the keystone pipeline will be in there when it goes back to the united states senate. >> the president made clear that he opposes these kinds of extraneous issues being inserted into a tax cut bill. i think it is quite clear that an oil pipeline has nothing to do with the payroll taxes. >> congress has until december 31 to reach the deal before the tax cut expires. but senate is working on a backup plan that would extend the cuts until february and that would let congress work on a long-term deal into the new year. >> the army private accused of leaking military documents to the whistle blower website known as wikileaks faced his first court hearing today. bradley manning has been held ever since his arrest last may and he could face life behind bars if he is found guilty. >> i'm delia at ft.

federal judge told prosecutors today at a preliminary hearing for hernandez. they had asked if the suspected white house shooter has some more psychiatric screenings just to make sure he is fit for trial. the judge said there's no evidence he is fit. ortega is accused of shooting an assault rifle. a graduate student at george washington university has died from meningitis. they say that the person lived off campus. gw officials have contacted 35 people who may have come into contact with that student. they are advised to get checked out by a doctor. >> some good news for a change for commuters down in virginia. congress reached a dell to impose a parking cap at the mark center. the idea is to keep the traffic from getting much worse once the mark center is fully occupied. the bill also holds the pentagon responsible for studying the traffic problem and paying for any solution.

today, virginia congressman, jim moran called it a major victory for virginia and taxpayers and commuters. >> this may sound like words, but they have great import. basically it means that the pentagon is responsible for building the infrastructure necessary to accommodate the 6,400 additional employees who will be moving into that building. >> now that parking cap is part of a defense appropriations bill and it will go into effect just as soon as the president signs it. >> all right, now head's up about a big change this weekend on i-66. tonight 9:00, crews will close both exits from i-66 eastbound running into 495 north and three lanes on the interloop. that's for tomorrow morning and the ramp will carry the traffic from 66 east on to the inner loop. that means if you are driving from fairfax to bethesda, you'll merge from the right instead of the left.

well it's never a good sign when you hit the high for the day in the wee hours of the morning. that usually means it's gotten a lot colder during the day. top, how low is it going to go tonight? >> we have given up 20 degrees since this time yesterday. and probably we're looking at another 10 before all said and done. let's start with live doppler 9,000. sleet mixed in. mostly that is in the form of rain in southern and st. mary's county, calvert county pushing across into the bay. a little bit of activity in the mountains, most of that is rain. might see a couple wet snow flakes. in the immediate metro area, it's dry. in the 30s already in gaithersburg and frederick. 41 in leesburg. 43 in manassas and 42 at andrews. so for tonight, some rain south. mixing with sleet at times. otherwise mostly cloudy and colder. winds will become northwest at 10 to 15. and when that kicks in, the rain and sleet will be a thing of the past. we'll come back and talk about a pretty cold weekend and maybe

fairfax county schools now can install surveillance cameras inside their buildings. the school board approved a plan allowing that late last night. there are some restrictions. schools can only put the cameras in cafeterias, hallways, and other gathering places. not in locker rooms, or classrooms. a 12-year-old charged with a crime for firing a nerf dart gun? the park city council passed a gun control ordinance that would ban firing any gun in the city limits. that means any gun from rifles to bb guns and nerf guns. anybody with violations would be charged with a fine of $500 and well, as you might imagine, the parents and the mayor do not like that one bit. >> what it does is it

week, how it would go south. a little bit of rain south, mixed in with sleet from time to time. we'll zoom in and it's moving pretty fast. it will be out of here before midnight. heaviest rain, well richmond southward, and we did see some of this, see the bright banding here? the yellows and reds. it was sleet south of town earlier and that is pretty much over now. even though temperatures were in the low 40s, it was tense enough precipitation to drag down colder air, which is often the case. a lot of this activity you are seeing now is not reaching the ground. it is simply evaporating. here's a look at live doppler. see a dome around here. dry tonight, maybe a couple sprinkles. maybe a couple wet snow flakes and the rain is beginning to subside and move into the dell morva as we go through the next couple of hours. temperatures are, well they are cold. compared to yesterday they are.

41 bethesda. already 39 up in gaithersburg, 41 in reston and low 40s in springfield and also down toward fredericksburg. now here's a deal. a chilly weekend. rain, a little bit of sleet south of town. you'll need sunglasses tomorrow. a chilly saturday and sunday. and maybe some flurries on sunday. just maybe a few flurries. here's a lock at our future cast. 1:00 in the morning. most of the activity is well south of us. we'll have snow showers back in the mountains, especially across the divide. that will not change even into tomorrow morning. we will clear out quickly tomorrow morning, lots of sunshine. clouds sort of come back a little bit as we get into the afternoon. they over spread the area saturday night. clouds will roll in saturday night. there's upper air disturbance that rolls in and we could see some snow showers on sunday, maybe in the morning. certainly we'll see more snow showers west of cumberland. an inch or two toward the ski resorts. mostly cloudy, colder. rain south mixing with sleet at times. winds will become northwest at

internet sales are also legal. the city of new york has no business attempting to curtail or forbid the guns in virginia. focus should be on the treatment of mentally impaired individuals such as the two young perpetrators at virginia tech before they can harm members of their community. you might want to remember it is illegal to sell if you think a person can't pass a background check. meantime, christine said guns in fact the problem. hate guns, only hunter, the governor, and criminals need guns. my dad had one for protection, but we didn't have access. and then we had this from thomas alexander, love me some guns, but they should not be sold to criminals or undesirables who done harm to others. another municipality have chosen to stick its nose into the compty of another state. i donned don't love or hate guns, a special alarm will go off if some crazy person tries to buy one.
