a the lot of folks are probably tired from all the events that happened yesterday. but there were arrests. clashes with police and all surrounding this makeshift shelter built-up overnight from saturday into sunday. priss told them to tear it down, they refused, that is when the first 15 people were arrested yesterday when they crossed the police line. there was a second round of arrests from united states park police. those were people who refused to leave the structure from inside the building and on the roof. that is when six people refused to get down. they had to bring in a cherry pick tore pluck them off. there was one guy who really refused to leave and actually relieved himself in front of hundreds of people. >> he exposed his genitals as he was urinating. >> right now the road

surrounding mcpherson square are open now. they were shut down yesterday because of the arrest. dc police officers in their cars in each corner of this area on 15th and k, street so far. so good. but i will tell you there was another planned protest tonight between eighth and 15th street northwest on the national mall. they have invited thousands of people to protest and makeshift tents and so forth to come out are false, and unproven, but says they have been hurtful to his wife. the latest poll released by the des moines register has former house speaker newt gingrich now as the front runner. gingrich is at 25% in the poll. ron paul is second at 18% and mitt romney is 16% with likely voters in iowa. this morning i'm joined by a reporter with usa today, our

sister paper. why do you think he has decided to suspend? >> i think it has to do with that he wasn't getting past these scandals. money was starting to dry up. so many competitors at this point, people have a lot of places to put their money. they are probably not going to put it with a candidate that at this point has been whittled away with this scandal. we start to see when all these scandals came out, newt gingrich was not weighing in on herman cain. >> right. >> he wasn't piling on like some of the other candidates did. does that mean he was sort of maybe behind the scene courting his superrers even before all of this broke do you think? >> a couple of things are going on here. newt gingrich and herman cain have been friends for a long time. when he was speaker of the house's pointed herman cain to a commission while he was in the house. they have a history of being friends.

the other thing is newt gingrich has had an issue himself with herman cain. newt gingrich and the affair situation, he doesn't want to remind anybody of that. he is trying to get past that. it is going to matter who he endorses if he does it soon. with gingrich, i think he was more trying to stay out it have. >> where does this leave mitt romney? he has been anointed by so many people as eventual nominee. yet his poll numbers have actually taken a dip. he is at 16%. does he sort of wait around until all the other opponents wither away? >> a successful strategy at this point. so i don't think he has any reasons to change course, because look at herman cain. what was that? three weeks ago?

freddiemac. the more tomorrow will run from december 1st through january 2nd. we work a lot more than folks across the pond. a lot more. the average working european earns 25 to 30 vacation days a year and usually takes all of them. here in the united states we get 14 days off and we tend to take 12 days. lack of money the most common reason cited for, giving up vacation days. there are other countries that seem even more vacation deprived than us, at the united states. for example the japanese take just five out of the 11 days they are given every single year for vacation. >> you need to recharge right? >> exactly. maybe we should move to europe. maybe that is why they are having their debt problems.

thank you monika. lung cancer is the number one cancer killer of americans according to the lung cancer foundation. more than 450 people die each day from the disease. you can get lung cancer even if you have never smoked. 60% of newly diagnosed patients have either never smoked or quit decades before. for every $9 spent on breast cancer, $1 is spent on lung cancer. annie, a pleasure to meet you. the inspiration for this is dennis barry. tell me who dennis barry and why is this so important you want to start this foundation? >> reporter: dennis barry is my father, he has four children, and he has a wife. he was diagnosed with lung cancer six years ago in august. he fought for six years. he worked nearly full-time every single day for those six years up until two months before he

passed away. i wanted to make a difference in other people's lives who are suffering from lung cancer. >> $1 for every $9 spent on breast cancer. you were just baffled by this after watching your father go through there battle for six years to learn not a lot of money was spent on research for lung cancer. >> lung cancer is frowned upon because they think that everybody that has lung cancer was a smoker. >> they did this to themselves? >> true. 60% of lung cancer patients have either never smoked in their life or had smoked prior. >> had your dad smoked? >> yes about 15 years prior he quit before being diagnosed. >> now with the foundation, you

fog. we have delays in queen ann and talbot counties. both those counties are delayed 90 minutes, you see the dense fog advisory this morning east of us along the eastern shore along the bay and down in southern maryland. no problems from dc and points west. visibility issues here and there are numerous ones, we have visibility down a quarter mile or less. eton down to a quarter mile. not too bad here at dc points north and southwest. our bus stop forecast this morning, mostly cloudy. mid-30s to the mid-40s. mid-30s generally west of town right now. temperatures climbing into the 40s at can, 50s by noon.

temperatures up to the upper 50s if not low 50s. temperatures in the mid-30s, went through that fast. hagerstown is 3. 49 in easton with the fog and 43 in washington right now. winds not bad right now. dew point into the low 40s. cold air across the rockies and northern plains this. cold is moving east and southeast. but it has to wait for this front. you know, if these were moving from the northwest the agree, that cold would get here a lot more quickly. there is a lot of snow in west texas and oklahoma. look at the heavy rains. dallas to little rock, moving toward the tennessee valley. this is all going to be moving toward us tonight and tomorrow. but right now at least, we are on the mild side of things. that will be today tonight and

annapolis a quarter mile. the entire bay up through jersey, long island southern connecticut up toward boston even with the dense fog advisories. watch out for that. temperatures low 50s in town with 30s out to the west. upper 50s to low 60s. we'll talk about major changes headed our way. right now monika santani looking at timesaver traffic. if you are planning to head into virginia, the beltway is fine on the south side of town. if you are planning to head northbound on i-95. watch out for the accident slowing things down. on the outer loop at eyes shower. if you are traveling in maryland on the beltway you just got that normal slow stuff. speaking of maryland commuters have been using the 18-mile stretch between i-270 and i-95. north of the capital beltway.

because another round of protesters around 7:00 and between 8th and 14th street. to go on the national mall, right now everyone is inside their tents sleeping. so it is quiet. but a big difference from yesterday the events that happened yesterday and it all surrounded when protesters built-up this makeshift two-story wooden shelter. they all refused to leave. police told them they had an hour to tear it down. they didn't. they said that the inspector deemed it unsafe. again 31 people arrested in all. there were six people on the roof. and they brought in an armored vehicle, mounted police, ladders, ropes and a cherry picker. one guy refused to leave and he exposed himself and urinated. he eventually was arrested for

naval air station. it's gotten better at bwi. any travel eastern shore and southern new england over the next few hours. for us at the bus stop this morning, temperatures in the mid-30s, mid-40s, warmer stuff south and east. mostly cloudy skies patch which i, dense fog delaying school on the eastern shore. partly to mostly cloudy, temperatures by noon will rise into the mid-50s with south winds 5 to 10 miles per hour. south wind around 60 give or take a couple high. overnight showers will move in and tomorrow looks to be a wet day. reston 36, 43 in rockville, warmer east. that is where we have a little bit more fog.

your travel plans. northbound of springfield, once you are beyond the accident you are going to be okay. it is helping things along north of the accident along to springfield. the accident with single file traffic getting by to the left. i'll keep you posted on that coming up in my next report at 6:58. iran says it shot down an unmanned united states spy plane yesterday. the news agency says the country's armed forces shot down the men because it violated iranian air space. the plane is a 170 type drone, the pent gun isn't commonning but the drone is one american pilots lost control over in afghanistan late last week. a second person died after being hit by a car on thanksgiving day. he was one of 5-day laborers
