. coleman died of his injuries. in addition to the three men shot, three others were stabbed. one of them is listed in serious condition. investigators are reviewing surveillance tapes in hopes of getting more information. >> the man accused of shooting at the white house on veterans day is due back in court today. oscar ortega hernandez appeared in federal court a week ago. and was appointed a public defender then. he was to undergo a psychological evaluation before today's hearing. authorities say one of the nine rounds ortega fired cracked a window in the first family's living quarters at the white house. the president and first lady weren't home at the time. ortega hernandez is being held without bond now.

>> a virginia man convicted of big me died three days before he was scheduled to be sentenced. the body of 41-year-old isaac cust low jr. was found saturday inside an apartment in virginia beach by his most recent wife. police say cust low died of a drug overdose. he was convicted of bigamy in a richmond area court after he was discovered to have married four women in 11 years without getting a divorce and he was facing even more bigamy charges. time for another "your money" report this morning. >> jessica is back with lots of shopping at work today. >> that's right. if you didn't get your fill over the weekend of all of the holiday shopping, don't you worry. there are plenty of deals still to be had on this cyber monday. and a lot of us will be shopping from our cubicles. our partners at career builder report that 50% of american workers plan to spend time holiday shopping online at work this season. that is actually down slightly from 52% last year. 34% of us will spend one hour

or more. 16% will spend two hours or more and one note of caution here, 7% of hr managers surveyed have fired an employee for holiday shopping on the job. now, about 123 million americans are expected to surf the web looking for a good deal. that's up from 107 million last year. online shopping is expected to reach almost $38 billion this year. that is a 15% jump over last year. cyber monday follows a record- breaking thanksgiving weekend. more than 200 million shoppers visited stores and web sites. spending a record. the average shopper spent $398! that's up from $365 a year ago. a fuller picture will come on thursday when major retailers report their november sales figures. we'll see how it is going by then. >> let's hope we can talk about sales figures going in the right direction and forget about europe in a little while. >> that would be nice. >> we shall see. >> i always thought wall street didn't like the unexpected.

good morning and welcome back to 9news now. it is 5:44 on this monday morning. we've been talking about what a great weekend we had. on friday, i went up to caroline county in virginia. there i was for the festival of lights. we have some pictures. this is me with santa getting ready. >> that's santa on the left? >> yes. that's santa on the left. and it was a great time. it was lovely. 25 plus acres of lights that are going to be decorated. they hadn't even finished doing all of the lights. i understand 130 cars went through that day. here i am with jonie who was responsible for me coming up there and the sheriff who was there, sheriff scott. thank you very much. it was a great time. >> you're in country part of virginia. >> saw a lot of people and families out. it was a wonderful time. state senator ed houck came out to celebrate. i didn't get a chance to see

oranges slowly moving east. again, i don't expect this here until probably after midnight tonight. ahead of it though, the southerly and southeasterly winds will keep us on the warm side of things but behind that front, it is much chillier. highs by wednesday as i said will struggle to get to 50. we'll put everything in motion. here we are by 5:00 tonight, clouds here. down toward charlottesville, we can't rule out late day showers. showers will move in overnight. middle of the day, afternoon, some heavier showers will push through. even though the front is going to start to sweep through by dinnertime, still have a few evening showers possible before we clear out by wednesday morning. brisk winds out of the west. that is going to really cool us down. you notice all of the blue in the mountains. these are snow showers going on there. snow guns will be going in the ski area hoping to get the season started here in the next couple of weeks. 68 this afternoon. tonight we're in the 50s. tomorrow, 62 with the rain at times. blustery on wednesday. i don't think we made 50 in most areas. we'll be in the low 50s with

mubarak was president. egypt's army chief went on tv sunday night to reassure the public and beg people to vote. hussein tantawi warned of extremely grave consequences if the country does not overcome its crisis. the massive crowds in cairo's tahrir square have dwindled but dozens remain defiant. i will not vote, he says. they're boycotting the elections saying egypt's military government which took control after mubarak's ouster must go first. but millions are expected to cast a ballot. hoping the results will deliver democracy after decades of dictatorship. tina kraus, cbs news. >> making news now at 5:51, hit that toe is pronlsing an investigation into air strikes that killed 24 pakistani soldiers. pakistan's army said the strike continued even after local military commanders from coalition forces to seek those
