the protestors citing health and safety concerns. delia goncalves tells us the occupiers are staying put no matter what happens. >> we will stay here. we have to stay here. >> reporter: he calls himself bear and says mcpherson square encampment is making an important statement. fighting what they call corruption on k street. moving, he says is out of the question. >> i think it would dismantle what we are doing here, yes. not -- the movement per se. >> reporter: but d.c. mayor vince gray calls the camp unsafe and unsanitary citing a major rat infestation even the threat of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning. the mayor would like to relocate the occupiers to freedom plaza. a permanent encampment city leaders say is more organized and more sanitary. >> we've been told is that when d.c. police and park police come together to move us out. we are really or worried about that day happening. >> reporter: the national park

service has made many accommodations even bending park rules that ban overnight camping. calling this an on going 24 hour vigil. >> right now we are the long- lasting camp in the country. around the country people are doing what we're going to have to do. one or two people on a beverage at night. >> reporter: at mcpherson square, delia goncalves, news news. >> we are still waiting for a response if the national park service -- from the narcotic park service, today a man accused of helping to cover-up theft of government money will enter a guilty plea. marshall banks is accused of receiving grandparent funds from redistricting them to -- redistricting them to harry thomas jr.. thomas resigned his ward 5 seat and pled guilty last friday. he admitted that he embezzled more than $350,000. the charge that banks faces carries a maximum sentence of

three years in prison. the wind could be a problem today. >> yeah, winds are howling out there. it could be worse later this afternoon. the weather service posted a wind advisory all the counties in orange until 6:00 p.m.. so those gusts 45, maybe even 50, 55 out to the west in the higher elevations. not for the district of prince george's county or fairfax but you go to howard, montgomery, out toward loudoun, northern fauquier, points north and west of there. this is where we have the wind advisory and in the mountains as well. the snow thefullying on west side -- is flying on the west side of the divide. we have some gusts of 35 down south of pax river and easton as well. 32 in gaithersburg and even martinsburg mid 30s and again considering these could get bigger. temperatures now barely got into 39. touching 40 in annapolis but still in the 20s out west. and when you factor in the winds, well it feels like it's in the 20s and even teens know.

hagueers town now. the winds will start to calm down in the day tomorrow. right now locally just a quick look at the temperatures, they're hovering in the low 40s in montgomery county and into lou con townty and near 40 -- loudoun county and near 40 here in town. but looks like a very cold weekend. i'll have those details in a few minutes. j. c.? sky 9 was over the scene of a truck accident in montgomery county this morning. we're not sure if the wind contributed to the truck flipping over on i-270 northbound. no one was injured. the truck spilled fuel on the road but authorities say that it wasn't enough to cause environmental concerns. fire trucks and police vehicles will line the route today from woodsboro, maryland to arlington national cemetery. that's where army specialist ronald wildrick will be buried. the 24-year-old was from woodsboro in frederick county.

he was killed in afghanistan last month. he leaves behind two daughters. charges could be filed today against the u.s. marines accused of urinating on the corporates of taliban fighters and then videotaping it. tara mergener reports it will do little to stop the antes american out jane. >> reporter: the disturbing video that appears to show the marines made the rounds at camp lejeune as a war trophy. they have been identified as snipe fresh a battalion that recently returned from afghanistan. military officials say anyone who helped make or watch the video could face charges as soon as today. but the damage has been done. >> it's a gift for the taliban really because it reinforces their propaganda. they want the world to believe. they want afghans to believe that the u.s. has no record for

area and across the country. and the case is going to go to trial in just a couple of weeks, we're talking about george huguely accused of beating his former girlfriend yeardley love to death. right here with me now is the honorable priscilla fossom. she's a former judge and deputy attorney general. thanks so much for being with us. >> my pleasure. >> this particular case just got so much publicity in the media. everywhere. so in terms of selecting people to -- to serve on the jury, is the process going to be any different in this case? >> it will be somewhat different. the main difference will be the number of jurors that are actually called and interviewed during the selection process but it's important to keep in mind that the standard for a fair jury is not whether or not the jurors have heard of the

trial or the underlying acts but whether they can set aside anything they learned from the media or from friends and base their conclusion only on what they hear during evidence. during the trial. so -- as i said generally, i believe they're calling in more than 300 people which is double the amount they would usually call. and then the questions will be around the -- not have you heard of this trial, but will you be able to base your conclusion only on what you hear here? and once a juror is selected that juror will be instructed to not read any media or pay attention to anything anybody else says. >> of course, now there's always the possibility of a plea agreement. do you think that will happen in this particular case? >> i do not because of how close we are to trial. never say never. though. there's always a risk going to trial. both for the prosecution and

the defendant. that's -- you know the nature of the game. and although the expense of the trial for the prosecution generally is the trial preparation, there is never -- you can never rule out the possibility because witnesses may not resonate with the jury. the defense may have the same issue that they feel the jurors are not with them. that the jurors are buying everything the prosecution witnesses say. so there's always the possibility. although the closer we get to the trial date, the more reduced that possibility is. >> and the trial starts february -- >> 6th. >> february 6th just a couple of weeks away. >> they started the juror selection process and the beginning of it is just making sure no one has vacations or medical treatment but then they get into the individual jurors and whether they can set aside their preconceived notions. >> this is going to be talked about a lot. and the media i'd like to have you back during the trial so

republican presidential candidates are continuing to court voters in south carolina. some of the contenders have eased their attack on mitt romney's business record amid growing pressure from conservatives. ines ferre has more. >> reporter: newt gingrich is pulling out all the stops against his biggest rival. >> massachusetts moderate mitt romney -- he'll say anything to win. >> reporter: in a new web ad, he blasts mitt romney comparing him to former massachusetts presidential candidates michael dukakis and john kerry. >> he speaks french too. >> reporter: with south carolina's primary only about a week away, gingrich is zeroing in on the gop front runner. but at campaign stops thursday, romney focused his attacks on president obama. >> we are going to see the change we're looking for and it's not barack obama.

for a nationwide boycott of girl scout cookies. at issue is a california teen who's a girl scout and she's upset that a colorado troop allowed a transgendered girl to join. the 14-year-old who identifies herself as taylor says the money from the cookies will go to support a pro-transgender agenda. >> what's wrong with that? for one reason, girl scouts describes itself as an all girl experience. with that label, families trust that the girls will be in an environment that is not only nurturing and sensitive to girls' needs, but also safe for girls. >> people from the lesbian gay, bisexual and transgender community have been posting their own videos supporting girl scouts. taylor's video is produced in conjunction with the california group honest girl scouts that has since been removed from

public viewing. a nationwide man hunt may be launched to find four convicted murders pardoned in mississippi. no one seems to know exactly where they are but ninette sosa reports state officials are making it their mission to find out. >> reporter: these four men, all convicted murderers given life sentences are roaming free thanks to a pardon by governor haley barbour. it requires the men to check in daily with prison officials, problem is they don't have to do that until they're found and officially served with court documents. >> there's going to be a national search for some of them. we'll catch them. it's just a matter of time. >> do you know where they are? >> no. >> reporter: barbour cleared the records of more than 200 convicted criminals before leaving office this week. a judge yesterday blocked the state from releasing any more of the newly pardoned criminals. but it's the ones who were

already set free that have the families of the victims on edge. >> how is the state of mississippi better off? how is the country better off? because all these guys aren't staying in mississippi. they're going to be all over the united states. >> reporter: barbour says 90% of the pardons were recommended by the parole board and many of those pardoned were already free but the state eastern general said the former governor abouted above the law. >> i appears that the -- it appears that the vast majority of these so-called pardons, there was no proper publication and we're going to have to go back and set aside probably the vast majority of this 175 attempts to pardon people. >> reporter: i'm ninette sosa reporting. >> mississippi does grant governors the power to issue full pardons. but the state's attorney says he will try to reverse them by arguing the victims and their families were not properly notified. a fifth man a convicted armed robber was also released. along with the four convicted murderers.

a court hearing on the matter is going to be held on january 23rd. it's hard to think about getting a summer job right now this time of the year but sixth flags america is -- six flags america hopes you will think about it because it is hiring 2,000 people. the amusement park in largo, maryland needs people to start in march. because that's when the training begins. the park actually opens in may and some jobs will run through halloween. six flags says it needs just about every skill available. >> we have tons of jobs available for pretty much anything you want to do. which has to do with a theme park. admissions, aqualityics, you can be a lifeguard. food service. retail. and of course ride operations and that's going to be a big thing this year with our brand new roller coaster coming in this summer. >> you can asupply online at -- apply online at

the region. you notice a little bit of blue right there? on live doppler 9000 hd been picking audiotape couple of snow flurries coming out of frederick county now just south of westminster, they're moving down here on 140? that's about it. a couple of flurries well north of town. winds are the other issue gusting to 43 now in garrett county and oakland. 35 easton pax river. 28 here in washington and that's drying the windchills -- driving the windchills way, way down. actual temperatures, 39 in d.c.. 41 in fredericksburg and only 27 in hagerstown with 2? oakland -- 12 in oakland. feeling like 8 below out there now, 8 below. our windchill is 29 and feels like 19 in winchester and 26 across the bay. looking outside on the michael & son weather camera, lots of sunshine at the moment but we've had varying amounts of clouds today. currently 39 with that sustained wind out of the west at 22 making it feel like 29. the air is really dried out. the dew point now down to 13 and the pressure is rising quickly. sensitive to those big pressure changes a painful day for you.

big storm out here, this is bringing in the cold and the snow along the great lakes. heavy snow central and western new york. some spots going to pick up a foot there and even a foot not out of the question at snow shoe and somer set for snow springs. a good cold snowy weekend in the mountains. the rest of us will deal with the strong west to northwesterly winds over the next day, day and a half. they will be weaker but still brisk tonight and tomorrow. so the cold air continues to funnel in and those snow showers continue to fly in the mountains, ther forecast today, only about 40 and won't feel that way. 20s tonight. tomorrow, 34 degrees. 34 also on sunday with less wind and then as we go toward mondays, a little milder and 40s and rain possible tuesday. we'll be back in just a moment.
