out a satanist. >> plus, we are checking out your weekend forecast. including a warmup on the way. >> but first tonight, another local councilman raided by the feds. this time it's harry thomas and the hot water he's in just started boiling. this is 9news now. >> the decade long history of corruption allegations in d.c.  government just added a brand- new chapter today as irs and fbi agents raided the home of dc councilman, harry thomas jr. >> thomas is one of three city leaders including the mayor who are the subject of criminal or ethics violations. today's raid lasted for more than nine hours. gary no, on what agents were looking for and what they took. gary. >> reporter: remember, that d.c.'s attorney general sued thomas earlier this year, claiming he diverted for personal use from the thomas charity that runs sports programs for the city's kids.

the ag then alerted the feds and today's raid is solid evidence they are taking this seriously. the raid began at 8:30 this morning and lasted until after dark. telling reporter delia goncalves. >> thomas' charity spent money at hooters and paid for personal items for councilman thomas. investigators seized a motorcycle and suv from thomas today as a whistle blower critic looked on. >> clearly they have solid evidence or this would not be happening. >> the scene as investigators carried boxes of presumed evidence from the thomas home is reminiscent of a home on then, prince georges county executive, zach johnson, who was indicted on corruption charges two months later. investigators are also examining claims by sulaimon brown that he was paid off by the campaign of a eventual

winner, vincent gray. d.c. council chairman bought with city funds two fancy suv unrelated, the office of campaign finance referred to federal prosecutors, allegations of violation by brown's campaign. today, gray issued a statement supporting the investigation of harry thomas and brown called a special session to talk about what to do, but then canceled it when most council members didn't show up. >> what i want to do is reschedule this until monday so we can have every single member around. >> but brown said that meeting will not be open to the public. >> so they'll try again after the weekend. it's important to say in the past, thomas denied any criminal wrong doing and agreed to give the city some money back, but the impact of that agreement on federal law enforcement officers looking for criminal activity is likely to be negligent.

>> officer walker arrived to a home in silver spring this afternoon after a mother found her child not breathing. walker was the first to get there and when he realized the 19 month old had no pulse, he immediately began cpr. >> trying to kick in what they taught me in the academy. i started cpr, and after about two cycles of cpr, then i actually got a pulse from her and she started gasping for breath on her own. >> that little girl started breathing again on her own. as a father of three himself, officer walker is just happy to hear that she is recovering tonight in the hospital. imagine, you go in to talk to your therapist and you walk out brainwashed. that's what one woman is claiming a st. louis therapist did to her. it's what she was convinced to believe that has folks outraged. ken is live now to explain the details. ken, what's going on? >> that woman went into the

castle wood treatment center. she thought she was going to be treated for anorexia. she was led to believe she had multiple personalities and taken part in se tannic rituals. >> things that were deviant. >> julie isn't the woman suing the therapist, but she is familiar with what the plaintiff is alleging. she claims her therapist brainwashed her. o'conner says it's a pattern she experienced as a patient. >> i got to a point where i thought, there is no way all these people have been involved in in satanic cults. >> >> he used hypnosis to falsely believe she had been raped multiple times, as many as 20 personalities and a member of a satanic cult. >> therapist said that she had

engaged in a satanic ritual where the baby was sacrificed and the flesh was passed out for all the members of the cult to eat. >> according to a published report, he denies he uses hypnosis and never discussed satanic cults. six other women he has been speaking to with similar stories. he expects more lawsuits to come. it's important to know, is this a civil lawsuit, not a criminal action and no criminal charges are involved in this case. what a story. tonight, a rockville man is being used as a bargaining chip in the war on terror. al-qaeda now says it is holding 70-year-old warren weinstein who was kidnapped in pakistan nearly four months ago. it's been 112 days of captivity, but it wasn't until today the world finally learned who has him and what they want. al-qaeda revealed a terror group's role in the weinstein

kidnapping. demanding an end to drone strikes and the release of all al-qaeda and taliban prisoners worldwide. the u.s. state department is keeping its reaction muted today. >> u.s. officials including the fbi are assisting with the pakistani led investigation and it is a pakistani led investigation. and we're trying to cooperate them in any way we can. >> weinstein is a veteran nongovernment development worker who was snatched by gunmen in pakistan august 13, just two days before he was supposed to come home. terror experts believe weinstein was kidnapped by another group and traded for money. we should know the future of herman cain's presidential campaign. he's going to make an announcement in atlanta, but won't reveal whether he plans to drop out of the race, only that he is quote, reassessing things. all this after a woman came forward claiming she had a 13 year extramarital affair with

cain. he denies it, but acknowledges the two were friends and he gave her money for financial hardships and expenses. cain says he never told his wife about ginger white. now, to a story you'll see only on 9. a mother is outraged after a school forced her son to wear a weighted belt in class. tanya payne knew her son was being treated for speech problems and impulse problems, but she did not know that his teachers were making him wear this belt every day. payne says when she signed the waiver for the occupational therapist to use quote, sensory strategies, she had no idea it would mean this. >> it doesn't say anything about a miracle belt. >> as a mother, i was upset. >> 9news now could not find another school system in the whole area that used weighted equipment on kids that had not been diagnosed with autism. montgomery county schools used weighted vests, but only on

autistic children. the public schools are setting up a meeting with payne for next week. neither sleet nor rain or threat of armed robbery will stop postal workers from making their appointed rounds. one worker was robbed and locked up in the back of his own truck. d.c. police believe there are two men behind this attack. rather these are the men behind this attack. it happened at the post office in northwest. turns out, nearly a dozen times since august of 2010 armed robbers have held up d.c. area post offices, postal workers and postal trucks. investors don't know what's going on. >> we are very concerned, obviously. we are not ruling out any possibility whether it is the same group of people or whether it's individuals acting alone. two individuals acting together. >> the crooks ended up stealing packages, gift cards, and the days receipts from the truck. if you have any idea who might have done it, the postal inspection service is offering

a $50,000 reward. call 202-636-1479 and you can remain unanimous. anita. derek, in tonight's health a later, we are taking a look at a controversial way of delivering chemotherapy. it's called a hot chemo bath and is used on patients like john who was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer of the appendix. it spread to his stomach. here's how the treatment works. they cut out tumors and fill with heated chemo. it is sloshed around the abdomen for 90 minutes. >> cancer cells which aren't visible to our eyes and can't be operated on and we are trying to kill those tumor cells which could be the source of a recurrence. the rational for using heat, it has been known that heat is toxic to cancer cells. >> hot chemo baths are not new, but were shunned by many

hospitals as too invasive and risky. example of the procedure impacts so many vital organs and with the abdomen open, there's increased risk for infection. these can be effective on some colon and stomach cancers that have spread. the national unemployment rate dipped sharply last month to 8.6%. the lowest in 2 1/2 years. despite the drop, about 13 million americans still looking for work and some had just given up. that means they are no longer counted when the government adds up people who are unemployed every month. more than 300,000 americans left the labor force last month. that means they stopped looking for work. i think we should all be concerned about that. >> american economy is now created in the private sector jobs for the past 21 months in a row. >> and that includes 140,000 jobs added last month by private companies.

sunday you like the milder weather, stick around. the end of the weekend looking good. here's a look at our national picture. the satellite radar picture combined and you can see basically that texas is getting much needed rain in parts of new mexico getting snow showers. also snow will be falling in the colorado area as well. basically the middle of the country is where we are looking at some cold fronts coming through and then we'll eventually start to see some of that impacting our area slowly. it's a slow moving cold front. you can see impacting parts of the middle section of the country north of texas into parts of kansas, missouri, and in the plains. we have high pressure in the mid atlantic. we have clear skies. another cold night, but then we'll see plenty of sunshine. so, chilly saturday for your weekend starting off and milder for your sunday. great for holiday prep.

welcome back to 9news now. i'm kristen. joined for our double coverage segment with brian mitchell and david. rex grossman gets another win. puts him at 4-4 this season. do you think rex deserves more credit this season for what he has done? >> people read my column today, that's the argument i made. i thought that rex and beck, what cares, what's the difference? rex outclassed john beck. it makes the offense watchable. >> obviously the four picks in the philadelphia game got him benched. did he deserve to get benched? >> he deserved to get benched. he was playing terrible. i think they could have brought him back. most teams do that. when a guy is having a terrible game, they pull him out and they put him back.

i always thought rex was better than beck. >> the experiment did not work. it was rumored that the redskins were a major player for mark sanchez. they didn't take him. they didn't trade up. they took brian aracpo. >> i think they needed a pass rusher opposite andre carter at that point. their defense needed to make something happen. i wasn't convinced that sanchez was going to be a superstar. they did seriously try to get him, talk about getting him. jay cutler was a guy on their radar screen. they gave up on donovan and that's where they are. >> david, who do you give to offense? >> either of them is very good. a tie. >> better receivers and they have better runningbacks. >> you have tie and jets. what about defense? >> the redskins aren't getting enough credit for the defense. the jets are supposed to have
