america. >> saturday's compromise requires the president to speed up a decision on an oil pipeline from canada to texas. he wanted to delay that decision on the controversial project, but republicans say it will bring much needed jobs. members of the house are expected to return next week to debate the payroll tax extension. the senate also passed a $1 trillion year end bill by a 67- 32 vote. it includes day-to-day budgets for ten cabinet departments and military operations in iraq and afghanistan. it also fills in details of the budget tax reached last summer that holds the pentagon to the smallest increase in recent memory. and poses modest cuts on most domestic agencies. in the philippines, devastating flash floods are being blamed for more than 400 deaths. many of the victims were asleep friday night as flood waters triggered by a tropical storm tore through homes and villages. piles of debris were left in the wake of the storm. survivors waded through swollen

rivers and flooded streets to reach safety. >> occupy wall street protesters have been arrested in two cities. new york city police arrested 50 people today after they breeched in an attempt to occupy a vacant lot. additional arrests were made as protesters marched in midtown. wall street occupiers have been looking for a new place to set up camp since they were ousted. and in raleigh, north carolina, six protesters were arrested as they are blocking a downtown street and refusing to move. half dozen occupy des moines activists setting up a camp outside president barack obama's campaign headquarters in iowa and they are vowing to stay there around the clock. the occupy protesters rallied on saturday against military spending and then some walked to the office for obama's reelection bid. nobody was there. the doors were locked. obama spokesperson says their campaign has no comment. overseas, nine people are dead and hundreds injured in two days of clashes between

hundreds of families lined up at the prince georges county police department to take home a little christmas cheer today. they were among the more than 5200 families who signed up to receive toys as part of the police department's annual toys for tots drive. >> last year we serviced 3500 families. we have about a 5,000 kid increase. anyone can come to police headquarters and ask for anyone at the door and they'll receive the toys from them. >> keep in mind after sunday, toys for tots donations will be accepted at the social services department. that is located on bright seed road in landover, maryland. christmas just a week away and while many people are hitting the malls for last minute shopping, several santas were hitting the national mall as part of santa. dressed like the jolly old st. nick. they were divided between naughty and nice.
